I went looking for The Peace Prayer said in homes, work places and churches around the world at 12 pm every day for Julies son. I found it and put it on her thread and prayed. Unlike some of you, I don't know where my prayers go but I do not think they are in vain. One of my favourite prayers is the prayer of St Francis. It strikes me as a very Buddhist prayer but that is just my prejudice and my limited experience of Christianity. I think this is a beautiful prayer. Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen.
