How did your interstitial cystitis get better please? Was it medication, treatment, or did it just improve by itself? Thanks!

Well, it was a long 2 years. I went from horific pain to almost nothing now unless I eat something bad or have a supplement that's too acidic. After 6 months of symptoms I had a hydrodistention to diagnosis everything. Then I started reading "The Interstitial Puzzle" There's also an e-mail group withe the same name on yahoo. With People who were getting better!!!!
My sister's sister-in-law went on her own program, like mine, and she's fine now too, her's is in remission. She just had her second kid. So there's hope!!!

The things that helped for me, get rid of all acidic foods, everything!! Ate more veggies than sugar and carbs. Watched out for seasonings that bothered me, preservatives that bothered me. At the beginning I could barely take any supplements. Check your water, most is acidic, you're drinking that and burning your bladder! I really noticed feeling better when I changed waters. I started taking baking soda capsules to help.

The second thing that really helped was going to a specialist who spent time with people with IC. He sent me to relaxation programs, and exercise programs. Simple ten minute a day exercises (this is before CFS). I was told the nerves become inflamed with IC, causing muscles to tighten up, causing pain.

A lot of the other suggestions follow CFS or Fibro,
    - anti-yeast diet
    - hormone balencing
    - identifying allergies
    - stress relief
    - treating adrenal exhaustion

I didn't start feeling better at once, the phys therapy aggravated it, but after eating plainer, better foods for months, I slowly realized that I was getting better, then I realized I had my first day without pain, then week without pain. Then I realized I was back to going to the bathroom like a normal person!!!

I was taking prelief with more acidic foods in the begginging, but then was told if you take too much without the right balence of magnesium, it causes constipation, which made everything worse.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Thankyou lisaloo, that's brilliant! Glad you've nearly recovered from it, it's horrible.
