I was wondering do any of you have to file income taxes?

I am on SS & SSI benefits and I've had no other income. Here in WI I'm wondering if I can file taxes because of how much my income was would honor me a substantial return in tax credits if your income is lower than $20,000.

I've called Social Security and they are absolutely clueless. I suppose I could contact the IRS but that is just as bad as contacting social security.

For free, use the site below and locate the AARP income tax preparer near you. Call and make an appointment and for free they will look at your taxes and determine if you have anything coming to you. Some states that have state tax the residents may get a $25 a year credit and they can even help you file for that if you have that in your state. I'm on SSDI and I don't reach the level to have to pay taxes, but I do have AARP file the forms to get me the state credit and get a small amount of money from the state each year. Good luck and many hugs.
