    I know. It's the wombat!

Or maybe it's the California State Flower. Our neighbor half a block a way has
them growing in his front yard. Late in the afternoon they curl up and go to sleep.

These are blooming now on the way to town, along the roadsides. I think it IS our state flower. I'm not telling though. The blue flowers are lupines, of course.....

Are you sure about those blue flowers, Barry? I thought lupines were wolves.
HaHa! That outta make you howl with laughter.

Most of those spiky blue flowers look alike. My mother had several in her
garden. I never could tell which was which: larkspur, salvia, delphiniums, etc.

Diane, that picture does a good job of capturing the poppies' vivid gold color.
Soul, do you have poppies in Holland?

Yes, indeed, Spring is on its way. The vernal equinox will be here in no time.
I used to know a kid named Vernon. He always insisted the event was named
after him. Some of the kids used to tell him, "Yes, Vern. It does have
something to do with the sun, but that doesn't mean you're very bright."

Ah, the days of youth, "When the day stretched out before me like a long,
    long Texas Road."

Yes Rock we do, mostly the red ones pop up everywhere. I've sown some last year but they wheren't very succesful. I also bought a bigger type but that didn't bloom yet either so hopefully it survived winter and will appear again this year.
