ok as I posted new here, have more I said before I was checking if I have lots of my sx seem that way...but tests are clear and a MS specialist now says not MS and not neurological..thinks FM....ok

so do any of you with FM....(without having MS)...get where your hands drop stuff...not like cause of pain or stuff...but you try to do something and your hand goes a different way...seems as the mind says go that way and your hand flips a different way and what is in your hand flies across the room???? all day having these issues and over the years have had them...I just dont see it being FM related....but want to see if others have this sx..????

    Please help >> thanks,sarah

I do not have that symptom and I guess I have never heard of this in FM. It does sound like another neurological condition to me...but I'm not a doctor and maybe others have this contition. I don't know.

But, I don't. It sounds like it would be awful to have this occuring all the time! AAGH! I do hope others respond, and I do hope you get some clear answers.

By the way, welcome to the board. Glad you found us...glad we found you!

glad to find you guys as well....I do think I have FM..although i was telling someone I know that this MS spec. said not neuro and that it is FM...without even doing the touch the spots on body thing that I know they did with my mom when checking for FM....who gets confusing...

My sx....are numbness tingling in face, anytime stressed, hot or in humidity...then other things are the dropping things..uncoordination issues, blurred vision in one eye off and on in days..when same conditions...for 2 balance issues, vertigo...speech issue one time...

the MS specialist said all my MRIs are clear, and that he said my symptoms being so often arent the pattern of MS>..and I want to so believe in him as he is a specialist....but who knows...

going to call pcp to get apt..ask her if I should see the rhematologist..sp> and just keep trying my best to help the sx....and try to relax....take care, sarah

hoping to hear from others if you have this symptom of dropping stuff...or hands or mouth not doing as brain wants...kind of stuff

I do have the tendency to drop things without warning. I have told my doc. He didn't say much but I am thinking that part of the reason is the narcs I take for pain.

I remember this starting right after I started wearing the duragesic patch.

It can be annoying but not enough to make me stop the narcs cause the pain is worse than this symptom. LOL

I asked my doc if it could be MS. He said he didn't think it was but if I started having other neuro problems it may have to be checked out.

    Hope this helps.

I never seem to get a streight answer out of doctors to know what that could be.

I call it my "hands not working for me" days. It worries me a lot really.

Let me know if you find out anything on that.

The medical term is ataxia, and it was one of the things that got my old docs attn. before I had a diagnose. I know it's not about painkillers, because it happens when off them too. Drives me batty sometimes because I'm trying to do something, like get supplements or pills for pain (or when not in pain at all) and I'm dropping everything repeatedly, pills are rolling under tables, go to pick it up, miss, arrggh.

I don't get numbness too often, mostly always pain. though I did get lots of numbness when I was on a really sup[er bad matrress for awhile, the kind w/ the big sinky hole in the middle, which my fiance, who is twice my weight, unwittingly kept helping me slide into. I do get parts falling asleep often though, like pins and needles and have to shift alot, or get up and move around to avoid it and get circulation back. I also get intermittant blurred vision.

I've seen quite a few on this board w/ those symtoms too. Often they have Lyme, but not exclusively, I have FM and MCS.

I don't know if it is the same thing. I know that poor balance, at least, can definitely be part of FM, but I don't know if that is directly related to clumsiness. I do drop things a lot more these days, and have a hard time catching them as they are falling. I don't know if that is because my hands are weaker or what, but it seems like sometimes I just can't wrap my hand around things. I can't say my mind thinks about my hand going one way and it actually goes another, though. That sounds familiar, but I don't know if it is from FM or a neurological condition. I hope you get some good answers. If you feel uncomfortable about it and suspect there is still something neurological going on, do pursue it.
