so far fo rthe repsonses and god ones at that. They dont even have a ON call Dr cause hes IT! I guess he doesn tthink he will have situtions come up like that when he a rhuemy and boy I sur ewish he did just in case.

I thought about the clinic thing but I am afriad they will think I am some drug seeker ~~ you know how those drs do that sometimes when they dont knwo you at all. I just hate that. I wish they knew me. I just am upset I let myself get into this situation in the first place . I should have gone and got them even though I am not even taking as much as I COULD take...as much as hes RX'd and stuff. Then... I would have these stupid suprises and not know they were going to be gone!
I wonder if the pharmacist could give me exact pills untill they get back but... i dont know cause I have to even go all the way downtown Seattle jsut to pick up the RXs cause its Methadone. They wont even call it in to pharmacy, have to pick up inmy hands and take it there. grrr. Actualy my husband picks it up cause I wont drive in Seattle with all the hills and with my stick shift. NO waaaay, too much stress.

who is a friend. She said DO NOT convert. Call your local pharmacist if you can. If you cannot, call your local hospital and speak to the doctor on call. Because you have an RX they will know that you are not a drug seeker. They will also understand (as she apparently must have) that you should NOT be switching back and forth and that you will need some emergency meds until your doctor gets back.

Because they are a hospital they will have some on hand, they can persribe and exact amount, and they can check with your doctor when he returns, or possibly page him to verify your script immediately as many hospitals are able to reach all area doctors in ways that we patients cannot. She was ADAMANT that you should do this immediately and that you should not self medicate.

    Good luck!

I would call and talk to the pharmicist about this.

If you ever decide you want to get off the opiates, you can ask your doctor, or a pain specialist about Subutex.

I was taking MS Contin and it made me very sick. After nine months, I was so afraid of stopping because of withdrawals.

I went right off MS Contin to Subutex with no withdrawals at all. (Subutex prevents withdrawals).

Subutex also treats pain so you can stay on a maintenance dose if it controls your pain.

I know it is hard, but maybe you can find a new doctor who does not cause so many problems with refills.

When you are on these meds you have to really be careful when you are running low. The doctors normally want three days notice on refills.

You also might consider going to a urgent care clinic and explain your situation. Lastly, is there a doctor on call for your doctor while they are on vacation?

thank you so much for even calling someone ... wow thanks! and thanks to the other next poster. I just cant believe that they have NO Dr on call or anyhting. He works by himself so I guess he it!

The nurse actually called on my CELL phone and left a message to come and pick up by 1pm and I COULD HAVE! WHy she left on that number I dunno- I had my head by the phone (while sleeping) the whole DARN DAY! I just cant believ this at all. Never again will I let I go so long and get them whether or not I need them at that time - I guess. I dont know what else to do. I guess I should have been "JONNY on the SPOT" to get my meds and its my fault. I just wish she woud have called me again before they left again! They were in and then out today!!!!

I am now going to the FFC, they found things like low thyroid etc so I hope I can get off these meds in the NEAR FUTURE!

Thanks again, I cant believe how helpful you guys are!!!!

even though YOUR doctor isn't on call there is SOME doctor on call SOMEWHERE that can help you. Call your hospital or local clinic and let them help you. That is what they are there for.

I am headed to bed, but I will be checking in on you in the morning.

    Good luck,

ALOT ALOT<> I guess I could try my Primary Dr. I guess I just feel stupid and a huge hassel and everything else! I do know thats what they are there for, my brain logically knows that but I still hate to call them. Oh especially the hospital or something, they are TERRIBLE when it comes to anything about drugs like this! They are not kind, and the kicker is I REALLY AM NOT asking for drugs in a wrong way!
    Oh how I hate this!!!
    a zillion thank yous Karen

Hi. Thanks so much for checking!
I tried to call again today but no luck-waaaaaa. This is such a stupid situation I have gotten myself in. I Do though, wish that she would have tried another time to get ahold of me like trying me at HOME--I slept with the phone by my head all day waiting for her to call.

I guess it could be much worse! I at least have something else and not just NOTHING>
No one is in on the weekends at drs either so I guess I wait till monday.
I kinda hurt all over but hey thats usual so I cant tell if thats anything to do with no Methadone.

I thought Drs had to have a emergency number for patients at all times. I guess I am wrong.

Thanks all- for even caring about this~~~~~~~~~ Karen
