Mr/dad -I screwed up again. I don't think I closed vol 66 correctly. I should have started a new thread when I did that huh ??

Sorry, I gotta run and hope to back again soon to post. That granni who really feels like one now.

Sorry I screwed up, which Volume 67 porchlight do I delete now that we have two of them?

There are postings on both of them. I'll gladly delete mine if need be. Thanks Lin for turning it off correctly but I am still confused. I think you are the one that did it (linda).

I think I got on first but I didn't post the off one right believe and posted to many times. I am ready for bed and didn't even take my meds. I had better go and do so .

    Warm hugs,

Don't know what happened here, but my original Vol. 67
was Posted at 5:59 and Granni's at 6:17. I've changed
this to Vol 68. We can Post on 67 then 68 later ???

There may be a "Trial by Ordeal" when SMG returns but I've
survived that boiling oil thing before in the 5th grade!

It ain't the end of the world.
    We're still KOOL!!!

but you can't hide from me!

rockgor, i had tendonitis surgery on my elbow for tennis elbow. they cut me open then took a hot poker to it. threw me in a splint. then i had to go three days w/o a shower.

i start school on january 17th, i don't know how my arm will fair. doc says if the pencil hurts it can't do it. it is a long recovery. he said 12 weeks. maybe more. 50/50% chance of this working for me.

froggygog i am sure you already said happy b-day, thanks again.

mr.dad i was in your neighborhoood today. went to virgin records and bought a few cd's. bought a loretta lynn one that is about portland oregan. it cracks me up everytime i hear that song. reminds me of me. it would've been cheaper to have cody download it for me, but i just decided to splurge on myself.

saturday i will be getting my hair done in s.f. at 1:20 w/my friend. we may make it to bloomingdales to do a little browsing.

i forget what else i was going to say to whom right now, cause i had a friend call me during this lengthy message.

    see ya'll later

Well I am confused...but that is not a new thing so I am going to post anyway on Porch 68. I have not read 67 yet or the end of 66...just went to the latest Vol.

I just wanted to stop in and say Hello to all and to check on everyone this morning. I will be back after I see where I should post.

Room Update: Carpet installed yesterday. Upholstered furniture, mattress & box springs, and comforters arriving at noon today. NO MONEY YET.

I think Mrdad said due to my error and two posts that we should post on Volume 67 and when that is done go to volume 68.

Sorry for all the confusion !

    See you all there !

Happy birthday to the b-day girls. I did express that on vol.67, I think.

Stopped by the porch today to say hi. I think some of us must have gone to the back porch . We just type on any volume of the porch. I promise ,I will never attempt the "new thread post". We might end up on the twilight zone porch if I tried.

Mrdad - you're right! We porchies just go with the flow. No matter what volume we are visiting on. How is the back after the exhausting hide the soap game with the squeeze? I kinda envy you the short visits, the building anticipation and the yada , yada , yada, if ya know what I mean. My husband said he hurt his back taking down the tree. He kept holding his back and complaining. Welcome to my world!!! It's times like this that make me wish he could go away for a few days and I could anticipate his return. Maybe I'll suggest it. I could buy lots of soap and see what happens!!!!!!

Jodie - Glad surgery went well. Hopefully you'll be ready to go back to school.

Ali - Sorry for all your money problems. It is nice that the IL helped out. How is your little girl? What did they find out? I am glad you went to a Childrens Hospital. You should always have children seen by pediatric specialists. A childrens hospital is a child friendly environment with the best pediatric doctors. Anyways, all that is going on in your life you must be really stressed. That's why you visit the porch. You spend a few minutes catching up and laughing at Mrdad and Rocks posts and all is well with the world. Well, at least on the porch.

Weather here is still mild and without the white stuff. Very strange. I am not complaining. I am sure it will happen before too long.

Well, I'll look for y'all on the next volume. Hey, who's on first!

Oops. I just posted on volume 67. I'll trust anyone who had the time, energy or gives a hoot to read there.

Consider it bumped. No grinds though.

Here I am half way through the day and just got up. Usually I am up at 6:00 but today I surfaced untill the guys got off to school and then conked out untill 11:00! Weird! I have to try to get my room picked up a little but I don't even know where to start. Rog has worked some 12 and more hour days lately so things are starting to look pretty bad around here. Oh to be able to help, it's just so d*** frustrating!!!!!

Ah well, like our Marta I should be reminding myself of the good things.

Speaking of which (whom?), Marta I hope things even out and look up for you - no rest is no fun.

Ali, I am so glad you're little one is doing well. There is nothing in the world scarier or more stressful than having a sick or injured child. Hang in there!

Joe I'd oh so gladly send you some of our rain if you are in need. Oh, and can you come hold my computer while I type?

Rock I am happy for your good day. It sounds like a real marathon to me! On the bad ones we can remind ourselves that there will be those good ones. Helps to keep the bogies away.

Hi Lin, the Carlas, Annie, Gilley, Jodie, Granny and oh dear I'm walking into the mental brick wall here but anyone not listed consider yourself "hi'd"

    Hugs all 'round, Gretchen

Hi there porchies, back on Vol 68 after all the FUN we had trying to figure out where to go and where we were in the first place (-: !! <big>

Mrdad and Rock - Thanks alot for your pointers on changing and closing volumes. Hopefully I will figure it all out and do it all right the next time. (he he)

Ali - You did a good job of changing over. That is what a good young mind will do - even one that might be a little foggy once in awhile (better than I). Glad that little Amelia is doing so well. Oh, I know what you mean about trying to get litttle children to eat what they don't want and visa versa. It sure puts a big crimp on things when you are trying to figure out her allergies when they are so little. It will all take time and hope YOU get to get some rest with all this going on and DH working on the wrong shift so you could rest too.

Gilley - I know what you mean about "never attempting to start a new thread" and all the confusion it can cause (-: ! Been there and done that !

Marta - Sorry to hear about all the problems you are having with "Soapie". Hope things start to wtraighten out soon for her. It makes it hard to when you can't sleep properly.

Jodie - Hope you will be ready for school soon. Did you enjoy your birthday celebration? Wasn't it pretty recent, along with Lin?

Sweetie - Don't worry about being confused (especially with the changing porch thing). I can be confused alot of the time. So do not feel badly !! Hope things are straightening out with you on your house, etc.

Well guys and gals, I have been gone most of the day (trying to do some working out (mostly treadmill) -ugh and then to the store) and so better get this house ready for a little company tonight. Also have to TRY and get myself ready to look decent (not an easy task some days). Going out to eat and then maybe back for a drink, dessert, etc.

Gotta run now. Stay warm, dry and happy !!!

    Blessings to all,

    Marilyn (Granni)

Wish we all were, but then we would not have gotten to the porch and found new friends from all over. There is always a silver lining!
Does anyone suffer from headaches? Not the typical migraine type. I am being awakened at night with headaches.Usually middle of night and the pressure is midline and behind one or both eyes. I am going to have to start counting my motrin before bed because I wake up and keep taking more without realizing it. It makes for a terrible night sleep. Tried the migraine meds and they don't work. Thought I would ask?

Watched a Garrison K. movie the other night. Didn,t think I would like it but I love Meryl Streep and she was in it. Watched it with the hub, his idea. There were two cowboys, Dusty and Rusty, they sang songs that were hysterical! Never realized that Meryl had a good voice.

Marta - just saw the pic of Sophie, she is adorable. How are things going with the family?

Jodie - you poor thing, an infection is no fun. Make sure you take the meds and keep the area clean and dry. Things will work out with school, esp. with your A grades. Hang in there.

Mrdad - Weather update!!! We hit 50 today but it is raining. Looks like the snow may fall during the week. I've got my boots ready and my snow equipt. for the car. Would rather be getting out my flipflops and sun screen!!Notice I didn't say bathing suit. I'm quite a few pounds from that!
By the way, did you hear about the guy in NYC that was waiting for the subway when another man had a seizure that threw him onto the tracks? This 50yr old guy asked someone to hold his 2 daughters hands and he jumped down and layed on top of him, pushing him down as 4 trains passed over them. No one was hurt. Man, what an amazing thing to do. I am not sure I could have done that. Doesn't say much for me,does it!It is heartwarming to know that there are good people who risk their own life for others.

Lin - Are u still on a liquid or soft diet? Hope the mouth has healed and you avoided the dreaded dry socket!!!

Hello to everyone else. If I am awake tonight again, I will stop by the porch and tidy things for the morning. I made some apple nut muffins and will leave them with some oj. Jerome washed and swept the porch today and freshened everyones blanket. He found empty bottles of absolut!

Are we posting here then, or on 67. I was posting on 67.

Just popped on to tell joe that a lady is looking for him on the fm board. Don't get excited Joseph, she is interested in hemochromatosis and I told her to come looking form you. I forgot to warn her what a flirt you are though.Jodie take care of that arm as these infections can turn very nasty.
Glad Amelia is doing better... as a kid I had a favorite poem about a little girl called Amelia Jane it went like this

    There was a little girl
    Who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her for'ead
And when she was good, she was very very good
But when she was bad, she was horrid!

    She reminded me of myself!
It is Victorian I think-at least the dress in the picture was, this cute blonde curly haired girl in a green velvet dress. I also like my mom's picture of "Bubbles".

---for all our working friends! LINDA, you would most
likely be eligible for SSDI rather than SSI. Really would
go for it if you feel you can make it without having to
work full time. On SSDI I believe you can also pull in
some other extra income maybe doing something you always
wanted to do but couldn't afford the time! SSA has a very
informative sight to look into if ya wish. Sumptin' to
think seriously about. Ya worked long enuff!!

AnnieC. : Thanks. I did reply at your suggestion to our
Neighbor and Friend on the Fibro Bd. concerning the "Celtic Curse". I wonder if it could have been the trigger
for my CFS??? Probably will never make the connection in
    a definitive sense.

I take it that Dan's Sister's don't participate in the
life of the "Old" Folk's! Did they get "screwed" too
in the Past? Oops! (Sorry SMG) I'd ask them to re-imbuse
your IRA at least! Ya can guess I and no other
Sibling has anything to do with my predator Sister and
her Husband! Hope they had a nice Xmas all alone with
the empty chairs to count in their house! I just want
to live long enuff to "right that wrong" and attend to,
a few more BUBBLE BATHS!! Ya know what I'm sayin'?

"Poor" Jodie Girl: I feel so badly for you! Don't let this
thing get ya down. You are doing so well! If ya need to
take time out from school, do it and re-coup! I know you
will get back soon. I'll share a Chateau Briand with ya
some night and I'll even cut it for you! OK?

Ali: Is our Girl doing well tonite? I sure hope so. If
you like Margarita's, you can make it with Saki rice wine
instead of Tequila and you can hardly taste the dif. Use
to do "wine cocktails" in my restaurant and people loved
'em! Cheaper too! Hope ya can catch-up on rest this
weekend and start feeling b etter.

Gilley: Yes, I heard that the blossoms are out in N.Y.C.!
Crazy weather. Have a feeling that SMG will be showing
up on the Porch step soon! Well, it was nice while it
lasted. I did see that Hero being interviewed on TV an d
of cource "The Donald" had to get involved. He gave the
deserving man $10 thou. but played down the part about it
being donations and not ALL the Trump's $$$. What an ego
that Guy has! Ya think he would be too busy wiff business
to be having a spitting match with Rosie O. !!!

Marilyn (Cookie): See, everything is just fine. The
world is still spinning on it's axis and none of us have
fallen off yet! What are your weekend plans? You always
seem to be so busy. It's great that you get out and enjoy
your family, friends and music. Have a great one.

    "talk" to all later, "K"?

I vas off line because it vas very vindy here in Calif. last night. Took about 24 hrs to get back on. Don't worry. I know AT&T will give me a refund. (Hysterical laughter)

Got a catalog of Bargain Books. Has one called "Porches:
American Beauties". Unique celebration of the porch, a structure that can be traced back to the founding of the American nation.

Marked down to $4. Sounds like a bargain to me.

On the same page: Manic-Depressive Illness; The Complete Book of Gourd Carving; Very Naughty Origami; Contemporary American Pottery.

    Something for everydobby.

Marily, how did you get a different font? Jodie, hope your infection is clearing up. Marta, I went back in time and read your post on the previous volume. Carla nl, Dutch tulips look good in yellow, but doubt that you do. Hope you're back to normal soon.

Hugs to all and a big kiss for MrDad.

Nice to see you back Rocky.

Joe, no the sisters are just into their own careers, one is a Dean and along with spouse pretty wealthy and the other is always helped for things like buying a horse month long trips to Aspen or France etc. Neither of them are the caregiver types at all, they are used to paying for services not giving them. They are nice enough but in total denial about Dan's needs-out of sight syndrome. Glad you hooked up witht the celt.

MIL is coming round. She has offered to pay off our mortgage but I think she thought it is a lot less than it is, so this would do. They have signed up for meals on wheels now their source of some of their food supply (me) has ceased, and must be wondering how the heck to actually move sans us. I feel rotten in some ways, but I am 60 and totally unable to remedy this situation.

I think the real issue is that if one is at home working as an unpaid carer, one SHOULD be entitled to have social security points applied, and access to health care via Medicare oneself. In Scotland, this happened, plus I got a caregivers allowance and Dan got disability (even though not a Brit)for being my spouse. Here zilch and zippo though I understand some states actually do help. Anyone know?

Yes, Lin, can you believe this balmy weather. Dan was just at the driving range!!! Jan 6th in Upstate NY unheard of! Your poem was cute.

About 20 years ago I do recall it suddenly turning to 80 mid February for a few days. It is 64 here today, windy though. Meant to snow in the week.
Rocky film buff, I just had a 2005 movie called Mozart and the Whale recommended as it is about two autistic (though high functiing) adults who have a romance and marry (true story) Did you see it?

Hi to the rest here hope you are all well. My arms seem a lot better using Aspercream of all things, but leg and hip/side still a bother.

    Love Annie Cromwell

    Jodie how is the arm?

Hey Rock: Thanks for the big wet SMACK! I can't find
a towel fast enuff or big enuff to wipe it off! Gotta
Google Chinese New Year and find out when. I'll bet
that Gordon knows? Always bring a box of candy to my
Neighbor Chinese Restaurant on their Day as my Friends
and I as well as my Son having been going there since they
first opened six years ago. The food is so fresh and the
place so clean and the cuisine is above any other Chinese
food I've ever had! My Chinese friend Gim loves it and
he is very pickey! Wants Gordon have on the Menu today?

Ali: Hope ya get the house in order but also have a great
day with the Hubby and Girls! You've had a very long and
tiring week! Huggles to you and the Girls.

Linda: Hope ya got to sleep in a bit today. I know what
you are saying about the potentially "long process" for
Disability Benefits but I would think it would be better
to start themas soon as possiblein order to realize a per-
haps "timely" conclusion earlier! In my case, my health
has deteriorated much more since I obtained my benefits
about a year ago. Glad I wasn't this ill when I was at-
tempting to "make my case". You may have to exhaust any
State Disability benies before obtaining SSA benefits??
Anyhow Linda, all things to consider I suppose. Hope ya
    gonna have a great day!!

CK-Carla: I hope you are alright? You have been pretty
guiet since the Animal injury. Are you at the Antique
Store today? Check in as you can, alright?
