HI EVERYONE. HOPE ALL OF U ARE DOING WELL. THIS IS MY FIRST POSTING. I'M 32 YRS OLD AND MY HEALTH HAS BEEN WORSENING. I'VE HAD FIBRO FOR 7 YRS AND (CFS TOO I THINK).
MY HEALTH HAS BEEN WORSENING IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION TODAY THAT I COULD BE SUFFERING FROM SLLEP APNEA. IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS MY BLOOD PRESSURE HAS GONE UP AND I'M ALWAYS DIZZY. IN THE LAST TWO DAYS I NOTICED THAT I GET REALY SICK DURING THE TIME I'M ASLEEP. YESTERDAY I FELT GOOD ALL DAY LONG MY BLOOD PRESSURE WAS 117/75 (10:00PM)RIGHT BEFORE I WENT TO SLEEP I WAS HAPPY BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WOULD SLEEP GREAT AND NOT FEEL SICK BOY WAS I WRONG. AT 1:30AM I WOKE UP SWEATING WITH A TERRIBLE HEADACHE, DIZZY, UNCONTROLABLE SHAKING AND MY BLOOD PRESSURE WAS 150/101. MY CHEST HURT ALOT. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME 3 NIGHTS (A COUPLE OF TIMES A NIGHT)IN A ROW THIS WEEK. I FEEL LIKE I'M GOING CRAZY BUT I FEEL SO SICK I TELL MY BOYFRIEND THAT IT FEELS LIKE MY BODY HAS SHUT DOWN AND THEN SOMETHING WAKES ME UP AND MY BODY STARTS GOING CRAZY AFTER THAT AND IT'S HARD FOR ME TO CONTROL IT. AND I NOTICED THAT IT ONLY HAPPENS TO ME WHEN I'M SLEEPING. PLEASE HELP ME WHAT DO I DO? SHOULD I GO TO THE HOSPITAL? I CAN'T HANDLE ONE MORE SLEEPLESS NIGHT. NOT TO MENTION I'M AFRAID TO FALL ASLEEP BECAUSE I FEEL SO SICK WHEN I WAKE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. HAS ANYINE OUT THERE EXPERIENCED THIS TOO? SORRY IF THIS IS SO LONG BUT I'M DESPERATE AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSO TO DO.

DEFINITELY GET THIS CHECKED OUT IMMEDIATELY. I SUFFER FROM FM AND ALSO HAVE HAD SLEEP APNEA FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS. I HAVE NOT HAD THE EXTREME SYMPTOMS YOU HAVE HAD, BUT I HAVE WOKEN UP NOT BEING ABLE TO BREATHE BEFORE AND IT IS VERY SCARY. ONE TIME, I KNOW IT WAS AT LEAST 30 SECONDS BEFORE I COULD GET MY BREATH. ANYWAY, I FINALLY WENT TO A SLEEP SPECIALIST AND FOUND OUT AFTER TESTING THAT I HAVE A PRETTY SEVERE CASE OF IT. I NOW HAVE WHAT IS CALLED A BI-PAP MACHINE AND IT HELPS A LOT.

ALTHOUGH I'M NOT AN EXPERT OR A DOCTOR, SLEEP APNEA DOES SHUT YOUR BODY DOWN; YOUR HEART STOPS BEATING, ETC AND IT COULD BE FATAL. I'M NOT TRYING TO SCARE YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE NERVOUS ENOUGH ALREADY, JUST TRYING TO HELP YOU TO REALIZE HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO GET THIS CHECKED OUT ASAP. TELL YOUR FAMILY DOCTOR WHAT IS GOING ON AND ASK TO BE RECOMMENDED TO A SLEEP SPECIALIST FOR TESTING.

FEEL FREE TO POST BACK IF YOU NEED TO TALK OR NEED ANYTHING ELSE.

    GOOD LUCK,
    DARLA+

THANKS DARLA I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE. IT'S HARD TO TALK TO MY BOYFRIEND AND I DON'T THINK HE KNOWS HOW SCARED I AM AND HOW SICK I FEEL TOO. LAST NIGHT I ALMOST WENT TO THE HOSPITAL BUT I DIDN'T BECUASE I WAS SO TIRED I DON'T THINK I WOULD MAKE IT TO THE HOSPITAL AND TODAY I'M TOTALLY SCARED TO SLEEP. I'M PREPARED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL IF I FEEL SICK TONIGHT. BUT I DON'T KNOW IF THEY WILL BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME AT THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE I DON'T THINK THEY CAN MONITOR WHAT HAPPENS TO ME OR IF THEY WILL BE ABLE TO TELL IF MY HEART IS STOPPING WHILE I'M SLEEPING OR WHAT IS CAUSING ME TO FEEL SO SICK.

IT'S NICE TO VENT A BIT AND SHARE WITH OTHERS THAT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE FEELING.

    GISSE29,

WISH I COULD BE OF MORE HELP. NOT SURE ABOUT GOING TO THE HOSPITAL. I WOULDN'T THINK IT WOULD HURT TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL JUST IN CASE. WHO KNOWS - THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO RELAX YOU AND CALM YOU DOWN SO YOU CAN SLEEP IF NOTHING ELSE. I'VE HAD PANIC ATTACKS AS WELL SOMETIMES, AND IF THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE HAVING, THEY ARE SCARY TOO. IS THERE ANYONE THERE WHO CAN DRIVE YOU OR MAYBE A FRIEND WHO CAN STAY WITH YOU FOR THE NIGHT WHO CAN DRIVE YOU? NOT SURE IF YOU SHOULD BE DRIVING IF YOU'RE THAT SICK AND EXHAUSTED.

MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU. LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOES.

This will tell you what is going on in the night with your oxygen levels, your heart, your brain waves, etc. My son just had one last week and we haven't gotten the results yet, but in your case, you should see someone. Terri

I also think you should get a sleep study done. It could be contributing to cognitive problems such as concentration, muscle pains, tachycardia and tiredness. I got one and am going for the surgery soon.

I have also had times where I wake up and can't catch my breath. I am having other symptoms like hot flashes, fatigue, dizziness etc. I do feel that you need to see a dr as soon as possible. Some of your symptoms could be something else. I am going in for a sleep study in 2 weeks. I will let everyone know what the outcome is. You should also let us know what you find out. It could be beneficial to all of us.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT, I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
I AM DEFENITELY GOING TO GET A SLEEP STUDY THAT WAY I KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. I'M GOING TO THE DOCTOR NEXT WEEK AND REQUESTING FOR HER TO DO A SLEEP STUDY.

THE COMPANY I WORK FOR IS CHANGING INSURANCE COMPANY WHICH IS EFFECTIVE TOMORROW 4/1. I HOPE THEY DON'T GIVE ME A HARD TIME ABOUT DOING A SLEEP STUDY. ARE THEY EXPENSIVE?

BIG HUGS TO ALL HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A PAIN FREE DAY.

I just had my gallbladder taken out and they had me hooked up to the oxygen detector on my finger and everytime I would fall to sleep the alarm would go off...then I stayed awake and they took my oxygen off to see how I would do and it still went off about every 15 minutes or so...scared me to death. They said I should have a sleep study done. Now I am really concerned. This can be serious I am told so getting it done as soon as possible.
Wishing you luck and I would get study done just to make sure.

I never had sleep apnea until I gained weight with the FM, and because I have pituitary insufficiency as well. I think the pituitary caused the FM.

However, I began to snore like you wouldn't believe and finally had a sleep lab and I had sleep apnea and the delta wave non-restorative sleep and the periodic limb movements.

When your sleep doc asks for permission to show your sleep lab and the film at a meeting for other sleep docs, you know that IS SIMPLY NOT A GOOD THING, AND THAT IS MY CASE.

It took me a few nights to get accustomed to the CPAP machine, as I have claustrophobia and tried the nasal cannula first and my nose swelled up like the guy who used to be in the movies with that big blond.

I was allergic to the material the nasal nipples were made of.

Then, I went to the mask, and I would put it on and watch TV with it, and gradually work into being able to just put it on and go to sleep. Now, I simply cannot sleep without it.

Mine broke one night and I had the worst headache and dry nose and mouth and awakened 20 times.

GO GET CHECKED AT THE HOSPITAL AND THEN REQUEST A SLEEP LAB.
