    Hi all,

Any ideas how do you really know if you have a sinus infection? Today when I blew my nose there were small strands of blood in the clear mucus (gross I know, sorry). And is there anything natural to use for sinus pain? I can't use decongestants because it makes my heart speed up. The steroid nose sprays don't do anything but irritate my nose. The Benadryl is not drying up the fluid in my ears.

A natural doctor I once saw said to use Xclear nasal spray (with saline, xylitol, and grapefruit seed extract) and my friends say Zican Allegy spray is good. Any users of natural sinus help---PLEASE POST!

I took a Z-pak (azithromax) a month ago for an upper respiratory infection when my head was aching before and I felt better, now it's back. The aching face and head pain. Doctors want me to take another Z-pak. Do Fibromites get sinus infections over and over again? And do we just treat with antibiotics????

    Tania,
A real nasal infection has dark yellow/green mucous, or so they say. A couple yrs. back I had a terrible what I thought was sinus infection. Terrible pain in my sinus passages, around the eyes, ect.

The doc looked and said he didn't see anything, and did an xray to be complete. The xray didn't show anything, but he did bloodwork and found elevated white cells (infection). He was very surprised.

I think some very strange things go on with us. Why have pressure and pain, and find nothing. There's more to ll of this than meets the eye.

kbak! I've had the same experience! Was even hospitalized due to the high WBC (during my preg). But they found no infect in my sinus which is where all the pain was. In fact I'd say the face/sinus pain is by far my most extreme pain.

Tania - I've tried Euphorbium (homeopathic nose spray). Can't say it's a miracle worker as I have yet to find one of those. It helps a little. The biggest help I've found for the pain was a trigger point shot (by my naturopath - not cortison) in my face where the pain radiated from. It made a huge difference in the pain level but didn't take away the blocked feeling. I can barely breath through the right nostril.

Sorry for your pain - I empathize.

I went thru over 4 months of sinus trouble with excruciating headaches. Twice to the doc. for special meds. He recommended along with the meds a Sinus Wash which you can buy at any drugstore. It comes with a special bottle and you mix water with the envelope of salt/baking soda and run this thru your nose. I think it did help me.

Good news, today I saw a program with Dr. Valerie Saxion and the subject was about yeast and sinus problems, one of her employee's and Dr. Carl Baugh on TBN have been cured from sinus infections by Collidal Silver nasal spray that Dr. Saxion recommends. She also has a website worth checking out with lots of show notes including Fibro/chronic fatique help. Silvercreeklabs

Hope this helps your sinus problem.

Have tried the Xclear nasal spray and everything else you can think of, including making my own nasal spray with MSM, also used colloidal silver spray, grapefruit seed extract, neti pot, etc., etc., etc.... everything you can think of including using the special attachment for electric toothbrush for irrigation.

Most interesting was Firecop/Jill's observation that after going on IV abx for lyme, her sinus pressure decreased/disappeared....

have had only one documentable infection myself, rest of time catscans show up clear, etc.... sigh.

I use colloidal silver when I think I'm coming down with a cold--however I spray into my mouth. Is there a specific nasal spray? Please advise!

IT's interesting that some of you have found antibiotics to be helpful when no sinusitis is found. I've had the same experience and haven't been able to explain it. It does make me think there is some kind of infection going on. Especially since several of us have mentioned elevated wbc counts.

    Interesting.

I had repeated sinus infections last year & nasal polyps. I didn't think I was going to make it. Doc put me on a glutathione nasal spray. It saved my life. I had tried everything else & nothing worked. The glutathione got rid of the polyps and I didnt need surgery. Luckily this doc believes in antioxidants. He said the glutathione is the master of all antioxidants.

I am battling a sinus thing right now myself. I haven't seen a doctor...no money until next payday. I've had the pain and pressure and the lovely green mucous. I've got it so bad I feel lightheaded. It sucks.

I do have allergies. I do have asthma which is acting up too. And my air purifiers haven't been running for the last week because I ran out of HEPAS and they are on backorder. I will never question whether or not my air purifiers help. They definately do.

About ten years ago, I had a sinus infection that just would not go. My Dr referred me to a specialist who tested me for everything (no allergies) and then put me on four different courses of antibiotics. You know, I can't remember the name of the one that finally worked.

Fast forward to now. I have another sinus infection that won't clear and it's also in my ears. I'm getting vertigo on and off. I do know that they are an awful infection to get rid off.

I'll be going back to my Dr to try something else. I'll let you know if anything does it for me.

(Sometimes I get a bit of ear pain and sinus pressure relief from sinus tylenol but I have to take the night time one during the day. Stupid drugs work backwards on me)

    Good luck.

I am having the same problem, over and over..I have found nothing so far to help..I have the Zicam allergy relief but haven't tried it..

Everything I have tried seems to have a side effect..The steriod nasal sprays, Flonase was one can't remember the other caused me to be more anxious and depressed than I am..The antihistimines didn't help..

I am miserable and need something that doesn't cause side effects..I am not sure if I have sinusitis or allergies, probably both..

The doc says she isn't sure so put me on an antibodic and it did seem to help but as soon as I go off of it, I will be ok for about a week and then its back again..

I am sorry I have no advise but will be following the post and hope someone has an answer..

    God BLess,

    Ladies,

Do you have headaches and scalp soreness with your sinus pain? When I bend over and then come up--my head pounds. This is why I really think I have infected sinuses. I have a Z-Pak (azithromax) staring at me--but I'm determined to try some natural remedies. When I get desperate enough, I'll have to pop those antibiotics.

Just curious if you get the head pain as well.

    Thanks,
    Tania

i just read on a natural cures site that if all else fails, use a docongestant, but only a decongestant. it said that if you use a med with antihistamine and a decongestant, they kind of counteract each other to drain the sinuses. i've been taking sudfed that has the antihistamine (i've been sneezing and having the itchy throat) and a docongestant and it hasnt been working very well. i switched to just the decongestant and now, they are starting to drain. i cant sleep and i have a bad cough from the drainage, but at least they are starting to clear.
