    Pain has an element of blank;
    It cannot recollect
    When it began, or if there were
    A day when it was not.

    It has no future but itself,
    Its infinite realms contain
    Its past, enlightened to perceive
    New periods of pain.

    But how often are FM patients misdiagnosed, especially with mental disorders, even today? And they didn't even know what FM was in her day.

    Go on to develop depression and agoraphobia if sick long enough. Add pain to the mix and it's very possible she had it. Of course, there are other illnesses which mimic ours so she could have had something else.

    Looking back and knowing that my Mom had FMS, I believe her Mother also had it but I never knew her, just what Mom told me. She died at an early age with a heart attack.

    I think a lot of what they used to call rhumatism may have been FMS.

    Love, Mikie
