    anyway thats what i think.
tho it is good to actually see
that it is recognized as real,
cause i have gone sooo many cruddy years
without anyone believing me about it existance.,
as many here also have .
    but man!!
the way its portrayed, it sounds like it
could be just a 'bad' day...
    oh hum....
like its 'just a case of a' little arthritis'.
which im not At All trivializing in the least-
    cause i have that also!
    its just that to me-
it doesnt really put out how
    mind- numbing agony -wise alful
    it really is-
    you know?
    or ok...........
    maybe its just me....
and im being cranky and too critical..

I think the problem is that it is done like any other commercial. It is done to make the medication look like a miracle drug so everyone will try it. It's like that with any medication or product.

I think if there was an ad that was just about FM without a medication behind it then it might be better.

But as long as it is for a medication then it will be made to look like the med can fix it...which makes sense.

BTW...I take Lyrica and I am very happy with it although it definitely doesn't fix everything.

While it is wonderful that finally the word FIBROMYALGIA, and what it is, is finally getting out there, I've been frustrated with the Lyrica commercials since the onset. They basically have shown people who people believe are having these "little problems" and are basically not all that uncomfortable, and one little pill just brings them back to normal. The first commercial really was good I thought as it showed the emotions that go along with the disorder. They'd be doing all of us a big favor if they started showing people like you and I instead of someone that has an art class UGH! just breezing on with life after taking one pill. YES, Lyrica has helped me too, but it is not a cure all pill and there are still so many of us suffering. Of course the drug company wants to sell it's pills but show the reality of the illness along with the drug instead of all the the "beautiful people" taking it but I guess that's "marketing" now isn't it?

I do not like the commerical at all, its so phoney. The way the woman looks, shops its if we take the pill we will be ok.

But they are trying to sell their product and Lyrica may work for some.

I like the fact that people can see that fibro is real. What I don't like is that they make it sound like all there is to it is pain.

There are so many other problems, fatique, insomnia, anxiety, shaking, buzzing twitching, IBS, to name just a few.

And people will also think if we take a pill, all of a sudden we'll be fine.

What really makes me mad about this latest commercial is that the lady says "sometimes I really have to PUSH MYSELF to leave the house."

Isn't that the typical attitude of the general public who don't understand CFIDS/FM? Their commercial makes it sound like we won't have to push ourselves if we just take their pill.

The reality is that if someone has extreme fatigue, dizziness, memory problems, etc... that Lyrica will do little to nothing to improve their situation.

That whole "push myself" thing drives me NUTS. I just spent the last two days sleeping most of the two days because I had no choice in the matter. I was literally falling asleep sitting up.

When are we not pushing ourselves? People have no clue how bad this really is. And there are so many days when pushing it is not an option.

I hate those commercials. I am glad the word is getting out that Fibro is a REAL disease, but those commercials really suck. They should put a real patient on there who can barely move. Show the extreme cases for once.

My daughter is severly asthmatic. The asthma commercials do the same thing.

She has taken all kinds of medication and her asthma has never totally been under control.

I think sometimes a grain of salt helps

I saw Oprah today & she had Dr. Oz on again,he singled out a woman in the audience that has fibro & said years ago the medical profession didnt believe in it but ooh now they DOO!!! ( uu huh) and all u gotta do is take certain supplements & a little exercise and "POOF" you'll be feeling better in no time..........that makes about as much sense as the dang commercials!!!!!

Yep, I agree with all of you. It is great that at least they are talking about this DD and that it is real and all BUT I do not know how many people who , when I tell them that I have fibromyalgia, come out with "Are you taking Lyrica"? When they start the sentence I know what they are going to say almost before they start. I keeop saying it is NOT a cure and not all can take it anyway.
Yes, unfortunatly, all drug commercials are getting annoying to me as they almost sound the same. They are all cure alls but don't forget ALL the possible side effects and such.

Bringing it out into the forefront is great especially since I have had FM, CMPS for about 25 years with no dx until abaout 2 years ago.

Some of these commercials are really getting annoying to me, especially the one for Boniva. It is such a wonderful thing to take and they make it sound so great as then you do not have to REMEMBER to take a pill every week. "You just have to take it once a month." How stupid do you think we are people?? I know we have fibrofog BUT !!! The ones for Viagra and Cialis are really annoying. What is the world coming to - all SEX !!??

How stupid are these ads getting - very !!

    Hug to all,

She looks like she is on vacation. The commercial makes it look like "no big deal...just take this pill and magic!" No more fibromyalgia.

The most realistic commercial was the one with the woman pushing her daughter in a swing, holding onto her painful legs. Her body was highlighted in blue all over where she said it hurt like the flu.

    Pfizer sucks.

    make our own commercial!!!
    it would be real then.
they have NO IDEA that this stuff
does more to a person than
just give nightmare pain and agony...

    I like that idea!

As for the Lyrica, I'm on 300mg a day and have been for the last 4 months and I still barely make it through grocery shopping, forget about going shopping all day and going out to eat and spending all day doing anything that I want to do!!! It is definately not realistic, but if they showed the reality, I don't think people would be as eager to try it. I actually sent an email to Pfizer complaining about the commercials as did others and I never heard anything from them and they are still showing the commercial. They don't care about people with fibromyalgia, they only care about money. That is the biggest problem with our healthcare system, it is all about money. It took a commercial, a drug company looking to make money on us, to make this DD real!!! It is very frustrating.

As for the memory issues, I had a sleep test Sunday and I had to drive myself to save gas (I live in the country) and I could not remember where the hospital was for a full 15 minutes and it is a hospital that I have been going to for the last 10 years!!! Have I got Alzheimer's too???? HHHMMMMMM......
