    Hi Everyone,
My pain management doctor started me on Tizanidine 4 mg twice a day. Question is does anyone know the side effects to this and is this drug a narcotic? Does not seem to have any effect on me at all and no effect for the pain. Thanks for all the responses.

is Zanaflex. It is a medication used for muscle spasms. It is not a narcotic.

Tizanidine is a short-acting muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses (pain sensations) that are sent to your brain.

Tizanidine is used to treat spasticity by temporarily relaxing muscle tone.

It's not for pain, but sometimes doctors prescribe it so your muscles will relax enough to help you sleep. Might that be your case?

Wish you "success in your fight"...

I am an experienced man with various pharmaceutical medications and street medicine because of chronic pain due to failed back surgerys and nerve damage. Tizanidine knocks me for a loop at 2mg. I assume its the mixture of meds. Always consider what other meds your on because its never one or another but a coctail that gives certain effects. Tizanidine should always be used at night. It makes you uncontrollably tired at random times. Im Trying chips of the pill now to see if it helps, like less than 1mg. If i followed doctors orders i would be dead by now. Always start with half the dose they suggest untill you know its safe. Almost every time ive followed thier instructions its been bad in some way.
