    Hello,

I'm fairly new to these boards, and post regularly on the Fibro/Chronic Fatigue board. I have FM and all the symptoms of CFS, and so does my husband.

Let's see if I can keep this simple: I have an uncle (my favorite) in his 60's who has FM/CFS, spinal stenosis, along with severe chronic pain from job-related injuries. He currently lives with my mom, who doesn't understand at all. She thinks he's "weak." He has had an impossible time dealing with pain, and has had to be hospitalized a few times for "over-treating" himself to pain meds. He says he's an addict. This morning he asked to be taken to the hospital so he could commit himself to the psych ward and get straightened out again. Apparently, he's either in severe withdrawals, or he has OD'd or mixed up a bunch of meds. Mom didn't have a clue what to do, so my husband has taken him to the hospital. From my husband's phone reports, things have gone quite smoothly so far.

I'm just asking for extra prayer support for my uncle and our family. This is going to be a "make it or break it" event for all of us.

Thanks, and God bless you all,

I know how hard it can be on anyone that suffers from FMS pain, I also have FMS.

I will be praying for your uncle and also for your family.......Blessings, Judy

Often, when people overuse their pain meds, it's not because they are abusers; it's because they are not on the right pain meds. Be sure to have a pain specialist see him to evaluate his situation. Good luck and God bless.

My uncle is now in the hospital's psychiatric section, on suicide watch. He said was trying to die today and wanted to be someplace comfortable to do it, like a hospital, instead of freaking out my mother by doing it at home. He is totally out of his head. This is a big wake-up call for the family. Should be interesting for the next several days.

    Thanks, all.

    Hello Suzbee,

Glad to have you hear at the Worship and welcome.
I'll be praying for You, your husband, uncle, and entire family. Prayer is such a powerful tool of the Lord, I know he will hear our prayers and bless you all.

for all your kind replies and prayers. My uncle is still the same as he was. I am going to see him myself tomorrow.

I will tell you what, though. My mom is getting a first-class education in mental health. ;-)

    Love,

    Hello Suzbee,

I'm still praying You and your family. This must be tough on all of you. I hope and pray that the Lord heals your uncle. And at the same time stands by yalls side, holding your hands. I pray that you continue to feel his presence. Feeling his presence is such a blessing in itself. God bless you all.

Thanks again for your kindness and prayers.

I went to see Uncle today with my own eyes. He does not look well at all, but from what I've heard over the past several days, he is improved today. He's still delusional about some things. At least he knows he's being paranoid. That's a start.

It concerns me that they're giving him so much medication. On top of what his regular doctor has given him. He must be taking 15+ prescriptions. That is absurd. I know they have to bring him up out of the hole, but I hope that doesn't last long.

He is also having a huge fibromyalgia flare, which nobody gives a $%#* about because they don't understand. (pardon my french) Of course, I don't have any say so, I'm just his niece.

But we are rejoicing that out of the two possible psychiatrists he could have been assigned to, he got the good one. One who shares scriptures and prays with him.

Your prayer support is much appreciated.
    Hugs,
    suzbee
