She posted a message on the chit chat board for some support. Her husband is home, doing ok I guess but he is giving her a really hard time. Please do post to her on that thread and maybe if she comes back here to the Porch there to.

She is very upset. Please do send her your love, prayers and try and help to boost her spirits.

    More later to you all.

    Love, Granni

Well the family reunion was interesting to say the least, everyone that I met was very nice. We will be attending a 35 anniversary party somewhere in W Tx sometime in April....it was a place that I have never heard of.

I spent the majority of the evening entertaining 16 kids, ranging in ages from diapers to 15. Many games of Simon Says, Mother May I, Freeze Tag and many more. They wore me out.

I am making sausage and peppers for dinner, with pasta so there should be enough for everyone here on the porch.

Marta, I hope your storm wasn't that bad, I will send you some warm S. Tx weather, how does the mid 70's sound?

Julie, It seems like weeks since your flu bout started, GMA said that this season is going to be longer than normal.

Rock, I am not much into white chocolate, but milk or dark, the more the better. I went to the produce market today and got some cauliflower as well. Yummy!!! Do you put a cheese sauce on yours? I am a steamer with a little lemon or lime myself.

Elaine, I love being close to my family, We are all spread out all over the country, but we all speak often.

Granni, I hope you didn't wear yourself out weeding...if you didn't I have a flower bed that is in dire need. LOL!!!
I will even feed you dinner!!!

Ck, I bought some strawberries to make some bread, now all I have to do is find the vol. that has the recipe. I will do that tomorrow.

YC1, my prayers are with your family.

Hi to all that I missed I hope everyone is feeling well.

We went on an outing to the Evergreen air museum, saw the real spruce goose airplane howard hughs made and flew, or tried to fly. It is quite gigantic. I actually touched a piece of history. It is made mostly of birch and not spruce. I tried to find a postcard picture to show everyone but I could not find one that really shows how huge it is.

The mueseum had lots of other fast warplanes and a titan missile or two. My favorite had to be the spy plane. I think I would have made a good spy!

Needless to say, I am pooped today but at least I did go on an outing and had a good time.

    Well, got to skedaddle,

    See all you porchies later.

    Jinlee.

Just woke up from a long nap. Came home from my morning Emotions Anonymous meeting and fell asleep. Gordon and I toyed w/ the idea of stopping for lunch. (We eat out once or twice a year.)

Anyway we poked our heads into a couple restaurants, but the noise was too loud for me, so we came home. Too bad. I really was anticipating some Mexican cuisine w/ a margarita.

Here's a travel tip for you. If you come to Los Angeles and visit Olvera Street (oldest street in LA lined w/ Mexican restaurants and shops), be careful about ordering margaritas.

Last time I was there we were sitting down and the waitress (excuse me, the server) asked, "Margaritas, all around?" So somebody said yes. They were $10 apiece. And that was a couple decades ago. Dios knows what they are today.

The tell you w/ a smile you can keep the glass. You can guess how much they're worth.

But what I started to say, what was it anyway?...Oh yes, that's too bad your post vanished MrDad. Very annoying. I see this one is getting long. I shouldda done it in my mailbox. I'd better post this before it puffs away.

I don't even know where the Spruce Goose is anymore, Jinlee. It was in Long Beach for decades. Never heard it was made of birch tho. I guess it was called the spruce goose cause nobody could think of a bird that rhymed w/ birch. (I can think of a fish that rhymes w/ birch.)

Our office used to handle claims for Howard Hughs back in the 60s. Of course no one ever met him, but my boss sometimes had lunch w/ his chief of staff Robert Mayhew.

Hughs owned 5 casinos and lived on the top two floors of the Desert Inn. Could you take the elevator to those floors? No way!

Well, it's a good thing I'm typing this in my mailbox as the computer froze up again.

No, Bevy, I don't make anything as sophisticated as cheese sauce. But sometime I put a slice of cheese on top and apply the microwave. Pretty much the same thing.

Haven't played "May I" for a while now. We called it "Captain, May I". My favorite step was the banana twirl.

Think I will post this before it too vanishes. Back later, friends.

Well we didn't make it to Chucky Cheese, the line to get in was a mile long. I was kind of glad though. I really wasn't up to smelly kids feet and kids yelling all over the place, LOL. Anyway, we went to Cracker Barrell instead, they had a ball there, we had to wait about 40 minutes but the got to shop for candy (i pretty much spoil them) and 1 toy. They had a blast.

ELAINE,just in case you didn't read my last post, here is what it said: Your sister sounds just like my sister, she tries to get me to go to the bars with her all the time. As a matter of fact she is doing that tonight while i watch her daughter. Bars are definetly not for me anymore, for one think i definetly could do the drinking and partying like she does.

That is so nice of your brother to do that, you are very lucky.

Okay, now I can say Elaine is my new Sister, LOL

I am so glad i got a nap in today, these kids are keeping me hopping. It is 11:00 and i finally got them to sit on the big sectional downstairs and watch a movie on the big screen. They are being quiet for now. Yahoo.

BEV, I guess i shouldn't complain too much. 16 kids to entertain, I think i would go nuts. LOL. I am glad you had a good time.

JINLEE is funny you said pooped. On the way back from Cracker Barrell I said to the kids "I am pooped out" and they were cracking up and couldn't stopped. I guess they never heard that expression before.

ROCK, I have definetly played Captain May I, but I have never heard of the banana twirl, and I can't even think of how that would be played. LOL, please tell me.

JULIE - You mentioned the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Program. My daughter Ashley (the senior) has been a volunteer in that program all through High School and she loves it. I am sure she will continue to volunteer once she is out of high shcool as well.

Take care everyone, Goodnight Julie, Jinlee, Joan, Elaine,Granni, Mrdad, Rock,Georgia, Carla, Candy, Linda, Bev, Monica and any other Porchies I have forgotten.

Hope everyone has a great weekend--

Up early, as Mr. Mechanic was snoring!

Lila, you're in my prayers, and I hope that you and your husband are both feeling better soon. ((((Lila))))

Not doing too much today--I've already fed the critters, watered the indoor plants, and need to get a coffee fix--think I'll do some sewing today.

I'm back into reading May Sarton--am reading her book, "After the Stroke", which describes her recovery after having a small CVA. I can relate to alot of what she is saying--a good read.

    Hello to All--

I do hope all are having a pleasant Sunday! I can see, however, that the Union Rep must have arrived and mandated
(through democratic vote of members) an ORGANIZED SLOWDOWN!
Not unusual for the weekend to slow down a bit as people are
busy with family and other "distractions".

Boy, we sure had a busy week on the PORCH! It's great that
we all have an opportunity to visit in a venue of support
    and friendship.

It's sunny here in SF today, but shouldn't get more than 64
or so. That will be comfortable enough to be outdoors and
do my walk to the Park and the "count". Sit on the park
bench for awhile and take in the view, (of the City of course)
Lots of doggies in the Park too.

Gonna find some toast and coffee and get this day started
    Kids. Have a great day! I'll b-bac later, "K"?

    Hey there Porchies,

I went to church and sang in the choir the morning. Then came home and changed clothes before going to the gym. However, the treadmills were all taken up with those joggers and hogged up them up for quite awhile So, we did a few machines and then left. When home and had some lunch and DH went out to do some more power washing of the walks before the rain starts and then I did a little weeding.

Bevy - Sorry I don't hire out as a weeder (-: !!! I really do it as little as possible as it kills my back even more. Really, I try and get away with it as much as possible when it gets really bad and or DH starts pushing for me to help. I usually don't do it for to long at a time but occasionally I just get mad keep doing it as I will only have to come back again and it another day. I wish we could afford to have someone come in and do the housework and the weekd, planting and stuff. My get up and go got up and went a long time ago.

Candy (YC) - So glad that you love the Porch as much as I do. Sometimes it is hard to keep track. Porchies come and go but if you come and visit a time or two you are a Porchie. Most people love it but it can be hard to keep up with. Just don't worry about having to write to everyone all the time. It is impossible !! They are so understanding, supportive, smart, witty and everything else all rolled into one.

So sorry to hear about your sister especially. She is so young to have to deal with , I think you said ovarian cancer. My MIL died at age 51 or so of the same thing - just terrible. Of course they have so much new stuff now to help but I just hope she does not have to suffer so much with it. I think that is cute that you FIL won't have his coffee unless it is with you.

Welcome Sisland - Hope you like our porch. Just grab a blankie, a rocker,& some hot cocoa and relax !! I'm sure you will enjoy it. It is so easy topop over here from the chit chat board where you usually hand out along. MMM- that bread smells delicious. Is it done yet ?? BTW, you werenot COMPLAINING, you were VENTING. Tha is what this Porchis for besides having fun.

S-Elaine - Hope you are enjoying yourself. You should fit right in. You are never ata aloss for words. You also keep us entertained too (-: !!

Julie - Hope you are feeling better and you family too. You sure have alot on yourplate and feeling unwell is not good. Of course most of us feel that way all the time , not inc the other stuff like flus. Actually I feel most days ike I have the flu but no fever, just pain -ugh !!

Jodie - Haven't heard from you in awhile. I haven't forgotten about you. Hope school , Cody and everything else is finally going well with you wih all the stuff you have had to deal with. This is a NEW year so GO GIRL !!!

Mrdad - Thanks again for getting us started. Hope you have a quiet and relaxing day today.

Hi to all I didn't mention - CK, Linda, Marta, Mickey, Lacey and everyone else that I know I have forgotten.

    Love to you ALL,

    Granni

I am having a horrible day. My post vanished. And I fixed myself a bowl of bran (ugh! like eating hay) and promptly spilled it.

Gordon said it didn't matter, but I see it as further evidence my sense of balance is impaired, so in that case it does matter.

This means we are both right. Haha

The computer is more treacherous than a terrorist in a Mardi Gras parade.

While I was cleaning up the spill I bit my tongue. Now that half my teeth have been pulled, I have become a menace to myself and bite my tongue or lip frequently. Wouldn't you think it would be the other way round? The more teeth the more danger.

So my day is ruined and my life is ruined. (This is what they tell you not to do in Cognitive Therapy.)

I think I will go lie down and read for a while. Maybe when I come back I will redo my treatise on the Banana Twirl.

Hey Linda. I've found it helpful to close one's eyes before
they start putting me into the MRI tunnel. Also ask the
tech to let me know when I'm about 1/2 thru so I know that
I can see "the light at the end of the tunnel"! I have to
do that every 13 mos. to see what's happen in'with my Liver.
Hope your event goes easily are you and home quickly.

Oh Rock! Sorry your day did not go well. I thought of Gordon
as we had an Orchid Show this weekend. I didn't go but I'm
sure thousands did. Do hope tomorrow will be a better day
4 you my friend. You, evidently, had the kind of day I had yesterday!

YC1: Lots of illness going around late this year. Seems as
the Flu Vaccine missed it's mark this year and not as effective as they usually are. So sorry that you haven't
been well and that the Family is experiencing such serious
problems. We shall keep a good thought!

Mickey: Years ago when my "kids" were very little I'd take
them to Chuck n Cheese to do the play activities, right
after we had a Pizza at ROUND TABLE! C&C almost went "belly
up" in the '80's which seemed like near "poetic justice".

Hi Elaine! Hi Granni, the "Lil Guys' Daddy is flying down
to Austin for the Music Fest. Told him ya'd have a Lunch ready for he and the friends! OK?

Georgia, I'll bet it was beautiful up your way today! Bee-
    Kee-Knee weather 4-sure!! Umm banana bread!!! It's so great that your friend appreciates your company and cooking;
that he also likes to cook and help around the house.

Well, I know I missed lots of greetings to lots of Porchies.
But do wish you all a big hello as well. Hope all awake to
    a bright and sunny day!

Looks like I made it before MRDAD changed it to 195. YOu would not believe yesterday. It was 78 degrees, WOW. I was in shorts and washed both cars inside and out.

Today it is 34 and dropping. Later this afternoon we are supposed to get sleet all night and then turning into snow and we are supposed to have 3 to 6" of snow by tomorrow afternoon. Can you believe it. This is really strange weather. We were 1 degree shy yesterday of breaking a record.

Today, I feel horrible, my body feels like it has been walked and jumped on. I think cleaning both those cars yesterday did me in. Oh well, just something I am always going to have to deal with.

LINCAMP, I have lidoderm patches on my elbows, hips and knees today. They do make it feel better for about 10 minutes. LOL

Oh well better get some work in, who knows if i will make it in tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a good day--

Mr. Dad, we had very high winds yesterday, and was cold, so we stayed home and watched TV, and I made more banana bread. Can't remember who mentioned they made yeast bread, but it sure sounds yummy.

Fibromickster, hope you are feeling better today. When I do too much physical work, the next day I feel like I have the flu, too.

Elaine, good luck on Ebay. How is it going with the Flower Guy?

Have to drive down to work today and get my check before the mortgage payment bounces--I'm taking my Rottie with me, as she loves to ride in the car.

I'm making a traditional German meal tonight, complete with beer!

Well Kids! Here we go again. A news team just announced
that "Daylight Saving Time" begins this weekend! Now, as
many of you know from last year, I don't "turn my clock
ahead". In January, it is dark here at 4:45p.m.! What
do they do with all that DAYLIGHT they supposedly have us
SAVE all Summer!!! Don't be fooled fellow and fellowette
PORCHIES!! It's like that guy on the "grassy knoll"! Show
    me!! Where's the beef??

Ok, I'll settle down now. A made a few more farmer friends here though. Do hope all are doing well. Some how we're
gonna get through all this together and in one piece. I'm
praying for all who have been going without sunshine and
warmth to have both arrive to you soon. Georgia, Rock and
I feel guilty at times, living where we do.

Linda's doing an MRI this morning, and hope we hear from
    her later.

Georgia: Too windy to sunbath on the "Yolo Causeway" yes-
terday? Very little wind here yesterday, but I know the
Valley can surely get that way! At least ya had a nice
day relaxing at home. How's your Rottie?

Mickey: It's nuts going from 78 to the 30's overnight!
Well, I'll bet that 78 was just great for a change back
there. My Son's long time friend and former room mate
was at the BBQ Friday. Thought of you as he mentioned being
a boy and visiting the HOSTESS PLANT in St. Louis. My
"wife's" husbands' daughter lives in St Louis and has a
great job as an Accountant for a large firm. UMMM-Twinkies!!
    Deep fryed!!

Hi to Elaine, Carla, Marta, Candy, Rocky, Grandma, Grandpa,
Billie Bob, Mary Ellen, John Boy, Erin, Ben, and 1Sweetie!
And all others "late for lunch"!

My poor Rottie is exhausted from barking at all the trucks we passed on Interstate 80. Had to bring her home before I go to the grocery.

Mr. Dad, it was awful on the Causeway yesterday--my bee-kee-knee almost blew off!

My goats almost blew away, too. Poor babies.

Elaine, I always do the Banana Twirl when I make banana bread--I get awfully dizzy, though, and end up with batter all over the kitchen.

Think I'm going to need a new stove/oven soon--mine is similar to the one Grandma had, and that was many, many years ago.

Need to go to the store, and knit this afternoon. I'm making shawls for hospice again.

Well now they are calling for 9" instead of 3 to 6. I guess the girls will be going to school all summer with all these snow day makeups.

Georgia, Rock and Mrdad, you all do not need to feel guilty about having the weather you have. It is nice hearing about it and makes it better knowing that we should only have a few more weeks of this yucky stuff.

GEORGIA, you have a snorer husband too huh. If i am not asleep first i might as well forget it or go into the other room. My DH drives me nuts with his snoring. German Dinner, I never had that before, can all of us porchies come????

ELAINE - You could tell your MOM I was switched at birth. I have blonde hair too, so we do have something in common besides this DD. By the way, let me know how Vantage Point was, I really want to go see that too. Everyone says it is awesome and people stand up and clap during the movie. So was there any kind of a connection with your date or did you get that 1st impression of no way no how. My job is busy, I am never bored, which is a good thing, it makes my day go fast, sometimes too fast. That is why i love it here, it is never the same ole thing, something new happens every day here.

SISLAND - He there, glad you joined us. Yes this is a relaxing place, sittin here on the swing with the other porchies and please feel free to complain. That is all you hear from me, complaining about our weather all the time, i am sure everyone is sick of hearing about it. LOL

GRANNI - you are a doll, i just love your posts, you really have so much energy. I used to sing in the church choir years ago when i was probably about 11 or 12. Love ya and take care and DON'T WORK SO HARD, you are making me feel guilty, LOL.

ROCK - What are you talking about your life is ruined. Where did that come from??? YOu just had a bad day, thats all. Now cheer up and make us laugh like you always do!!!! By the way, what is a Banana Twirl, I asked you the other day about that, but I guess you didn't get a chance to read that one.

JULIE - Sounds like your weather was pretty much like ours, however, i know you have it a lot worse. I am sure 9" inches is nothing to you all in your neck of the woods.

I bet you did just to see the Hostess Plant, hahaha. You should come in July, downtown has the best 4th of July party. It is so much fun.

Sorry for the book i just wrote, I will check in later gang. If there is anyone I missed, have a wonderful day and love you all. Bye for now
