    Hi everyone!
Thanks for looking at my post. My question: I have an autoimmune disorder-Hashimotos. I am wondering if i should be taking Proboost if my immune system is already on overdrive?! It seems to me that I shouldnt. Another thought? Can proboost regulate my immune system-calm it down?

    Thanks for your help.

I don't know anything about it I was just curious.I would like to know how it feels to be "normal". It is my belief that I never have.I'm in NE OH. If we get everyone to lean to the right at the same time, mabye we can get NY wet.

I'm not able to help you because I don't know. I never heard of your disorder and I don't know anything about Proboost.

My suggestion to you would be not to take anything that you are not completely sure of. Many things out in the market can do much more harm then help.

I know that docs who treat autoimmune diseases are often reluctant for their patients to take anything which revs up the immune system.

for taking time to respond to my post. I will continue to look for the answer and post it for others with CFS and autoimmune disorders.

I don't have Hashimoto's....but I do have Crohn's, another one of those lovely autoimmune diseases. I was told (by my GI specialist, family practitioner, and others) NEVER to take anything that claims to enhance the immune sytem (like that product Airborne that is so hot today, or herbs like echinacea).

My immune system is suppressed with an immunomodulating drug and I've done very well on it so I am not one to rock the boat where that is concerned.

    Hope this helps you.

    Hi Jolie.

I just like you have been doing A LOT of research inot Proboost and other Immune Modulators like (Mitake Mushrooms) to balance our Immune System. By the way, I also have Hashimotos.

I have to tell you that the research out there is really confusing. The FFC centers and a lot of holistic doctors and research papers regarding Proboost say that it's OK to take it, because it balances the Th1/Th2 side of your T Cells. Usually when you have Autoimmune the Th2 side is hyperactive, thus you have high Antibody production. So taking an Immune Modulator is suppose to fix that imbalance.

The tricky part is that some Autoimmune Diseases like MS and Hashimotos are actually Th1 elevated diseases so in theory it would not be good to take a Th1 booster (which Proboost and Mushrooms are). But on the other hand our Immune Systems are messed up and they can not fight the Infections in our bodies the way they are suppose to. So in that case I think in order to get rid of the infections, we need to take these boosters, because as long as we have the damn infections, we will likely have the Autoimmune diseases!

So you can see that's it a fine balance, between taking these Immune Modulators and how much.

Specifically on Proboost, the research shows that Proboost strengthens the Virus fighting mechanism of our body. It also helps the RNase L which is a virus fighter and is messed up in a lot of CFS patients. Also it comes the hyperactivity of the system. So it would be good to take it specially if you have a Viral Infection. I have chronic EBV and have been on Anti-Virals for 2 1/2 months but I still have tender Lymph nodes and feel like I haven't gotten rid of the damn thing! So I'm trying Proboost for a few weeks.

Honestly this area is so confusing and there is still so much research that is being conducted. I would say do your research and stay on top of any new developments. Maybe in a year or two the scientist will figure something out and we will know for sure what to do with our Immune Systems.

    Good luck

In answer to your question, my diagnosis is FM......however, I strongly do suspect I have the CFS component as well. It just isn't official.

In my case, my immune system was overactive. My sed rate was over 100 (normal is 19) the day I was admitted to the hospital. I ran a fever for months and had chronic diarrhea. I spent the better part of a year on steroids to bring down the inflammation.....but again, this was Crohn's related, not FM.

I just don't want to ruin all my hard work by trying something I'm not sure about after I've done fairly well for so long.

The drug I am on is 6-MP (mercaptopurine) and it suppresses the immune system. I have had no problems with it. It does however require regular blood testing.

It was very kind of you to help me with my questions. Thanks a million!! Im printing out your responses as I continue on my quest. For now I have stopped taking the ProBoost. I need to get my medical file in order and make another appointment at the FFC clinic.

    Love and Light,
