We're gonna get started with the Weekend!
I'm here at the Lodge walking Jeeves around and around
outside trying to "sober him up" b-4 SMG arrives back!!

Rock: I was a little boy but still remember how beautiful
Eve Arden was on TV in the fifties on "Our Miss Brooks".
Richard Crenna, as you remember was the tall, slim, intel-
lectually impaired student. He passed away a few years
ago but had quite a long career. Also played the Sargent
in those "Rambo" movies, the guy with the Beret! He had
a house up in the Sierra outside the Town I lived in.
Lee Marvin was also a frequent visitor as he had an
interest in a gold mine just outside of town. Neither one
ever asked me for an autograph though! Think I already
told you the story of Glen Yarbrough in my restaurant. So
I won't even mention it again! Again and again!

It's just that "brain sog" friends!

    "bye 4- now",

Hi Mrdad, I hope you have a lovely weekend :)

We have a ton of snow here but it has been so bright and sunny the last few days. :)

I'm hanging in there, doing ok, except for some back pain I can't really complain.

Hubby and I are going to Toronto tomorrow and staying over night. We have tickets for The Phantom of the Opera tomorrow night and plan on going to the zoo on Sunday with my best friend who is living in TO right now going to teachers college. Hopefully the weather will stay nice for us.

Phantom sounds lke it's gonna be alot of Fun! When I lived
up North, my "Old" Squeeze and I had tickets to see Phan-
tom in S.F. and we were going to stay in the Family home
for the weekend. However, we both became very ill just
prior and mailed the tickets to Friends in the Bay Area
to use. That was 15 years or more ago and the Tics were
about 100 a piece if I remember right! Saw Les Miz here
but to this day haven't seen Phantom. Hopefully some day,
Please have a great time!! Hello to Hubby and Monty!!

Let us know how the performance goes.

Hope that the weather continues to imporove for all of you that have been experiencing COLD weather. Ours is warming up but not hot yet !!

Ali - So glad to see you back onthe porch for a visit. Hope you can finally get some sleep. Do you have to take any meds to go to sleep usually? Yes, I agree with you and Joe that the removal of one tooth should not be to bad. However, I think he ha been listening to other men wh have had a tooth in the front removed. For some reason they had some problems and alot of pain. That is not what you want to tell DH. Then he will think the worst. I had told him it might not be that bad. Hope you get ina good night's sleep for a chanage and feel a little better at least. Love the pics of your girls in their Valentine shirts- so cute !

Had a busy day today running hither and you to get some good buys at Palais Royal BIG sale. I feel so good as I got some famtastic buysat 80% off. Just like my mom, her middle name was sale. The who thing ws she never had any money and so alwasy had to shop for te big sales, no choice there. Youw wouldn't believe what I got for about $65 in clothing. Believe me I still do not do that very often but this can be a good time of year for that.

And yes, to Rock too I love to also shop in the Dollar Stores too. I am not to proud believe me. Have gotten so good thing in there. Rock - hope your back is feeling better !!

Bekah - glad to see you back on the porch for awhile again.

kely but fealt it here. It was like a fast Sonic Boom!

Ali: The picture of the Girls are so-o-o-o CUTE!! They
look like living Angels! They and Hubby must bring you
much happiness! Hope his foot is getting better! I think

----where ever you are? Boy, I even just "banged" the

side of my iMac thinkin' something was wrong with it! Like

one would do a "Jute-Box" back in the '50's and '60's.

It's very quite today and on the "Board" at large?

CK: Carla, did ya work the 'tique shop today? Are you

still feeling fairly well? I do hope so! Hope the "Girls"

are getting along with the Kitty this weekend.

Granni: Anywhere near those expected tornados in down

there in Texas? They must be frightening to see! Think

I'd rather deal with the quakes. Stay safe OK?

Hope Hubby is doing well on the Post operation.

Didn't see any of those Movies being presented tomorrow

night but have a feeling Best Actor will be going to

Judge Seidlin for his Court performance in Florida last

week! He had my 'puter key board flooded with tears

Good night John Boy, Mary Ellen, Billy Bob, Elizabeth,
    Grandma, Grandpa, Grandpa?, Grandpa??, Grandpa!!!???

P.S. "Don't miss the big Academy Award Party tomorrow nite

that 61 year old man can rock!.....

leo went w/me and really enjoyed..then i droppped him off at his house he said he felt like he was coming down w/the flu...well maybe he is just blowing me off....

i did mention to him tonight i thought maybe he was going to flake on me tonight...he said of course not.

but i have some hesitations....cause he will call his exgf still in front of me....or for instance last night she called wanting him to come over for pizza and a movie....he told her maybe she should hook up w/the pizza delevary boy and get some quicker service and discounts or go out and find a new man....

i don't think she wants to let him go. and he tells me they are "just friend's" well i think i am going to have a good talk w/him....

cause he called me today around 1 pm. told me he was going to run errands w/his friend jay...then i pick him up tonight to go to concert and he told me his exgf gave him a saline irrigation thing for something for his ear. and how stuff he was from eating pizza......

well i didn't want him to ruin my bob segar, but well sunday i want to talk to him about if he is truly over her or just wants to run back to her. i don't want to hold anyone up from a good thing.lol i guess was pretty much on and off for 7 years and childhood sweetheart thing....but she according to him and his other female and male friends that i have met said it was not a good relationship///the exgf was not a nice person.

well anyways i need to do some tax stuff, file for my federal financial aid stuff this week..and a grant for being disabled.

my psychology teacher said she would write me up a letter, and especially she knows what type of student i am....

    she is a great teacher....

Yea!! We 61 year old guys still know how to Rock Out!!
I really like that new guy's "stuff," Cat Stevens!

Remember, it's not too late to pay your respects to James
Brown! Taking bets on who's gonna get buried first. He,
Anna Nicole or Ted Williams. Oh, boy. What a circus.
I predict that Judge Seidlin from Florida is gonna win in
the "Best Actor's" catergory tonite! His acceptance speak
will be within the alloted time frame, but lots of self-
    thanks and tears!

Sounds like Leo is doing "much better"! You're smart and
I'm sure you will handle the situation to your advantage
one way or the other. Take care Kiddo!!

i'll have to check to see what time it went off.....

leo is still assumbably sleeping. i'll figure out the whole thing.

i know i have a good friend of mine that still is good friends w/her exbf..and it is only platonic only....

but i guess when i have been cheated on by my exhb you sometimes have to wonder. maybe it is my insecurities...but i have not met leo's exgf...well it is 10:30 pcft and still no word from leo....maybe he is sick w/flu. i don't know. so i am not going to bother calling him at all. he knows my number.

well gonna see what i can conjure up i regards to my taxes. i have to claim my spousal support and it is not cut and clear as to how much i recieved last year. confusing form. then i have to do the ssdi and the casino winnings. thank goodness i took money out of that at the casino.

maybe i will have a refund...

    talk to you you later.

Well, I decided to check in on the porch and see it has been rather quiet with mostly Jodie and Joe chatting back and forth. I am sure it will get busier as time goes on. Hopefully, eveyone else is just having a good weekend or a agood rest !!

Mrdad - No, I am not sure where the tordados were but they weren't around here thank goodness. To tell you the truth this weekend I have not been to close to a TV News program. Read some of the papers today, but not all of it.

Jodie - Glad you had fun at your concert. Good to get out and have some fun of a different nature once in awhile . Guess "Leo" is doing better (if he doesn't have the flu). Just be careful and I know you will do the right thing, whatever it may be. As Joe said you are smart gal am sure you will do whatever you think is right, esp for yourself. Atagirl Jodie, don't call him ! Just wait for him to call you !! Personally, I think it is rather rude for someone to call an ex gf in front of the present one !(You did say he called her, right ??)

Sorry to bring this up again but I am just curious, do you or he ever find out where he got that 6 weeks to live stuff??? Either he was just very scared or someone was trying to hurt him and possibly you too. I just can't help wondering, as the whole thing has been so weird from the beginning you found out about is illness.

Bekah - I hope you had a great time seeing Phanton. I'll be it was wonderful. Hope youare feeling well too.

Bye for now to all. Maybe next time I check in there will have been more visits form lost Porchies and Lodgers.

Hi to all I didn't mention today. Hope you are all well (as can be expected) and happy !!!

    Hugs all around,

I just wanted to check in. I have been taking advantage of the warm weather we have and got my shed cleaned out.

I have a wood planer and when I made my base boards I never cleaned up because we had that cold snap.

Does anyone have any suggestions of how to use 3 garbage bags of wood shavings?

I cleaned some things out and am actually going to have a workable shop in my shed.

I'm watching the Oscar Red Carpet, I love to see all the beautiful gowns.

I did sell the first abstract that I posted this week. Dcnfingers bought it. So said it spoke to her and she had to have it. It made my day. Then a guy came in the shop and said he was looking for landscape paintings but we only had 2, while talking he said he was a builder.

I am still trying to find someone to build my deck. So I showed him pics of my house and that file had one of my paintings in it and he said he wants to buy. We exchange info, all I can do now is hope he calls.

I'm not going to try to answer everyone tonight, I did over do it but now it is done- have a good night. Carla

I'm just dropping by to say hello tonight. DH and son have been working on son's truck, again. They put in a new motor. I will be glad when they get done and I can have my car back. For now, I have to rely on my daughter (not dependable), or my 80yr old mother (very dependable), to go during the week. On week-ends I have my car. I was getting cabin fever this past week.

I went to church today, then me and mom did a Wal-Mart run, this afternoon. My 19 yr old cat is looking poorly. I bought flea shampoo, flea control stuff to put on his coat, hairball remedy, and Sr. cat food, new food dish and self-watering container. I'll do what I can for him. The last bath he had at home was not a happy time to remember. I told DH I would do that when he and son are at work. That way, we'll have the whole house to wrestle in. Any volunteers to help me???

My Rollie cat is just really old now, he has some skin issues, and bald spots where his hair is falling out. I can't afford to take him to the vet, trying to do at home care to see if I can perk him up. Poor old guy thinks the toilet bowl is his personal pond. YUK! Most days I have to show him where his food dish is. He sleeps all the time. I don't know how much longer he'll be around and DH has said no more pets after his time comes, but I've been checking out dog breeds - so far labs look like the best for me because of the 7 yr old granddaughter, but I kinda like the german shepherd also.

Bekah - I have no snow, raining here. We had a thunderstorm yesterday and lots of wind. Thank the Lord, the storms keep missing Kentucky. I hope The Phantom was great for you. I hope your back feels better soon. I love the pic in profile - beautiful.

Mr Dad, I don't know how you all can put up with the earthquakes. I guess you get used to it. We live on the New Madrid fault line and one of these days, it will rock our world. Did you have a nice week-end? You sounded so lonely at the porch, and did you ever find Grandpa.....was he already asleep ..........................................? Judge Seidlin - wow, now that's some acting, there. He should win. I feel so sorry for Anna Nicole's little girl. And when will her mommy be laid to rest, already. Vergie, isn't that her mother's name, needs to let it go!

Jodie - Bob Seger is one of my favorites. Never went to his concert, though. Night Moves is mine and DH song.

Granni, I hope you're doing fine, also your DH. When does he get that tooth extracted? I've had 2 molars extracted and 2 wisdom teeth out. Didn't bother me a bit. I went to Pizza Hut with my sister after I had one of the wisdom teeth pulled. We had a lunch date planned and I tried to chew with the other side. No biggie for me. I guess I can handle pain pretty good. When I broke my ankle, I told the doc, my leg hurt up by my knee. Sure nuff I broke the leg also. I have a metal plate and 7 screws in leg and a screw in the ankle. When they finally gave me a pain shot, cause I had to wait 2 hrs for orthopedic surgeon, they asked how much I weighed? I winked and said 450 lbs.

Carla, I have a pet bunny, those wood shavings would be mighty nice for bedding.

Nite all - those I didn't mention..........let's see.................Marta, Rock, Ali, Gretchen , I just mentioned you (hahahahha), and everybody else I wish you and all of us instant cures. Let me know how that works.

Whew! The past week was grueling. The shelter people have grown their own claws and Sophie is not letting me sleep past 4 again. I must do something soon but darned if I know what. I would feel horrible if I sent Sophie back to the shelter - maybe even worse than I feel with her here...

Joe, thanks for walking Jeeves. I thought I heard him come in last night when he fell over Marilyn's chair. (I know it was Marilyn's chair because it played music.)

I heard this morning that San Fran is having or has had a bit of a thing over wild parrots? Very colorful in trees but I'll bet, on your head or car, their poop (sorry; I'm used to being at the shelter) is the same color as any bird.

Bekah, Sounds like you were getting ready to party. Hope it was fun.

Marilyn, wow, good sales PLUS hubby calling for you to come to bed? How lucky can one woman get? I'm thinking of you. All I want to do is Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Jodie, what good news about your psych teacher giving you a referral. You didn't ask for advice but I think you can do a lot better than Leo. Like the others have said, I'm sure you'll do the right thing. See my icon today? That's for you. Gooooooooooooo, Jodie.

Carla, wood shavings make great compost or you could glue them all together and make a sculpture, as creative as you are. Call Carla NL; I'll bet she could build your deck for you.

Sees: poor kitty. Nineteen years old is OLD in kitty years. I found with my old cats that they were having trouble chewing so I soaked their dry food which helped a lot. Making a gruel out of the canned food might be good too. Good luck. It's so hard to see old pets decline.

I'm listening to the radio report on the Oscars and am trying without success to find it interesting. I agree with Joe about The Crazy Judge from Anna Nicole's trial. I hear he's after his own TV show and I sure hope they don't give it to him. What a waste of many people's time!

I see I'm in a ranting mood so I'll sign off.

Hugs all around wherever you are,

Just read the last bit of Volume 85.

Rock, none of DIL's family speak English except her sister but, by golly, you never seen a homeless Asian. Love them.

And I forgot to say that I put up another picture, this one is in the Kitten Room. The clouds which I like the best don't show up well in this very bright room. The grey box on the lower left is one of many different-colored wood boxes attached to the walls for the kittens to play and hide in. Too bad it's grey.....as if they care. The little things on the lower right are the mittens of the three little kittens.

now he's done and so am I. I had to take my baclofen and tramadol afterwards. My lower back was having spasms from H E double hockey sticks. He actually did well and I only got 7 scratches on my left arm. I washed with antibiotic soap afterwards.

I gave him a can of Fancy Feast afterwards (laced with hairball remedy and wormer). He's re-washing himself now and although a little traumatized, as I am also, he's at peace for now, getting ready for a cat nap.

It's sunny here and temp will get to 48 today. I really empathize with you guys with snow. Not too many days til lst day of Spring now.

Gotta go and get housework done. See ya 'round like a doughnut!

    Hello all :)

We had a lovely weekend. The Phantom of the Opera was fantastic! It was actually my second time seeing it. The first was when I was in the 7th grade. Our school went on a trip to the show and Paul Stanley from KISS was playing the role of the Phantom. :) He was incredible! So being a KISS fan, naturally I am a little biased to that performance compared to the one on Saturday, but it was still great. The costumes and sets are gorgeous. The actors all had amazing voices as well.

I hope you get to see it sometime Mr. Dad! It's well worth the money. We have seen Les Miz. too as well as Cats (I've seen that one 4 times actually) Chicago, Beauty & The Beast and the Lion King. Sweeny Todd is coming to Toronto next December so I'd like to check that one out when it comes.

Sunday we went to the Toronto zoo with my friend Kathy and her friend Joni. It was cold out, but not too bad. We had a lovely time and after the zoo we had dinner back in downtown Toronto with Joni, Kathy, her room mate Alison and her boyfriend.

I am pretty pooped from my long weekend out but had a great time!

Hope all is well with the rest of you :)

Just dropped in to say Hi.

Nice artwork, Marta. I wondered why the kittens were throwing headphones out of a balloon. But now that you explained they were mittens, it makes purr-fect sense.

No news here. All for now. Ha det bra.

Lin - Hi there, glad to see you again. I am not sure if Memaw is considered just a Texas term for Grandmother. I have heard it heer but it may also have been used in other places. It is just more of an informal term, I think rather than Grandmother or Grandfather. I know that some of the grandfathers here that came from TX do use the term PawPaw for grandfather. However, sometimes that is to differenciate between the two grandfathers if there are two of them actually living. In NY where I camd from it was usually grandmother and granfather (Grandnma or Grandpa). I hardly ever saw my grandparents but a few times in my life anyway, they lived so far away and we had little money to visit and they were pretty old by that time. My dad was the baby of the clan. My mom's parent's died was she was very VERY little in Czechoslovakia.

Sorry about your computer problems. That drives me crazy and we only have one and no kids to want to be on it but my DH sure does !!

No, we did not watch the Oscars either. We hardly ever go to the movies at all ((that is anoather story- many not worth seeing in my opinion) and to expensive. They get paid to much and so many premadonnas if you know what I mean. Sorry if I sounds like a old foogy, guess I am sort of old fashioned in many ways.

Oh, BTW about DH tooth extraction. There was none. I can't believe some of these people in the dentists office. I thought something was weird. It was more like a consultation before they can even think about the surgery, send the info to the insurance co to make sure they will get paid, etc. etc. even though we will pay for most of it anyway - at least the implant part. However, the gal in the office on the phone said it (the visit) would be for the extraction and the cast whatever you call it (drawing a blank now) so they can make up the tooth implant and possibly a temp one (not sure about the temp one if they do give you one or not). DH was pleased though that he really got to talk to the dr. and explained everything to him. We have to wait awhile and then call the ins company to bug them and find out what they will pay if anything and then they have to contact the dentist so we can make the appoitment or the extraction. Enough of that nonsense.

Hi also to Bekah, Mrdad, Rock, Marta and whoever else I missed. Will be out this evening and part of this afternoon too. Gotta run for now.

    Lots hugs to all,
    Granni (Marilyn)
