Why do humans have such "chubby" calves?

When chickens cross the road, they use super skinny legs.

Most animals have thin legs. I mean, aesthetically, human bodies on chicken type legs would not seem personally appealing.

I don't really know answer. Just have been wondering about in the past week. Along with the chicken crossing the road "problem". Sigh:)

    Cheers, your mr Bill

Don't you think your question assumes a fact not in evidence?

Am just wondering; do you have any other hobbies?

Personally I have very shapely calves. I attribute this to my teenage years when I spent much time dancing and roller skating to such great songs as:

    What's Behind the Green Door;
Love Letters in the Sand; Pat Boone

    Young Love; Tab Hunter
    Tammy; Debbie Reynolds

    Rockin' Robin; Bobby Day
    Round and Round; Perry Como

They don't write songs like etc.

I have many hobbies. Just that sometimes a "problem" bothers me.
Yes, I did like those songs. And I'm sure your calves are perfect....for a human:)

    Cheers, mr Bill lol

Probably dancing just wouldn't be the same if we had legs shaped like an ostrich. We could sure do a good chicken dance though.[This Message was Edited on 08/09/2008]

It's possible that I'm just too tired to see if you're just being humorous....

But couldn't it be because we bend/squat and animals don't?

    Hugs,

I was trying both being humorous and serious. Think that I've gotten over the "problem", though did spend part of weekend imagining the Presidential candidates, Marilyn Monroe, and Eleanor Roosevelt with ostrich legs.

Chicken anatomy interesting. I guess that whenever no ground predators (islands) birds tend to lose ability to fly. I think that flying birds even have less "junk or nonsense" DNA than walking animals.
