On the sheet accompanying my Nystatin prescription, I noticed that one of the precautions is: "Practice good dental hygiene." In bold.

It doesn't say why. Does anyone know why dental hygiene is particularly important when taking Nystatin?

My only guess is that good dental hygiene is important, in general, when fighting yeast--but why would this be specifically mentioned on the Nystatin prescription? Any ideas? Thanks, in advance.

but I have read a couple of articles recently that recommended flossing daily because the bacteria can get into the system and is harmful.

several days before you finish your treatment or you'll just get the yeast again. I think that is what they mean. That is what I do... Hope you feel better soon.

I'm assuming you are on Nystatin for thrush?[This Message was Edited on 10/12/2005]
