    Hello Rich,

Do you know if the protocol can modify HLA-DR4 expression? I understand that being HLA-DR4 positive makes dealing with RA and some other conditions difficult.

    Any ideas?

    Hi, highcotton.

I don't know for sure whether the methylation protocol would help this situation or not. I would tend to doubt it. The cells need to express the HLA molecules, and they can only express those that are coded for in the genes. If a person has inherited the HLA-DR4 gene, I don't think the cells have a choice but to express it as one of the two HLA genotypes.

I understand that in some cases a particular bacteria can initiate the autoimmune response, so that perhaps knocking out that bacteria could help. I don't remember which one is associated with RA.

    Best regards,
