My rheumy says I have "strep pattern" arthritis and wants to put me on longterm penicillin treatment. I have never had a strep throat, but have had the infection elsewhere, may have chronic low level infetion in my sinuses. But my hands, hips, feet are really inflammed, not being helped by Enbrel. Anyone here had any success with longterm penicillin for this type of arthritis?

My CT scan of my sinuses came back negative. My strep panel was negative. I had my gallbladder out earlier this year due to gallstones. The strep expresses overtly through persistent vaginosis. And, through this "pattern" of arthritis that my doc says is strep-indicative.

I am hoping someone on this board has tried penicillin for subcellular strep and can share their experience with me.
