Has anyone here been prescribed Remicade infusions for fibro? I have RA and fibro and have been reading/hearing that Remicade has been giving good results for many in this situation. Have you had any experience with this?

I was on remicade for about a year until recently. To be honest, I didn't see that big of an improvement and I decided to start going to a regular M.D. because my rheumy was always sending me to a specialist. I don't have the money or patience to visit that many docs, LOL.

I believe my rheumy is very knowledgeable. However, I did not like the meds she prescribed. I have been on and off methotrexate(which is a chemo drug) used for RA. I was supposed to be on it continuously but took myself off sometimes cause she kept increasing my dose.

When I first got diagnosed, I had enbrel which is a once a week shot. It seemed to actually give me some relief but she said my WBC count was always up. But with the remicade it is still elevated which shows inflammation mostly for me. However she hasn't even brought up another change.

Anyway after being on remicade for about 10 months, I had a reaction that is a known side effect. It was itching that was all over my body. I was given IV medication until it finally stopped. I was given a prescription of allegra to start 3 days before my next appointment and it seemed to work cause the next 2 visits I had for remicade went without problems.

I am sorry I wrote so much but anyway that is why I stopped going to my rheumy, at least for a little while. I hope if you decide to take the treatment that it works for you.

Everyone is different and I have heard the remicade helps a lot of people. I didn't know it was used for fibro also however.
