I am so tired all the time and sleep every chance I get. Making plans has become a joke. Nobody (including myself) can trust me not to cancel out last minute. Are there any medications or suppliments that can improve this sleepiness? Most vitamins/suppliments/meds knock me out 30 minutes after I take them and keep me groggy up to 12 hours later. I feel better when I don't take anything. B-12 injections, however, do help considerably but lose effectiveness after regular use. Does anybody have any suggestions? Oh and I don't have narcalepsy. Already did and paid for that test. There are so many things I want to do, but I can't because I'm always sleeping! Also, I need a good cfs specialist. The doctor I have only helps when I can bully him into trying something I've read about because he won't read up about it. I live in Southern Oregon (Brookings) and I don't think there are any in this area. Any recommendations for the West Coast preferably? Oh heck, any recommendations for anywhere else?

I know he's in the NW somewhere.

CFIDS for me is far worse than the FMS because of the fatigue and cognitived problems associated with it. The best thing I have done is to take Klonopin which helps me to get quality sleep. I've never had trouble sleeping but I never got quality sleep until I started taking the Klonopin. A very small dose under the tongue during the daytime helps with the cognitive too.

Welcome to our board. I'm glad you found us.

Hi Michella, welcome to the board. Can't help with the sleeping too much, I had the opposite problem, I could not sleep at all.

We have many members here with CFS, and they will be glad to share their experiences/doctors with you.

Glad you found our board, and hope to hear from you often.

    Shalom, Shirl

As far as finding a doc, use the doctor referral link. Or contact your local CFS support group. Or post another message asking for docs in southern OR or northern CA. If you want to go all the way to Portland, I saw Dr. Kim Webster (Rejuvenation Medical Clinic). I got his name from the PDX support group and really liked him. (Madwolf is in Washington state.)

You say you don't have narcolepsy, but have you tried Provigil anyway? or just plain caffeine (or caffeine pills). I use Vivarin and Ritalin when needed, but only once or twice a month since neither work for an extended period. (And it's possible that stimulants like Ritalin can cause brain damage, especially in us, when used for extended periods.)
