    Hi

Does anyone have tips on purchasing a far infrared sauna. I've started to do some preliminary research and it seems like its best to get ones with ceramic heaters and the larger surface area the better.

A confusing point for me is whether to get ones made from woods other than cedar that are put together without using clue or cedar. The idea is that they are more hypoallergenic than ones with glues, varnishes, etc. And that people with chemical sensitivities are less likely to react to woods chosen than cedar with has a strong aroma.

One arguement I've seen for cedar is that it naturally inhibits bacterial growth and that the ones made from other woods will not last as long as cedar and that the hypoallergenic claim is counter intuitive in that to keep the saunas that aren't cedar clean strong cleaning products would need to be used to keep them clean and minimize bacteria and that most people would react more to the harsh chemical cleaners than the cedar.

Perhaps there's more to consider, but I'm pretty confused on the type of wood to select.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

There have been a few posts on this... Click on my profile and read my post from 9/29/05 titled "i bought one"

there was also another discussion (in my profile) on 3/5/06 where we talked about portable vs full-size.

Please let me know if you have trouble finding these posts. I think they are very informative.

    take care,
