    Hi, everyone!

I haven't posted in a looong while. It is partly because I 'found' I pain specialist that know FM very well and are not afraid to prescribe painmeds.

I finally got the clear from him to use Valoron after every doctor attacked me about using it. He also prescribed a higher dose.

Now suddenly an old problem came back after being gone for almost a year. My legs pain, a lot. I had leg pains since I was very little. What can I do? Is it part of FM?

It ranges from mild to severe. It seems to persist 24/7 at some level.

I've been taking Advil for these, up to 8 per day, but it helps only a little.

My PCP thinks I'm nuts (at least I think he does). Someone suggested years ago that I might have FM, but I don't have the point tenderness.

The ENT I saw for dizziness thinks I have CFS (my epstein barr markers show chronic recurrence, plus I have some other lab work that points to an autoimmune disorder).

I'm going to a rheumatologist in about a month (first available appointment!). Hope he can find some answers. His bio shows him to be very familiar with FM...hope he also understands CFS...probably does.

I used a microwave heated bag or a heating pad at night along with a pain killer. Later, I discovered an antibiotic, doxycycline. I took it for 1 1/2 years and it helped immensely for fibromyalgia deep leg pains.

Hi Fibrotears, Sorry you are hurting, My pain has been alot worse lately also and I can get some relief from Ibuprofin along with my other pain med.

I actually haven't heard the soap works for pain but have always heard it's excellent for restless legs syndrome/RLS.

If you try the soap bar, get Ivory soap and put it at the foot of your bed underneath your bottom sheet.

I hope you feel better soon.

First off, Fibrotears, I have a question or two:

What, please, is Valoron? I searched 3 medical sites and found zip, zero, zilch, nuthin.

You didn't say exactly where the leg pain calves were hurting, up to very recently after many tooooo long years, as if they had been beaten on for a week or two.

The fixit, and I was stunned too, turned out to be tonic water! Something about the quinine in it, according to info I've found, is what works for leg-calf pain.

T W tastes odd; I put a squirt of lime juice in mine to kill the taste. That's a win-win: I can stand to drink the T W and I also get some vit C at the same time.

If the pain in your legs is where mine was, you might think about trying what I use.

But: the sugarless sort of T W is sweetened with sodium saccharin. That's something to consider if you can't handle the s s.

But #2: you might notice a rise in B P. I did, but the rise got me only to what is called "normal" or a little above. The B P rise passes fairly quickly.

It's been raining here for 4 days and I'm in bed (working from home thank goodness) and my legs are killing me. I was just thinking, this is weird, they haven't bothered me like this in awhile. Maybe it's the weather. I'm going to take a hot shower which helps but like you said, you can't stay there all day. My down covers are keeping them warm and it helps too. Advil/Motrin helps me too but is hard on the stomach. I haven't tried the soap but I'm going to. Who knows? It can't hurt you and I have Ivory soap right here. I usually take percoset for pain but have to supplement with the Motrin sometimes. Good luck, this is not easy to live with.

I suffer with chronic thigh and calf pain in both legs. Soaking in a hot tub helps, stretching, and strangely enough, walking loosens them up very nicely!

When I get up in the morning, I can hardly walk, but as I move about, I loosen up a bit. Make sure you don't take too much ibuprofen if you also take vicodin or percocette, as they already have ibuprofen in them, and it's bad for your liver. The opiate itself isn't harmful to your liver, but the ibuprofen they mix it with. Most dr.'s won't tell you this, so be careful! I also take soma, a muscle relaxant, and I'm not sure it works or not, but I take it anyway.

Valoron's active ingredient is Tilidine Hydrochloride. In South Africa it is a schedule 7 drug. It is an opiod.

My leg pain is deep inside the bone. From my knees down. It is an intense dull ache.

I also noticed that my legs hurt more in cold weather. It is still winter in SA and very cold. It is suppose to be spring 1 September but I doubt that the weather is going to get warmer that soon.

I don't know if soap will work but from reading all the time on this site when my pain started back this week I tried trigger point massage. Took me a bit to find the trigger point as I don't have the book some talk about here. But laying in bed I just used my thumb and knuckles and after a few minutes the pain was gone and I fell to sleep.

    Hi all

This is my main complaint they hurt severly leg pain puts me to tears and this is how I found out about my FMS.

I also have the tender points but my legs are the worse I get in a hot tub of water and it helps as long as water is hot.

When it cools pain comes back but I also have lower and upper back problems and I think with FMS it just makes my leg pain 20 times worse than other pain the disc causes pain to travel down my butt threw legs and feet.

I also had open heart surgery in 05 now with the upper back disc problems FMS tears me up in upper back now due to cut nerves.

So you might want to check disc in back with MRI and see if the problem goes deeper than FMS.

What i'm trying to say is heck i forgot ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm oh any kind of trama can cause the FMS to be worse.

My doctor gives me novacaine shots in my hips and lower back. It works great and keeps working for months. I guess it tells your body your not in pain any more and the pain goes away.
