I am moving to Jackson Tennessee in about 45 days. I am seeking fm/cfs networking support people in the area. Jackson is 45 min from Memphis and about 1 1/2 hours from Nashville.

Presently, I'm in South Florida and I am moving because I am single and need more family support, not to mention lower cost of living. Would love to make contact with anyone traveling the same fm/cfs path in that area.

I plan to get involved in fm/cfs advocacy work and research creating a christian based foundation that can provide support services to fm folks (similar to the Gilda Radner House), God willing.

    God Bless,

Hi Fibrokimm, thought I would let you know that you are moving to one of the most beautiful states in this great country ) Hope you love it here as much as I do. Although I won't be very close to you, I wanted to welcome you to Tennessee. I live in East Tennessee, if you know much about the state, you know that it is pretty much divided into three sections, West (your area), Middle, and East Tennessee. You get the grand ole Mississippi River area, I've got the mountains. I'm halfway between Knoxville and Chattanooga, in Athens. If you'll ever be in the eastern part of the state, post and let me know, I'd love to talk to you.

Hello Tennessee Sista, Well you are the first response and I'm glad to meet someone who lives there. Just to let you know, I love Tennessee and I was born in Jackson. I haven't traveled to your part of the state but in time I'm sure I will. I think I responded to a post of yours a day or so ago, can't remember. Anyway, if you are ever in Jackson would love to hook up, but for now thank God for the internet. I will be shutting my computer down the end of sept/2002, and will be staying with friends for a month before I take off....won't probably have computer hooked up until 2nd of 3rd week of Nov,....but when I'm back and running I'll let you know.

    God Bless

Hope your move goes smooth and easy. Moving is hard work. We bought a house directly across the street from where we lived, simply carried everything across in boxes. It was still a big job. Hope you've got lots of people to do that work for you. Glad you're coming "home", it's a great place to be.)

I don't post often but always keep up with the board. My name is Debby. I have a difficult time putting together thoughts for a post. I live in Corinth, Mississippi which is only 4 miles from the Tennessee state line. I'm about a 50 to 60 minute drive from Jackson. I lived in Memphis for 13 years and loved it. The place that I worked at had a Jackson office so I'm also familiar with Jackson.

    I'll send you an E-mail.

    Greenly,

Thanks for the response. I do remember Corinth and passing through it a week ago when I had my belongings moved. How is the support and networking there ? I you happy with the healthcare system there?

Well, tonight has been a rough couple of weeks...still trying to recover. Look forward to hearing from you. Someday maybe we will meet...but for now thank god for the internet.

To all my future Tennessee FM/CFS neighbors, thank you for responding and I look forward to a future get together...I can't wait to get home to my roots.

As for as the fm docs in Tennessee, I did get a list of several in my area for Jackson, however God only knows what I did with the list, but for those who still are seeking, I found my best results calling the fm support group leaders...who would know better than they.

I ended up getting the majority of my dr list from the Jackson General Hospital FM support group leader, Janice. It does appear that I may have to go a bit out of my way for the best (Memphis), and have a lot of trust and faith in God.

I am very anxious to get out of South Florida...I'm just waiting to get my MRI tests on Fri and a couple more weeks of physical therapy and then I am gone. I was going to move in with a friend for the month of October to save some money..but my landlord offered that month to me free since I have been here for 5 years..how can I past that up. I'm just can't wait to have some sense of normalcy in my life again, and for now the family support is what I need most. I just thank God that I have a place to go. So it looks like my computer will be up for a bit longer.

    God Bless,
    Fibrokimm

Hi! I'm new but I have been reading the boards for quite a long time. I live in Bolivar, Tennessee which is about 45 minutes from Jackson. Just wanted to tell you that Jackson Madison County General has a FM support group the first Tuesday of the month at 6:eek:oPM. I haven't been to one but am going to try to make it to one to check it out. I know one doctor I would absolutely advise against. His name is Odav a rhuemy. Bad news. Hope you have a safe move and it does not give you any problems. I love Tennessee. I know I need to do a profile but it will have to wait until tomorrow. Sorry but my legs have to go to bed. Thanks LindaH

I have been in a lot of pain lately and really tired all the time. I never knew there were others on the board that were so close by. We have a support group here that has just started up. They meet twice a month and are a nice group of people. If you are interested just let me know. I used to live in Bolivar and I think that one would be closer for you. Most of the peole that I worked with there commuted from Jackson.

I know of a very caring doctor in Collerville which is a subburb of Memphis. I used to work with him and he is an excellent doctor. He has several patients with fibro. He really keeps up with new treatments. Because of the fact that he takes plenty of time with his patients you have to wait a while when he sees you. I've be told by the schedular that no one ever complains because he's so good.
His name is Dr. William T. Herring he is an internist I think. He works in a large group so you have to be sure that your sure that they are making the appointment for Dr. Herring in the Collierville office.

I'll try to check in every few days in case anyone wants more information. If anyone knows of a good pain specialist anywhere from Nashville west I really need one right now.

do you mind telling me your docs name in Chatt? I go there to a doctor too but am looking for what I hope to be a better one. I know Spring City well, we aren't far from you, as a matter of fact we are 60 miles from both Knox and Chatt too. We like to drive over to your area and take our kids to the park there on the lake, it's one of our favorite Sunday drives. Nice to meet you, I'm from Athens (don't know if I said that in my earlier post or not) Fibrofog LOL.

sorry didnot post sooner, computer crash! still working on it. the name of my rheumy. in chattanooga is ------Dr.Richard Brackett,he is in the Arthritis Associates Building,w/Memorial hospital. His address is -605 Glenwood Ave.,Suite 100, Chattanooga,Tn. 37404-1103, office phone #(423)495-2784.
personally i really like him, he seems to really care about his patients. to me he looks maybe in his mid to late 30's,great bedside manner (so to speak) & very easy on the eyes( lol)he really made me feel very comfortable, considerate of my modesty. he tape records while patient is still in room what he is going to put in your files, so patient knows exactly what is in files, explains everything he is doing,(lab work, x-rays,etc.) 7 his reasons for the tests. i & my husband was very impressed with him.
Hope this has been of help.
p.s. I live on the road(New Lake Rd.) that takes you to our local park.maybe say hi someday! ALOMASP

Once I get settled we Tennessee FM folks will have to coordinate a weekend get together so that we may strengthen our local connectedness and networking.

In May 2003, Fibro Awareness Day 5/12, I will be coordinating and exhibiting a collection of paintings and mixmedia on the various aspects of the challenges of enduring FM/CFS. Will keep you posted on the location and so forth.

I can't believe I will be in Tennessee in less than 2 weeks. You can't imagine all that I am feeling as I move closer to relocating. I can only take it one day at a time...and I am a bit scared and stressed about starting all over again and leaving my present familiar surroundings and conveniences. Thank God for his love and faithfulness.

    God Bless

I gave Garlinbarb the name of a doc in the Nashville area that was used by a friend of a friend. I'm sure she'd be glad to share the name with you. She liked him, I know that.
