I was wondereing if someone out there knows how long a paper script is good for? I have a script for fentanyl patches at the pharmacy to be filled on the 19th. When I saw my pain doc yesterday she gave me a new paper script because we are increasing the change time to every 48 hours. As we all know we cherish are pain meds so if I fill the new script with the new dosage will the other script expire? If so when?

    thanks for any help.

Call your pharmacy and check. There may be a difference with narcotic scripts.

Usually expire in six months rather than a year. It just depends on the drug.
