Great God, who has told us
    "Vengeance is mine,"
    save us from ourselves,
save us from the vengeance in our hearts
and the acid in our souls.

Save us from our desire to hurt as we have been hurt,
to punish as we have been punished,
to terrorize as we have been terrorized.

Give us the strength it takes
to listen rather than to judge,
to trust rather than to fear,
    to try again and again
to make peace even when peace eludes us.

We ask, O God, for the grace
    to be our best selves.
    We ask for the vision
to be builders of the human community
    rather than its destroyers.
We ask for the humility as a people
to understand the fears and hopes of other peoples.

We ask for the love it takes
to bequeath to the children of the world to come
more than the failures of our own making.
We ask for the heart it takes
to care for all the peoples
of Afghanistan and Iraq, of Palestine and Israel
    as well as for ourselves.

Give us the depth of soul, O God,
    to constrain our might,
to resist the temptations of power
to refuse to attack the attackable,
    to understand
    that vengeance begets violence,
and to bring peace--not war--wherever we go.

For You, O God, have been merciful to us.
For You, O God, have been patient with us.
For You, O God, have been gracious to us.

And so may we be merciful
    and patient
    and gracious
    and trusting
with these others whom you also love.

    This we ask through Jesus,
the one without vengeance in his heart.
This we ask forever and ever. Amen

Today, more than ever before, life must be characterized by a sense of Universal responsibility, not only nation to nation and human to human, but also human to other forms of life.

For your post. Of course, I pray for all kinds of things but I do believe that peace would go a long way toward our solving a lot of the world's problems. The resources that are spent on making war could be used to feed the hungry, heal the sick, house the homeless, and so on. An end to greed would be a good place to start if we want peace.

Let the rain come and wash away
the ancient grudges, the bitter hatreds
    held and nurtured over generations.
Let the rain wash away the memory
    of the hurt, the neglect.
Then let the sun come out and
    fill the sky with rainbows.
Let the warmth of the sun heal us
    wherever we are broken.
Let it burn away the fog so that
we can see each other clearly.
So that we can see beyond labels,
beyond accents, gender or skin color.
    Let the warmth and brightness
of the sun melt our selfishness.
So that we can share the joys and
feel the sorrows of our neighbors.
And let the light of the sun
be so strong that we will see all
    people as our neighbors.
Let the earth, nourished by rain,
    bring forth flowers
    to surround us with beauty.
And let the mountains teach our hearts
    to reach upward to heaven.

    Amen.

How sickening to have that much hatred, jealousy and spite spewed onto you and your daughter. And horrible to hurt you with their enormous blame, so twisted and unjust.

I'm sending prayers now for your inner healing! Until you are washed clean of these attacks. I know just what you mean about these present day hurts bringing up the old ones. Just a few days ago, I felt so sickened because a Dr. that I was trusting, communicated that he didn't believe that the CFS which has so changed and damaged my life is a real disease.

I tried to just deal with it with reason, but by the next morning I was so undermined. It was the same sickening experience of having my deepest realities invalidated. I felt erased, and was losing my life-energy and confidence.

I told my husband how I was feeling, and we ended up talking for hours. I saw as we talked, and he heard, how badly it was affecting me. How descructive it had been. It took a long time to get rid of the poisons - we talked until 3:30 am!

But by that time I felt recovered - and was so deeply thankful. Spring, I'm so proud of you for speaking up, speaking the truth to your relatives - right into the twisted, toxic situation. Well done!

I'm returning again to Brother Thay's teachings on healing the inner child. His first sentence is, "In each of us there is a young suffering child." And he goes on to say, "The wounded child asks for care and love, but we do the opposite." He goes on to say that the wounded child is in each cell of our body!

I feel that to be true.

And I also believe that the kind of inner healing work that he teaches would work so well with your pranic healing!

Going to post this - will be back.

Part of the reason I got this book was to see if it could be helpful for you too. Because I've learned from my experience over decades that this is the way in, to see and bring medicines to those wounds.

Well, I am holding you in prayer until you are well again!

And I'm so sorry also that your mulberry tree was cut down - the private, sweeping to the ground branches - your sanctuary.

But glad that you have a whole prayer room to do your breathing, meditation, rest, have privacy, center yourself again. That's a rare and valuable thing - something we usually don't have here.

Daily I trust more and more in an Eternal, perfectly loving Parent, source of perfect and attentive love. And that makes me increasingly aware of the help I receive daily in my struggles.

God Bless you, Springwater dear, you will return to your inner balance and centeredness!

    Love, Judy

Judy - I had written a long post before the above but lost it before i could post
so wrote another shorter one. i do want to say i understand how you
struggle with past demons because your issues are so much more painful
than mine. i can only imagine your pain when something brings it up again.
however, you have transmuted that pain so beautifully into empathy and
loving energy for others. bless you.

its astonishing how in this day and age CFS and the havoc it wreaks on
ones life, lifestyle, emotional, mental and physical well being is so ignored
and not even acknowledged! same with depression.

however, for how long can the world ignore this. the pressures of this
world is causing more and more people to get sick and i am sure the
doctors will see the light soon.

in the meantime, we have our loved ones, each other on this board,
our faith, and the ability to appreciate the beautiful little things of
life to help us carry on

    God Bless

makes a lot of sense, that - praying for peace and praying for world leaders to embrace
peace because they are the ones guiding everybody else.

    thanks for this thought.

Yes, the New Testament does encourage us to pray for world leaders, and other leaders.

I'm interested also to know what spiritual tradition the speaker was from.

    Hope you're doing well.

Hi Granni, I find encouragement also from these very eloquent writers of prayers, and can see they come from deep wells of compassion.

Jam - I've had back pain at times and know that it affects so much of our movements. I'm so sorry that you're going through all this.

Spring - please keep being kind to yourself, as you struggle with everything. We need to be compassionate to ourselves. This is something I struggle with a lot - not echoing the harsh voices from the past.

I find encouragement also from each one of you!

    Love, Judy

    Father, Mother, God,
    Thank you for your presence
during the hard and mean days.
For then we have you to lean upon.
    Thank you for your presence
during the bright and sunny days,
for then we can share that which we have
    with those who have less.
And thank you for your presence
during the Holy Days, for then we are able
to celebrate you and our families
    and our friends.
For those who have no voice,
    we ask you to speak.
    For those who feel unworthy,
we ask you to pour your love out
    in waterfalls of tenderness.
For those who live in pain,
we ask you to bathe them
in the river of your healing.
For those who are lonely, we ask
    you to keep them company.
    For those who are depressed,
we ask you to shower upon them
    the light of hope.
    Dear Creator, You, the borderless
sea of substance, we ask you to give to all the
world that which we need most—Peace.

The power of forgiveness and it is awesome. It's like God's healing grace and can work miracles in our own lives.

Two of my neighbors had a fight and stopped talking to one another for five years. For five years, I prayed they would make up. One's husband died and, as sad as it was, that was the catalyst for forgiveness and letting the past go. They realized that life is too short to live it in stress and anger. Some prayers take a long time to get answered but faith is a very strong thing.

I love that story about your neighbors - that you were so persistent and faithful in your prayers until they were ready to forgive. Helping them be ready to forgive. Yes, I believe too that it is God's healing grace, and we somehow become channels of it.

And so good to think of the friendship restored, especially after the loneliness of losing a spouse.

something i need to learn; i do try but letting go completely is a skill i have yet to
develop, however, theres all my life to acquire mastery over. it must feel so light
and good when you dont feel angry at anyone.

love all the people here; and the wisdom garnered from these posts

    God Bless you all
