    step right up, please!

Have laid out slices of cool cucumber, corn on cob, and a concoction of bacon and prawn
on top of a kind of little bread piece, dunno what its called but its a tasty snack.

also grape juice, and cold milk for those who are thirsty. sometimes i love cold milk.

Teacher - so glad to hear youve closed the deal. good luck with the moving in.
mind you dont tire yourself out then.

Granni - the sound of grilling hamburgers outside conjures up a peaceful scene.
I would love that. I am praying you get the much awaited rains there.

Julie - good to know you are claiming your own time and space for once. its
so important to know where to draw the line altho i know you love your family
to death, its good you are trying to take care of you.

well, still drained of energy but middle brother came for some work and i
took him to the supermerket to buy somethng he wasnt getting where he is
and i decided on the spot to go and give two hours to the healing centre
    instead of coming back here.

went and found there wasnt any ready work tho the lady there wanted my
input in putting together a healing camp. so we sort of discussed ideas, and
juggled dates and stuff and i know she appreciated my coming there.

on way back i popped into a little boutique as i had to get something for
dhs youngest cousin whose b day it is tomorrow and the lady owner of
the boutique somehow told me she was feeling really bad because she had
just lost a friend to cancer and was in bad shape. so we got talking and
i found out she was also interested in yoga and spiritual stuff. she was
very interested in the pranic healing book i showed her and has expressed
a desire to visit. poor lady, i could empathise with her grief. she said when
people close to her started going, she felt panicky. seems she also lost
her parents to cancer which is what happened to me. i also found out we
had some common friends. so i sat for a while there talking.

then i walked back home. and since my little help took her time coming up
i set to and washed the dishes and cut up veggies and then she came
and i was relieved because i wasnt in the mood to knead dough and
make rotis, (a flat bread grilled) for dh.

the daughter called me from New hampshire where her former schoolmate
had invited her for the labourday weekend and she just loved it she said
she walked all over the place, because it was so beautiful. those parts
luckily seem not to have been affected.

the son has said he has hw to do on computer so i quickly came on.

    you all take care

    God Bless

Spring Water- It looks like Diane also started one. I do not know how to move posts or I would do so. Just got home so have a lot to do. Went to dnetist. Luckily no cavities or crowns, or worse gum disease.

for moving SPRING WATERS post over here. I need to learn how to do that stuff. I'm sure it is probably not that awfully hard but I still don't. It is like cutting and pasting. If I did it right one time I could probably do it again. However, I am still waiting for the first time.

All I can say is thank God the winds changed and are not blowing so hard like the other day. There would even be worse damage than there is already.

Hope you feel better, and Kevin too with your sore throats. It's no fun with a sore or scratchy throat. You don't appreciate what good stuff you're eating and don't really feel like eating a lot. Try some hot tea and honey, gargle with warm salty water and drink a bunch of fluids if you can, juices and such. Up the vitamin C and GSE - you know the rountine - - -unfortunatly !!

I leave for choir practivce ina little while We are going to have our monthly birthday parties in between practice this time instead of after Mass. That might work out better. I'm bad and just picked up some yummy choc. chunk cookies with pecans. I know that director is supposed to bring cake. We have some ladies in our group that are of Filipino descent and they make such yummy dishes.

Well, I will leave for now. Hope to check on you all tomorrow.

    Love,

I am trying to enjoy some home grown produce while posting,
but my lower plate is not cooperating. It's like those tectonic
plates you read about that cause earthquakes. Mine is
    causing a mouthquake.

Anyhoo, we have lots of gold cherry tomatoes. I don't remember
what I paid for the tomato plant, but it was certainly a lot
cheaper than buying termaters at the market.

Just heard from my cousin in Reston, Virginia. He's been
doing family research. My aunt compiled a book a few decades
ago. Said one of our ancestors was a defense witness at the Salem witch
trials. But she didn't give any name.

My cousin found out it was a guy named Jeremiah Vail. For
the next 5 generations, the eldest son was named Jeremiah.
When I was a social worker in N. MN, I found many families
named the first son after the father. They also had a tendency
to name all the kids using the same first initial: Brad, Blair,
    Byron, Beatrice, ...Borrrrrrrrring.

Springwater, "rotis" is bread? I thought it was Georgia's
dog. Are you going back to the boutique to see your new friend?

Granni, choc chip cookies w/ pecans sounds wonderful. I
like pecans much more than walnut. Glad you got a good
    report from the dentist.

Diane, aren't computers the most maddening things? I saw a
video on Youtube where a guy took a shotgun to his. Come
back and post whenever you are up to it.

Julia, that must have been scary to hear that your mom fell.
That's good news that nothing was broken. Gordon asked
for suggestion re: cooking. I said, lasagna. He said the last
time he made it, it cost $20. Cheaper to buy steak.

Gonna be hot here. 3 days of temps in the mid 90s. Yesterday
Zippy was chasing the neighbor's cat. They were both walking.

Gotta try and get to the library today. Have 4 books to pick up.
One is a biography of Billy Wilder. ("Some Like it Hot"). I
read a bio of him a couple decades ago. But I have to take
it. Otherwise they may charge me a buck for not picking it up.

    Later, Gators

Julie - So soarry to hear about your mom falling so hard but glad nothing is broken. Hope she will heal OK and that she won't be terribly sore for to long. I know how that can be. It looks like you will have a very busy week end with Kiera and all. How far is it from home to where your parents are? Hope it isn't to far with all the trips you have to make to see and help them out.

Rock - glad to see you. I surely know what you mean about frustrating computers and wanting to shoot at it with a gun, sometimes. GRRRR!!!

Diane - Glad to see you here at the Porch. Hope you and Kevin are feeling better. We're doing OK, nothing really new just busy. I should be busy doing stuff around the house. DH is playing golf today at another curse since he canceled our membership here. He wasn't playing enough to justify the cost. Also we could use the extra money for other things too.

Need to get up and do something constructive. I also have been working on thte new roster for our church choir with another gal. Got some new people, trying to match their faces with names and their correct information. Hope thenew ones stay. Our new director has been throwing so much stuff at us lately. Hope we can keep it all straight and not scare the new ones off :)!! Hope I can keep it ALL straight too :)!!

    Thinking over everydobby !!

    Love you all,

Rock - lol, about Rotis and Georgias doggie. That was
    interesting about your ancestors.

Julie - oh, im sorry to hear about your mums fall. what
a worry. glad to know there is no broken bones or
    anything.

Granni - i too hope the new people dont get scared
away by too heavy schedules. i love the thought
that people can come and join and sing.

got a whole lot of laundry needs folding and the
dusting is over due now in most of the rooms.
this is what happens when i crash and have
to lay about more than usual.

well, at least i did go out and buy fresh mince
and veggies and make some chowmein. instead
of taking the easy route out and making whatever
was there. we eat too much rice and rotis and
lentils because the ingreediments are always there.

trying to find life interesting. but its an uphill struggle.

rock your post made me laugh. a few in my family named their kids with same first letter. i get all tongue tied when trying to remember their names. and picturing zippy walking and the cat walking too funny.

springwater i hope your energy comes back. i go in spurts. i have to rest between chores. the funny thing isthat when i know someones coming i get a surge of energy to clean up. i watched a documentary on Delhi India today. showing how the slums were torn down when the olympics were there and the poor had no where to go. it was sad these cute kids said their homes and school was gone.

julie so sorry your mom fell. it seems like every week we were at the er with mom. she fell so many times. it sounds like theyre being well cared for so thats a blessing. if moms care center wasnt so nice id probably be grieving even more.

teacher.i know youre overwelmed but how exciting moving into a new house. do you need to do any fixing up? is it a ranch or 2 story? im trying to paint but its a slow process. we always had a painter but now moneys too tight. my dh is worse than me so i dont ask.

granni im glad the fires have subsided some. i saw how many acres were burned but ive forgotten it was such a hugh amount hard to picture. i hope all your new people work out. its good to have new blood.

diane is yourcold better? and your computer? mines so slow its frustrating. at least your dh know a lot about computers. we are comuter illiterate. ask dh about sports and hes an expert.

everyone take care and be safe. it sad seeing all the 9/11/2001 stuff on tv. i remember sheding many a tear. love gail

ps granni you asked how far im from care center. 5 mins arent i thankful for that!!!!

Gail - So glad you are so close to your mom. I sure wish I was but I couldn;t care for her the way I would have liked to my. Between my pain and my hi b/p I don't thinlk I could be very much help and I would feel worse. However, I could have been able to see and visit her more if I was as close as you. My mom wasn't that close to my brother's but in the same town on L.I.

Julie - I had hoped that I had an anniversary card on hand. Hope I get out to get a card for your parents (Anniversary). Hope I get out and get it off on time. The thing is I don;pt know how long it will take to get to you from TX. I have lots of cards on hand but no Anniversary.

Hope she isn't to sore from her fall. Thinking of you and Kiera this weekend. Nothing to exciting going on here really. I am watching or should I say listening to recounts of people who lived through 9/11. Oh, I remember where I ws too when I heard about the tragedy. Sunday will be very sad. It is now when I think about it.

Rock - Hi there. Hope your cocmputer is behaving itself and you too :)!!! Of course you always behave don't you (he he) :)!!

    Happy Moving Teacher !!!

Time to go watch some TV and then beddy bye. Have to get up super early tomorrow for a lady who is going to help me do some cleaning. We will see how long this lasts. Hope I can afford to do this for awhile. I know she is a good person and goes to our church. Two people I know use her and like her. Very good deal from what I have heard from other cleaning people.

    Love to awl,

Well, our 3 day heat wave is over. How long has the heat wave
been going on in Texas, Granni? 3 months? We still have
tomatoes here. Only got a couple zucchini though.

Today we get our bones cracked. We've been seeing this
chiropractor for roughly 20 years. He's still charging us his
old rate. Works out to about 17 cents per bone.

Hope your move goes smoothly, Teacher. Ha Ha! What are
the odds of that? They say in the Army, one move equals
three fires. (I also read that was a Chinese proverb. But I
suspect folks moved more in the Army than in ancient China.)

Springwater, I wrote something in my notes, but can't read it.
Do you fold a lot of laundry? I don't bother w/ most of it.
I just wad the sheets up in a ball and throw them in the cupboard.
    Works just fine.

Gail, I haven't done any painting for decades. I remember a
few years ago our landlord was painting the house...in the RAIN!
I though, Oh well, maybe that's how they do it in Mexico.

Yes, it's good Granni's group has some new blood. Which
reminds me, when I was a kid I had a book about snakes
written by Raymond L. Ditmars. Read it many times.

Recently I read Ditmars' biography. He was the curator of
the Bronx Zoo. And he made important discoveries about
vampire bats. Most importantly, they don't suck blood.

How was the birthday party, Julie? Does Keira know the
    words to Happy Birthday?

Hadn't seen the gray kitty for a couple days. This morning
it was sitting outside by the back door. Gave it some food.
It is so skittish, I'm sure one of us will die before it ever calms
    down.

Wow, I'm tired from watch my new cleaning and her daughter clean this morning. I was up so early so as to be ready at 8:00 a.m. They were here pretty late too. Maybe they were here for close to 5 hours. It was good tht her daughter was here to so they could really check out what needs to be done and how long it takes to do what. I think they did the upstairs bath and bedroom. I just have to go up and make the bed. Somethings I had really let go even though at first glance didn't look to bad. They did all the floors (except possibly the LR). We hardly ever go in there except if we have company. Told her she could do it next time The upstairs do not need to be done hardly at all unless I have company that uses it to stay overnight. That hardly ever happens except for summers and if one of our daughters from OOT come which isn't that often.

They even did the tile floor in the foyer which also goes into the xtra bathroom. I vacuum it when I can't stand it any more and haven't mopped it in a LOOONG time !!! Glad that is done !!

Julie - Sorry your time with Keira was cut short. I know you were counting on it but like you said maybe her dad is just trying to catch up and is trying now to be a better dad, so to speak !!! Oh well, I guess it is all for Keira's sake, I guess. Hope you get to see her soon again without any interuptions. Also hope he give more notice than he did last time and doesn't take advantage either,

If worse comes to worse and I don't get out to the store I may have to send your parents a card with some written greetings from us for their anniversary. It is to late or should I say I am to tired to go to the store today to buy one and the mail already came. Hope to get one on Monday, so I can send it off in time. However, I also do not know how much time I even need to send it from here. So, it most likely will be at least 3 - 5 days so will probably be a little late. Glad your mom and dad got to enjoy everyone's birthday celebration at the facility. Think you said your mom's birthday was coming up to this month. That campfire idea was a really cute one.

Hope all is well and that you are getting some chores done that were needed, maybe a nap too :)!!

    Hugs to everydobby !!

Rock - couple of cents per bone, okay that is a good deal, haha.
Wish i could go to a chiro. my shoulder back bone cracks on its
own and it feels like a lot of stuff is stuck there.

Julie - Happy anniversary to your parents. agree with Granni
its a good sign that keiras other family are taking more
interest in her. it will be some rest for you and Amy too. Long
as they take good care of her. Also as she grows older i guess
in school and all, kids become aware of stuff like that. And whos
    around and not.

Teacher - look forward to when you begin posting again. i know
you must be busy moving and all. make sure you rest a little
    in between.

Granni - hey that is good you had a lady and her daughter in to
help clean. they seem to have done a good job. five hours straight.
would you believe i didnt handle the laundry yet again. lol! i
got sidetracked by the usual jobs, a little dishwashing and had to
sort out DHs clothes and his luggage for a four day visit out of town.

brain fog here and this is all i seem to remember.

Diane - thanks for dropping by. I try to read your other post
when i can. i love reading about your life there with the
kittens and cooking and all. its comforting.

Gail - i saw the program about the slum kids. did you
know that the little girl from Slum Dog millionaire her
father tried to sell her to an elderly arab sheikh
thats how poor these kids are. luckily someone
found out and NGOs stopped it.

the daughter gave her weely call and told me
her pranic healng went on really well when she
used it for her constipation. she hadnt gone
for three days and after healing had three
bowel movements in one day. thats great.
in beginning she tried to pretend she was from radio fm
and that i had won a coupon but i recognized
    her voice at once. hah!

well, my chinese friends sisters b day is today and
she has invited for lunch. trying to juggle between
getting dhs stuff ready, going to healing for two
hours and this. but i havent met their whole gang
for long and looking forward to it.

their food is always elaborate and tasty all three
sisters being very good cooks. and her brother
and his wife who live above them chip in so i
know it will be a good spread. but i wil have to
be careful my stomach is a bit raw. result of

my sympathies on deleting your post; thats happened to me once i deleted a

    i am.

it is so hot and steamy even at this early hour! 5:30am.

i should think about emigrating to canada. most of my dhs relatives have
    emigrated there anyways.

well i went to the luncheon given by my friends sister. i must say i wasnt
in the mood at all. the body was in sluggish mode so i kind of went about
in slow motion gettingready and coloured my grey roots with result it was
two afternoon when i left the house.

coz pc fan shuts down on me

her whole family was there, two elder sisters, younger brother his wife, small
twin sons, then eldest sisters ma and pa in law dh and daughter. and another
regular friend lady of that family.

was glad when it was over. not in social mood. they are the typical
middle class happy family, mostly everythng going great guns with
everyone on all sides of family and it brings home to me the dysfunctionality
withn my own family, siblings and all. sigh.

dh had left for airport earlier, then this lunch so i gave up going to the
pranic healing session it was already 6pm at friends house.

yesterday i did go tho, the teacher healer from india was still there and
asked why i hadnt turned up, he was about to leave for the airport and
made us do a short meditation session. such a shortage of volunteers
    in the center.

i was given training on the healing protocol of a long time patient with
neuro problems and will have to start in a day or two.

    hope it will go well.

Was ambitious today. Attempted to do multiple errands. Turned
out to be hubris, I'm afraid. I got a sandwich at the Subway store
w/ no trouble. But the thrift store was out of paperbacks, at
least out of anything I'd buy. They did have a couple romances,
how-to books, (how to build a deck, how to breastfeed, how to
do both at the same time). I think there were also some appliance
manuals left over from the Carter administration and a bus
    schedule from Cincinnati.

Went to the market. No chocolate milk. I NEED chocolate
milk. It soothes my raspy throat and my frayed nerves. Anyhoo
I went to the second market which did have some. When I
came out I had a flat tire. Uff-da!

Sorry you lost your post, Granni. I know there was one. I
read it yesterday. Nice to read your episodic post, Springwater.
If you were in Norge (Norway) folks would refer to it as a saga.

Who is teaching your son to drive? We had driving training
when I was in high school. Of course, most of the farm kids
learned how to drive trucks and tractors long before they
    took drivers ed.

Julie, I'm glad the b-day party went well. Picturing the wheelchair
folks in a circle made me think of Drop the Handkerchief. I bet
I haven't thought of that old game for 50 years.

I can't find anyone other than Spring Water and Rock the last few days. Hope all is well with everyone. I know many are just busy like Julie.

Julie - Hope all is well with you. I tried to mail my card to your mom today but missed the mail truck. So, now I know it will really be late since the party is tomorrow. Geez, the mail has been coming much later lately. However, you never know around here.

Rock - It is nice to get on and have some sagas going on, unless they are too sad . Mymom used to call those stories SAGAS too. Sorry you had a flat tire the other day after going to the market. Hope you weren't to far from home. Who changed it for you? That is very frustrating I know and hope you didn't have to wait to long to get it fixed.

We also had drivers training at our high school but I didnpt take it since we were bussed into another neighborhood, no bus transportation other than back and forth to school, and we only had one car which my dad was using and my mom didn't drive and we would never have one accessible to me. So, I never took it.

Hope to hear from someone else soon.

    Love to all,
