    OK, Kids

Here are three handsome animals. See if you can identify any. First prize is a Tootsie
Pop; your choice of flavors. In the Tootsie Pops are all gone, we will award a pack
    of Bazooka Bubble gum.

    HI Rock --

Is number 3 a rattlesnake? I don't think that's it, but it's my best guess! Can I get fourth prize??

    Hi, Diane.

It's not a rattle snake, but that's a pretty good guess. I ever tell ya about the time a
farm kid brought a rattlesnake to school? It was a baby in a large mason jar.
There was no fuss whatsoever. That was circa 1950.

Today the school would be evacuated, a haz mat squad, the cops and Homeland
security would show up, and the kid would be arrested.

I think you deserve a prize. Take your pick. You can be Miss Animal Congeniality
or receive a comic strip from the Bazooka Bubble Gum pack.

    Hi Rock,

Ok, I'll take the comic strip.

    That "hits home" with me,

since I grew up near the Topps/Bazooka manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania!

    How's that for a coincidence. :p

Ha Ha! Where did you find an bubble blowing icon?

There was an article in the news some years back. Said Bazooka gum as we knew
it is no more. Everything has been changed including the taste, and the comics
    are gone too.

News to me that Tops and Bazooka came from the same source. My boss never
got over the loss of his childhood baseball cards. He bought the new cards by
the boxfull, but the magic was gone.

Well, I feel like the America I knew growing up is gone, and the country and
its people are the worse for it. I hope to be gone before we collapse like
ancient Rome. (And for many of the same causes.)

The top one is a red panda
Second one looks like a kind of vulture
Third one I'll do a wild guess which is probably wrong: adder.

    Hi Soul

Yup. It's a red panda. I couldn't find a picture of the entire animal that I could copy.
And the bird is a vulture. It's a bone vulture; has some other names too. Saw it on
a nature program a couple months ago. They can swallow amazingly large bones.
I guess most of the nutrients come from the marrow.

Come back soon. Like 2 marrow.

I read adder is a general term for a venomous snake. The one above is a
copperhead. One of the 4 such snakes found in America. It's venom is
described as "mildly poisonous" to people. Lives in the SE part of the USA.

So you too deserve a prize. (Tried to put a smiley face here. No workee.)
