Hope I didn't catch anyones hands or fingers in the door. Don't forget to check the last volume for Jules Tater Tot casserole recipe and my crockpot easy chicken and dumplings - yummy for both !!

Hope all are well. Didn't have a chance to read everyone's posts very well, maybe later on.

Maybe I should check out a quiche recipe using Bisquick. My mom used it a lot and I think I did some when I had to feed everyone. Bye for now.

    Love you all,

Hope Den has/had a nice birthday considering all the stuff going on in both your houses :)!! I'm all worn out just thinking of all you are going through. As it is I wake up feeling tired anyway and never seem to get enough sleep.

Poor Lorraine with night terrors or whatever you want to call it. It is so hard with little ones with not enough of a speech vocabulary to say what the problem is. Hope it goes away soon so everyone can sleep more peacefully.
I imagine when she cries it wakes up the babies and whoever else is around.

Hope everyone else is doing well, or as much as can be expected. Having a little dinner party tomorrow night tht keeps growing. Very easy with Stouffers lasagna, garlic bread, salad tht someone else is bring and dessert that others are bringing. This is part of the group that goes on the winetrail with us annually plus a new couple.

Horray, my daughter has a temporary job for a week, hope she does well and they keep her. It is at a hospital downtown and in charge of front desk. Hope it goes well and they keep her. She had re registered with another job agency. She trains for 3 days next week and then works the next week. Wish it was for longer. Now she says her computer has a problem so I told her I would help her. Hope it isn't to much. She really needs it for her job searches, I know. I have a feeling it will be a very cheap Christmas or more than usual. Can't believe that is around the corner. UGH !

    Love to everydobby,

Sorry for the caps. To lazy to change them.

Hope others are OK and can chime in too.

Julie - I know you won't be back today since you are going to Keiras for her birthday. Have a great time. It sounds like she is really growing up? How old is she now, 5-6 ish ?? I can't keep track of time any more. Everyone else is getting older but me - ha ! Can't believe it is my birthday next week. Not saying how old I am but you can all guess :)! I'll be as old as Rock and close to Jam I think. Not doing anything exciting except maybe go out to eat, not sure. We will have a gathering at our club with some friends.

Poor Lorraine must have been totally worn out with no nap and getting stung by a wasp. Ouch !! Hope she didn't cry to much. Glad that a coworker is helping Den with his on call today. How cute about Keira and loving the peace sign. How nice you got matching bedding for her room.

Need to finish eating while I am on here and get dressed so can start getting ready for the company tonight.

    Love you and everydobby,

Granni - thanks for opening yet again and great to hear about dd. Hope
it turns out all really well and keeping up the prayers for her as im sure
    everyone all here is.

I hope the dinner turned out really well.

Julie - i wonder what causes night terrors. My littlest brother used to
get them when he was Lorraines age. he would cry and point at the air.
He grew out of it soon enought though.

You all have been so busy as well you might be with all that is going on.

Im glad to hear Lindesy took to the homeopath. Wonderful if something
    works for us.

Been low on energy these past few days. Me and younger brother took
big brother his food at the hospital on Thursday.

Friday didnt hv to and big brother got discharged back.

Today he phoned and wanted to come over so i said yes. Obviously.
Made some pancakes for him and fed youngest brother cabbage curry
and steamed bread, our dinner left overs.

The dh has left for out of town for few days. Will hv tv to myself buahahahaa!

i should be kicking up a cleaning storm but just gots no go in me. and im
    not pushing myself.

i mean i need to clean loads because festival is around the corner and the
help will go to their village soon.

my son went out today and was lying in wait for me in the dark in the kitchen
when i came back from shopping. He was wearing this headpiece with red glowing horns on his head. I wasnt frightened. I dont even hv the energy to
get startled, can u imagine that?

we spent a quiet hour together watching a musical show on an Indian channel.

well, theres a nip in the air nowadays in the early morn and late night. winters
    round the corner. yay.

Take care all, I wonder how is Elaine doing..been some time not hearing from
her. and of course Teacher and all.

    God Bless

Julie - You wear me out hon woth all you do for your family. Of course you are a lot younger than I :)!! Growing older by the day, and that is for sure. My b-day is on Thursday but not sur e if we are doing anything that day. Have a luncheon to go to at his Men;s club. The ladies get to go to this one, once a year. We will celebrate towards the end of the month with some friends. Our kids all live to far away to come on a week night and most are just plain busy or live eto far away.

Hope you get some help thos week from your neighbor. Ever little bit helps but try not to wear youself out and get sick again !

Spring Water - You are busy to I know with your sick brother and everyone else . Hope he is doing OK or better. My daughter seems to be doing fairly well all athings considered - mostly fatigue and a lot of hot flashes she says. I know tht can drive you crazy as I still have them sometimes and i should be over those darn things. Fatigue is also another thing I have owst of the time. I think the pain just drags me down.

Rock - Hope you are doing OK . Don't we've heard from you in a little while. Miss you when you don't visit. Hope you and Zippy have been taking those walks - good for both of you !!

Joan - How are you sweetie.? How are you coming in your moving prep? I know what a mess that is and glad you will have your own computer.

Worrying about all our Porchies. I even sent a note to Elaine . Hope to hear something from her soon. It has been way to long and I have not been that great myself in sending messages.

Hope everydobby is doing OK including all those MIA's.

    Lov e to you awl,

I have made chuck steak, round steak and stew that way. Haven't done that in awhile. I guess when it starts to get colder I will do that, especially the stew. That does make an easy and yummy gravy !! Thanks for the idea again. I need to do that. I have lots of cr. of mushroom soup on hand for stuff like that. I used it today for my pork chops, with canned mushrooms and some soy sauce in the soup/sauce.

I can see it might be to gasey for Lorraine and Linds since she is nursing the babies. I love the onion soup too. Hope you get some rest tonight Julie.

Georgia - That is nice to hear about your cousin and that Gpa is doing well with his job, etc.

Need to leave for now. I sent a short mail to Elaine. Hope to hear from her soon and that she is feeling well or better.

Missing so man of our MIA's Teacher, Jole, Joan, Carla and many more.

    Love to you awl,

I have news from the world of supplements. Gordon brought home
a flyer from some scam artist that is selling 6 products. All are
described as "an herbal combination". Not a word about what
herbs appear in these combinations. The entrepreneur's
qualifications are that he has a background in nutrition and
    biology.

Well, la de da. Who doesn't? We all have such a background
by virtue of being alive and frequently eating.

Julie and Granni, the mushroom soup treatment in the crock
pot sounds very tasty. I remember some decades back
when the new recipe was some cut of meat covered w/
mushroom soup, Lipton soup powder, and wrapped in foil.
Roasted in the oven. I think this was just a few years before
    the crockpot made its appearance.

Julie, your chicken mayonnaise dish sounds good too.
Maybe some day we'll be able to fax things as well as
words. I'll send you some of Norskie cookies.

Yes, Granni, I think we decided I am a couple months older
than you. But no matter how old you get, I will always be
    more immature. Ha Ha!

Georgia, that's great that you have a picture of your gr-gr
grandmother. I remember visiting a second cousin in
Minneapolis during the 60s. She had pictures in the living
room of her great grandparents from the 19th century. I
only have pics of my grandparents on the maternal side.
My grandfather looked very distinguished. (Nothing like
    I.) Ha Ha!

Springwater, glad to hear your brother came home from
the hospital. Is the prognosis uncertain? Red glowing
horns?! Is your son crazy? Doesn't he know that's a
good way to get a punch in the nose? Well, I guess he'd
have a red nose to go with those horns.

Zipper and I had a nice walk y-day afternoon. The weather
was balmy, and there was a gentle zephyr. I used to have
a company car named Zephyr (Ford). Great car despite
    the insipid pink color.

Anyhoo, I was thinking, I bet Springwater would think
it was a treat to see all the flowers in bloom and the Victorian
    homes.

Guess I'll try going back to bed.

Julie and Rock - Yes, today is my birthday. Actually have some cards and e-mails from kids and friends . My daughter with the canacer sent me some lovely flowers. The partying will have to wait till the end of the month where some friends will be coming to celebrate our Oct. b-days. We go to the club and have pasta (fixed at the pasta station) with salad and bread. If we don't want that we can order from the menu. Also they just started a special thing here at our club, a gourmet meal, once a month. We may go to it next month. DH had heard it was very good.

Julie am glad Lorraine let you sleep in a little bit anyway.

We went to the Men's club luncheon today that the ladies were also invited to once a year. The food was yummy and some of the ladies presented a cute play. It was very nice and I am so full !!!

Yes, I think tomorrow is Joans' birthday and I think I sent her an early Happy Birthday message on FB. I have so many that I have been sending out lately I forget who I sent to already.

Joan - If you get to read this I hope you get to have a wonderful and Happy Birthday and rest before your big move. Hope you are feeling OK.

Spring Water - How are you doing? Hope you are feeling OK or at least have enough NRG to get done what you have to do, like visit your sick brother, make food etc.

Hope everydobby is doing well. Hope to hear from some others, including MIA's. Teacher, Gail, JOle, Elaine everyone where are you????

    Love you all !

for your sweet words. Glad you got to get out and get so much extra breast milk for you or for Lindsay to use for the babies. Wow, that lady had so much extra but that was so nice of her to share with others.

Glad that you will have some help while watching the kids for Lindsay this Saturday while she goes on that seminar. Nice also that you could pop in to the porch to say hi. Miss you when you donpt get on, as well as others.

We had a rather quiet day today other than the luncheon. Afterwards, we just came home and I did some wash (thrilling, huh) and got on the computer. We will get to do some celebrating at dinners later on in the month and beginning of Nov.. So that will have to wait !

Joan - If you pop in I hope you have a wonderful birthday tomorrow. I think that is when it is. Hope you get to have some fun and not have to do more cleaning out, trying to get ready for your move. Do you when it might be yet?

wishing you all the happiness and blessings possible for two lovely people
who are so dear to us on the board.

not much happening here. except for usual. this chemo is a bit strong so
brother having issues with bp fluctuations and discomfort here and there.
today hv to go with him to check his throat, he finds it difficult to swallow
could be tonsils and also to see if his bp meds need adjusting; his wife not
comfy with him taking too high dose.

theyre getting crabby out there so i told brotehr to come here and spend the
day here. his wife is kind of worn out. obviously poor lady.

its sons hols so he will take us to hospital. but ive told him he doesnt hv to
wait for us if its gonna take too long.

Julie - Keira has peace signs all over her things! the little hippie! lol.

Granni - good to hear about daughters progress. has it gone a little cooler
    \there?

Rock - yes yes would hv loved to go on that walk in the gentle breeze and
taken in those beautiful flowers and old houses. sometimes when im tired
and fed up i lay back and think of when i was in america and how beautiful
the places were, the buildings in Boston and the sea, the train ride to Boston.
    so much greenery.

my girl that used to help with dishes and cooking has left for her village
for the festival. since dh is not home yet from China there isnt too much
    overload of work. thank goodness.

Looks like the Tweets and Likes have been taken down - Yippee !!! Just wanted to mention this to you all, in case you haven't noticed already.

Julie - Hope you survive all that activity. God bless you my dear is all I can say. Yes, you are a lot younger so that helps too.

Hope everybody comes back to visit soon now that they seem to be gone. Just surprised that the dear moderators didnpt mention it first. Maybe they thought it best to do it this way.

Have to leave for now and may check back later. If not tomorrow hopefully now that those icons are gone.

Again, thanks dear Moderators !!!! We do love you .

I didn't see the tweets or icons.

Happy belated birthday granni and Joan. Hope it was a good one..

Granni happy to hear your dd has a job. Hope they keep her. My son just got a really good job. Now if he doesn't mess it up. It's a dealer at a casino in Indiana. He has worked there before. He had a car accident Friday and his car is destroyed. He's driving mine which I don't like because he's rough on things.hes 41 but very immature.

String water my sister had problems swallowing too. You think the chemo does that? Cancer is so scary.its hard to make the decisions of treatment.i bet everyone is worn out. When I had to go the hospital I felt like lying in the bed.

Rock I've fallen for some of those miracle supplements. I was willing to try anything to help my fibro. I've spent thousands.the Victorian houses are beautiful. Do they call them painted ladies? All the beautiful colors.i have pictures of great greats no one smiled. My great grandmother looked like a bulldog. She was divorced and cut great grandfather out of all the photos.

Julie my dgs got into a little trouble too at first. I was shocked. He talked too much and rough housed with the boys. This year is better.i watch my babies off and on.nothing like you though. I think my dh pays more attention to these babies than he did his own. Lol he was working all the time then.

I've been dieting for 2 weeks and I'm crabby!!! I want to lose weight because I want to see my new babies grow up and I don't want to burden my kids.but dieting stinks!!! I'm hoping I can stick to it.

    Take care all. Love gail

Gail - Good luck to you in your dieting !!! IO know that it is not an easy thing to do. I have never had a problem as a kid and growing up but have gained some weight the past few years, with less activity and my metabolism having gone to next to nothing :)!! Haven't gained a lot but enough that some of my slacks don't fit or are awful tight. However, I did lose a bit after switching from Synthroid to Armour Thyroid. Luckily I didn't have loads of weight to lose as I love to eat and good food to much :)!!! Hope you lose some or enough to give you the confidence and will to continue. It is not easy, I know.

Thank you for mentioning my daughter and her temporary job. Unfortunatly, this is just for the week. She is taking the place of someone going on vacation. So the search continues- ugh !!

Julie - Sorry that Kiera is causing problems in the classroom. None of us want our children or grandchildren to be anything but perfect in school and in the social settings. However,it is a bit of learning experience for all of them but some just need more time and patience (patience for the parents, gparents and child as they work for them). I am sure all of you all will be talking to Kiera about her actions and why they are not a good thing.

Glad you got a chance to get away with Den, at least on one of his jobs. It is nice to get away and out of the house. Hope you do get some time for yourself before you fall apart running from house to house :)!!!

Have been having problems with this computer. My Favorites all disappeared from Yahoo. So, I had to search for them and put them up in the toolbar. That is not where they were before . Don't know if Yahoo is changing things or if I pushed soemting I shouldn't have. So, I have been fooling around , putting things up in the tool bar and deleteing some I didn't mean to delete, etc. These machines drive me crazy sometimes. I would rather have the Favorites on the side then in the tiny tool bars. Oh well !

Spring Water Rock, Joan, and others where are you???

    Love you all,

Belated birthday greetings, Joan and Granni. Haven't read the porch postings in several days, and missed reading about your b'days.

We had several tornadoes in the area yesterday--one had 100 mph winds. Not only do we have earthquakes, but tornadoes now, too! Weather out here has really cooled off.

I found out that a set of grandparents on Mom's side both died in 1850 of cholera, as they were travelling to CA from Missouri. They left five orphaned girls and one son. They died shortly after crossing the Platte River in Nebraska. Lots of tragedy on that side of the family. We know what happened to three of the children--the others were probably farmed out to other families when they reached Sacramento.

Thinking of making some homemade bread tomorrow.

Had signing in problems. Guess third time's the charm. I can't remember ever
hearing of tornadoes in CA, Georgia. How often do they occur in your neck of the woods?

The pioneers followed the Platte River for a long ways, I think. It was shallow
and muddy. The saying was, "To thick to drink and to thin to plow." The
courage and stamina of those people was astonishing.

Yes, B-day greetings to our birthday girls, Granni and Joan. I think there are a
    couple on the lounge too.

Gail, I bought a book at a yard sale titled "The Painted Ladies". It seems to
refer to a group of Victorian homes on a steep hill. They are painted in
vibrant colors. We only have a couple like that in our neighborhood. We do
have a group of three that are painted shades of blue with white trim and
    gilt decorations. Very classy looking.

Yes, whenever I tried dieting it made me crabby too. I was slim till middle age when the CFS truck hit me. Then I gained 30 pounds. I was so depressed and so out of touch with reality I didn't know I'd gained a ounce. Uff-da!

Now nobody cares what I look like (including me), and there is no point in
discussing the health aspects since I am beyond help in the area.

Springwater, Son has a break from school? How long, and is he doing anything
special? Is his English as fluent as yours?

Lots of flowers in bloom here. Some bloom pretty much year round like the
roses and geraniums and lantana and the bird of paradise which actually does
look a bit like a bird.

Filming is scheduled for this weekend. A small project apparently since no
parking restrictions have been posted. Sometimes they show up with a dozen
trucks and 3 trailers and a catering truck and take up all the parking on 2 streets.

    All for now

nice to come on and see some updates.

Granni - ive given up trying to fix my computer; has a mind of its own, but
i dont need to do too much here, email, surfing thats it. so it suffices.

Julie - dont worry too much about Keira right now. my daughter was kind of
aloof and stubborn when she was 3 in playschool and till a few years later.
she got isolated when her then school got dismantled and we had to put her
in another school for a year. the girls were mean and didnt let her join them for lunch etc. she just had one other friend. maybe coz my daughter was kind of sassy and never took rubbish from others. luckily she got a seat into the school
we wanted the next year. and joind her brother. and this was opposite. she just jelled right in. she immdtly made her best friend who is still her best friend till now,
the friend even stayed with her couple of months this year till she got an internship in Boston and left. and their group of five girls were the IT girls in
school so to speak. they took part in everything. games, dances, quizzes.

son on other hand was such a bright boy in kindergrten till grade v. very outspoken, talkative, funny lots of friends. then he just changed and i dont know what happened. became solemn and withdrawn. altho still vastly popular with friends. but hes very socialy ill at ease with our relatives etc.

Gail - thats nice to hear about your gs and his job. hope he will be careful driving. boys are always a worry. they love going fast.

Georgia - interesting stuff to unearth about your relatives. I wonder what
i would find out about mine. moms side hails from mountainous areas so they
probably were nomads with livestock. and dads too only they must hv been
living on windswept vast plain areas of Tibet. dont know.

maybe i should find out. i just read and found out one cousin from dads side
has made a film 'Vara'. altho he is a monk he also directs english feature films. im sure he will know more.

Rock - yes its the festival break for son. but he is not doing anything special.
since his father s not here, he is not supposd to even stay out long in evenings.
yesterday he went out during day and then came home and helped me cook dinner becoz its a tradition to feed my help during this time. the man friday is here with his family and some other kids so there were like six extra to feed.

    glad thats ovr with.

normally we would hv gone to visit dhs uncles family today but theyve postponed till saturday. we al supposed to go and receive blessings and vermilon
(tika) at our community center and hv lunch but ive begged off. tired.

tinku our dog is on heat and its one more job keeping her away from the other dogs.

yesterday big bro and littlest came. stayed for the day. i was too busy to cook]
anything special just gave them pancakes wich id made coz there s no bread in market because of festival.

my niece called. she talks fine. but scared to ask her to visit. what if she
has another fit and runs away or something?

    well take care all

    God Bless

Hi Spring Water, Rock, Julie, Georgia and whoever else I may have missed . Not to much else going on hee. Have to leave shortly to go to our Ladies Association Trade and Craft Show. They have some nice things. May not buy anything but love to look. Have done that most of my life, did a lot of looking and not buying. However, buying sometime is a fun and great thing, no matter how small. Maybe we can findThen we will have lunch. Choir practice tonight. I'm tired already.

BTW, my daughter who has/had cancer just had her bloodwork done after getting her 2nd RX . Her lab work has been looking pretty good. Next Monday again she has her 3rd Chemo RX. After that she may have just one more and is looking into radiation. She is doing everything she can to try and make sure it doesn't come back at all.

My 3rd daughter is working temporarily this week . Keep up the prayers for a permanent or a permanent PT job !!!!

SW- Hope your neice is doing better. I know that is a big worry for everyone.
Yes, do your children speak English as well as you do. Yes, you speak so fluently and I think would make a good writer. Do write so wonderfully about your family, country and life in general. We love and appreciate you so much.

Joan/Lilac - Hope you see this and are able to take a break from your cleaning up and getting ready to move to let us know how you are and how you celebrated your birthday. Do you know when you will be moving yet?

Georgia - Glad to see you pop in again. As you can see the icons are gone. So no need to worry about them. I know you are busy with genealogy, knitting or doing something with your wool.

Have to get ready to go for now !

    Love to everydobby,
    Granni
