    Hi all,

in 2 months I have a wisdom tooth extraction. I'm not quite sure which painkiller I should take. My dentist wanted to prescribe me some Ibuprofen for the operation but I'm not going to take it. I know of doctors in hospital who say that 50% of their patients on dialysis came here after they used a too high dose of Ibuprofen.

I hope we have lots of specialists on this board since pain is an important part of Fibro/CFS so I wanted to know if anyone can give me advice or recommend me a painkiller that is not hard on kidneys and helps with the medium pain after the extraction?

Are you or have you been taking anything for pain or anything else that would be effecting your kidneys? I wouldn't think that taking ibuprofen for such a short time would do any harm.

Also, if you can get by with just ibuprofen, I think you're in great shape!
When I had a root canal, my Dentist prescribed a low dose of Vicoden. Hopefully whatever you take you won't need for very long anyway - so I don't think it will harm you.

    Just my opinion.

Since I don't take pain medication I also think that Ibuprofen should not be a problem but my kidney values are elevated and this is why I don't want to put any more pressure on them.

thx, simonedb for your advice. do you know of any other pain med that isn't hard on kidneys. propoxyphene is not available here :(
