Hi guys . . . I was wondering if anyone knows a good lab for stool sample testing for systemic candida and parasite testing? Also possibly a good lab for heavy metal testing. I was wondering about Great Smokies Diagnostics Lab . . . they have some "gut flora" testing available and I think they also have some metal testing. Any advice would be great! Terri

    Hi Terri,
Great Smokies specialise in stool testing, and are thought to be very reliable. (I've had two tests with them).
For parasites they have two tests, one is 'general parasitology', which will also give you results on candida and bacterial infections.
The other is a 'purged parasite test' (which I think also does candida and bacteria), which is more reliable when it comes to parasites, which are notoriously difficult to detect. (But they did detect some in my test also with the general test.)
One good thing with Great Smokies is that they also test the bacteria, candida and parasites for resistance to common treatment, both RX (different types of antibiotics, antifungus) and herbs, so you do know what meds to take to get rid of the stuff (if you're not oversensitive to it, that is, as I tend to be ...)
    Hope this helps.

Terri, I have had GSDL do the tests you mentioned, plus several others. They do a very thorough job, and give you a detailed report with colored graphs to help you understand the results (if you're a visual person like me you'll appreciate that). They also actually explain what your results mean. I highly recommend them.
