HI TEs, I have the burning pain on each side bellow my breast's and it sucks as you know. have you ever gotten it where it is like someone is pulling your mucles out of your ribs? It is almost breath taking it hurts so bad. I am from Wisconsin but let me tell you with all the crap going on in the U.S. Canada is really sounding good to my husband and I. We only live 10 hours from thier now and we want to live in a peacefull country for our childrens sake...I have five children. they are 1,2,4,10,and 11...I often wonder how I do it. I am so very greatfull to my husband who is really understanding and helpfull as well as my 11 year old son. Do you have fibro as well? Do you have alot of lumps? Are they only located in your ribs or other places as well?
I almost forgot to answer your question as to how long a flare lasts me..well they can last for 3 or 4 months and then maybe a weeks worth of painlessness then it comes right back for another 3 or 4 months. I do not take anything at all for this because I believe that our bodies have enough to deal with let alone the added crap that is in all the drugs. We need our liver and kidneys to stay stong and all that stuff does is slowly kill them. I do see a chriopractor and that is what i believe keeps me going every day. After he works on me I am great for the rest of the day untill I go to bed of course...[This Message was Edited on 10/20/2002]

I'm actually enjoying this talk with you. No one understands this with me so having someone who knows is greatt. Right now the pain is so bad. It feel like pulling, pressure, tingling etc. My doctor diagnosed me with fibro last year after 7 years of hell. I'm waiting now to see an excellent fibro specialist in Toronto. I'm currently taking no meds and I really believe I need to in order to break this pain cycle. Does your pain in your sides hurt constantly? and what meds do you take? Do you feel worse if you're ever constipated (because I do). Stretching helps but only for about 5 minutes. Yes, I also feel those little lumps not only in my ribs but in my stomach area. Weird eh?
Do you also get the pain in you chest wall? That was my primary symptom for years and now the list goes on. Do you suffer from cfs as well.? I look forward to chating with you soon and if you move to Canada we must meet.
    God Bless

P.S. Do you have any other symptoms with you fibro?[This Message was Edited on 10/20/2002]
Sometimes I wonder if it's problems with my stomach but I did an upper gi and it came back normal. Have you had and stomach tests done to rule out any other problems?[This Message was Edited on 10/20/2002]

I am always in pain...their is not a moment that goes by that my chest does not hurt or espically my ribs. I honestly take nothing at all for the pain. My chrio says that what those pain meds do to a person in time is like death. he said that doctors might as well write a percription for death in 10 to 20 years. So as far as the pain I deal with it. I do take synthroid for thyroid disease and I also take herbs like malic acid with magnesium as well as chomile. My best friend used to take all kinds of pain meds. and when she started to see my chrio he told her all the side affects and she went off of them all and takes her malic acid with mag and is doing better then she was before. She was always a very very tiny person and when she started all those drugs she put on weight and she found out that all those drugs caused her weight gain. I also have cfs as well as fibro. my symptoms are alot but here we go,,,headachs...dizzy...awfull stomach pains....i hurt pretty much everywhere....chest pains..my neck is always messed up...swollen glands...tired all the time...sore throat...behind my knees hurt real bad...i loose weight very fast when i am in a flare....my teeth were always very nice and then boom now they are falling apart...i feel like i have the flu all the time...i get panic attacks...as well as anaxity...i need to learn how to spell again...so what are all of your's? I guess praying has really helped me alot as well. I look at my children and keep going for them. I often feel guilty because I can't do as much as I would like. I also notice that when I am constipated my ribs really hurt even more. This is really nice to talk with you. I plan on comming to Canada in spring so maybe we can meet and you can show me around?
Yes I have had many tests done on my tummy to make sure I was not dealing with something else. I have had a cat scan on it as well as an upper and yes the wonderful lower GI'S. Of course they were all normal...[This Message was Edited on 10/20/2002]

I'm sitting here right now and I'm tearing because you suffer exactly like me. I actually relieved because alot of people on this board suffer differently and I was confused. I have tons of symptoms to. I have horrible stomach pains, tense neck muscles all the time, dizziness, sweats, trembling after cleaning or activity, facial pain, fatigue(especially when I'm waiting for my period) heavy periods, sore thighs, insomnia(due to pain), stiffness every morning when I wake up, painful tender points and of course my worst and daily symptoms chest pain and extreme pain in my lower ribcage....and the list goes on. By the way, do you have a hiatus hernia(it's like an ulcer at the bottom of the esophogus? I have it and I've read it's common in fibro patients. If there's anything you want to talk about, please write to me. I feel that we've really connected and if you do come to Canada(Toronto), I would love to meet you and your family(we could have a fibro party...ha!ha!) Post back if you'd like.
    God Bless,
    Tes

P.S. Do you have all boys or both?
[This Message was Edited on 10/20/2002]

Another question for you. Do you have alot of gas when your lower ribs are bad? I wonder if we also suffer from IBS?[This Message was Edited on 10/20/2002]

when you mentioned the trembling after cleaning I get that so bad it is scary. I thought I was the only one. well it does make me feel better knowing that I have someone to share my problems with. My friend haaas this as well but she does not have all the symptoms I have as I do not have alot of what she has. Yes I do have acid reflux. It really sucks. I have 4 boys and one girl. what do you have? My daughter is 4 and very very spoiled. please keep in touch with me ok? My e-mail addy is roskopf@sbcglobal.net and if you want leave me yours. so do you ever go on e-bay? I swear I am so addicted to that site it is awfull..well hope to hear from you soon. I am going to go and take a hot bath in some epsom salt and I will check this when I am out. God bless you and your family

I have 2 boys, would like a girl but don't know if I could do this again. You certainly have your hands full. It was soooo nice chating with you and if you have any questions or just need someone to talk to I'm here. I'm a stay at home mom so I come here often. Hope you sleep well tonight (don't think I will, I'm in so much pain).
Sweet dreams and god bless you and your family
    Big hugs,
    Tes

I don't go on e-bay but I do browse Victoria Secrets often(love that website). Just curious what do you look like? Noticed lately that alot of people with fms are really attractive. I guess people curse us and we get sick. I'm blonde(fake of course, blue eyes, petite about 5'6) Hope I'm not getting to personal. Take care.[This Message was Edited on 10/20/2002]

I to am a stay at home mom. You know I often think of having one more because when I am prego I never feel better. They say that for some reason when you have fibro you feel your best when you are prego because of all the hormons. who know's this dd is crazy...I am also blond with blue eyes I am 5'1 and weigh 119 lbs. It does seem like it attacks the healthier people because it is not often that you hear of a sick person who gets it. I was always very athletic and a small person and boom out of no where I was sick. were your delieveries natural? all mine were except for the last one. he was to big and was not comming out the normal way. I was in labor for 12 hrs. untill they said we will have to do a c-section...never agin will I have one of those...I swear that is where most of my problems with my tummy started..well I will talk to you tomarrow. try to sleep good. drink some warm milk or tea it may help...

well how did you sleep last night? I actually slept very good for once but boy oh boy when I woke up I was a hurting unit. I go to the chrio today so I can not wait...

How are you today. Yes, I slept okay last night. It took me awhile to fall asleep because of the rib pain, but once I fell asleep that was it. Thanks for asking. Both my deliveries were c-sections. One was emergency and the other was breech. I find after my second c-section everything got worse for me. I'm still in alot of pain. I go to the doctor today and I think I'm going to ask for some heavy duty pain killers just to break the pain cycle. With the holidays coming now I wonder how I'm going to cope. Christmas shopping and visting people this year is going to be harder for me. I find that my flares lately have been lasting so much longer. (months at a time). Anyways, let me know how you're doing and how the chiorpactor went. Does it help you and for how long?
    Take care,
    Tes

P.S. What are your hobbies and what field of work were you in?

My chrio appt. went very veyr good. I will feel good all day untill I lay down but I go everyday this week except tomarrow. Have you ever tried one? They really do work better then anything else has. I like the chrio better then the massage therapist. I love to cook and do crafts. when I did work I was a cook for a company called Quad Graphics. I would cook for the employies and when ever Larry Quadrachie which was the owner would big meetings or be on his train I was the main cook for him as well. What do you like to do?

How are you this evening? I could be better. My doctor is on maternity leave and I don't like her replacement so I went back to the doctor I had before I had the kids. I just can't shake this pain that I have in my lower ribs. I'm scared it could be my stomach. I had ultrasounds done, upper gi and blood work last month and everything was normal. So I went to my other doctor and he is sending me to a stomach specialist to be on the safe side. They will probably to an endoscopy(the test were they put the tube down). I had that done 8 years ago and they found a small hiatus hernia. Do you really get really bad pain below the bottom of the breast area. It just won't go away. Have you had an endoscopy done before? I didn't really get into my diagnosis with fibro(my other doctor diagnosed me) but he said it could be muscle or to much acidity in my stomach so he gave me some pills for the stomach. I'll see if they work. I guess because the pain is there it's hard to say what it is. He thinks it could be ibs. Maybe to much gas built up. Who knows. Anyways, hope your doing well and hopefully you can give me some input. Hope the kids are good. Oh, by the way, I studied accounting in college and I love to decorate, sew, draw and bake.
    Thanks for listening Shannon

P.S. Does your fibro affect you from keeping a job? Mine does big time. I can't wait to get back to work someday.

Yes I have the pain really bad in between my brests. if you touch them I want to hit you as hard as I can kind of pain. As far as the ribs and tummy pain that is by far my worst complaint. I would love to go a day with no stomach pain as well as rib but I do not see that comming anytime soon.
I am glad that your doctor appt. went well. The kids are naughty today but healthy. how are your's? I have never had an endo. thing. Just the upper and lower GI's and cat scan on the stomach and all the orgons in their....

How are you today. Thanks for posting back. My kids are a little off the wall as well. I bought my older son his halloween costume and he dosen't want to take it off. I'm trying to explain to him that he has to wait for halloween but he refuses to listen. I was also curious as how long you have had fibro and your symptoms. I have had it for almost 9 years and I think severe emotional stress brought it on. Also, did you ever have surgery before you had the kids. I've read that being put to sleep(anethesia) can also cause fibro in people. I had an emergency appendix taken out when I was 7. Just curious. My ribcage is horrible today(like ususal). I'm trying to do laundry and it's tough. Hope your doing well and can't wait to hear from you. Another thing, has your rib pain ever questioned you to think it's your stomach? Take to you soon.
    God Bless,
    Tes

P.S. Did you have to stop working because of your fibro? I did. Had an excellent job with a stock broker in downtown Toronto. What a bummer. Eh!

I am doing ok today. I am dizzy and in pain but that time of the month is also around the cornor. I have had fms symptoms for about 4 years now. I also did have surgery when I was 22 for some teeth and I was completly put under for that twice. Mine seemed to get worse after my last baby last year though. Yes I often wonder if my rib pain is my tummy or even my kidneys. I just so bad want to feel human again. So how old are you? I am 29. I hope your day gets better

How are you? Just got around to responding to your message. I'm having a rough day. I'm so nauseous and oh the PAIN. Just finished ironing and I am so tired. Lately, I've been so depressed that I tell my husband that I can't take it anymore. If things were just a litle bit easier. I hate the fact that I have no income, although my husband is o.k. with that. I'm 31 years old. If this flare does not ease up, I don't know what I'm going to do. Do you feel worse in the summer or winter? I used to be worse in the summer, but I'm starting to wonder. How is your day going?

    Talk to you soon.
    Tes

P.S. Do you hurt only when the ribs are touched or do you just have that damn nagging pain all the time?
  18. shannon

    shannon Guest

I know what you mean when you say that sometimes yoo do not want to go on. I feel like that every morning when I wake up but then I hear or see the kids and it makes me gratefull that I am hear to enjoy them. I sure hope you a better day tomorrow. I am going to go christmas shopping tonight to get some of it out of the way. With five kids and 16 god parents I need to start early. does your lympf nodes ever hurt? or are they ever swollen? My ribs mainly hurt if I streach the wrong way or anytime you touch them and when I am in a flare they hurt no matter what I do. So tell me a little about Canada?
  19. tes

    tes New Member

My lymph nodes do hurt. I notice when I'm waiting for my period they hurt under my arms and my lymph nodes in my neck and they feel swollen. We are so much alike. Like to see what you look like, we probably resemble each other in looks as well. Canada, Toronto especially, is a beautiful place. Our medical expenses are paid for (which is a big plus), the summers are getting better and longer now. With all that going on in the States, I'm grateful for where I am. I live about 20 minutes from downtown Toronto. It's a beautiful area. Nice homes, nice neighbours that all look out for each other. Have you ever been to Toronto, and where have you been in Canada? I just don't understand why this pain won't let go. Do you have any answers. It's o.k. in the morning and as the day goes on it gets worse and worse. At around this time I'm a complete mess. My husband just got home from work (it's about 7pm). He's been working alot of hours lately. Does your husband work late hours as well. It's tough on me. But then I think of you and say "wow, how does Shannon do it with 5 kids). I mentioned to my husband how we met and he thinks it's neat. Someone to talk to that understands. Hope your well and look forward to talking to you tonight.

Hey you, I have never been in Canada but know alot of people that have and I always hear how peacefull and nice it is that I plan on taking a trip this spring with the hubby and kids. Paid medical? wow that would be a nice switch. They sure charge you enough for it out here in the states. My husband own's his own buisness so he is always gone. He builds and drywalls homes for a living. That is the only reason why he does not want to move. It would be hard for him to start a buisness from scratch where his work and name are not known. That is ok maybe I will move out there with the kids and he can just send me money and visit on the weekends. LOL.
I wish I could tell you why we hurt but I have been surching for that answear my self. Have not found it yet.
Have you ever thought that maybe you could have costocondritus? I am sure I spelt it wrong. That is where you have inflamation of the ribs. I have that and it sounds like you have it as well...My husband thinks that it is neat that I met someone online that I have so much in common with as well. I like it as well. So what are your childrens names? Mine are Seth Erik Rachael Tate and Myls (myls sounds like miles) I put that their because most people sound it out wrong. well I hope you sleep well and I will talk to you again very soon.Oh yes before I forget to answear your question as to winter or summer making me feel worse. It has always been summer. It is always so damn stormy and humid that it really really is bad in the summer months. Well summer is done but the damn pain is still here. Go figure.
