I had a Dr's appointment yesterday and I told the Dr that I am in sooooo much pain and that she hadn't prescribed me any pain meds at our last appointment which was about 5 weeks all she did was change my celexa to zoloft....I have been in so much pain for over 4 months (honestly)and than yesterday I told her that the pain was really bad and again all she did was up my zoloft to 100mg ans said she didn't feel comfortable giving me any pain meds with zoloft! Plus she tells me I have arthritis in my jaw bone up to my ears.... What am I to do?? She said she'll see me in a couple of weeks!!! RIGHT!!! if I'm still alive!!!
    Help...what can I do???

    Switch doctors. Really fast.

There is no reason for you to suffer at all. Find another doctor that will listen to you and help ease your pain.

    big hug to you

because I have applied for disability wouldn't it be wise to keep the same Dr that has been there from the beginning??
    or does it really matter???

    Aeronsmom:
I would doctor shop. Before I had someone to help me I was in excruciating pain and spent my days almost in a panic from the pain being out of control. I believe pain control is the first step in improving quality of life.
    Just a suggestion, Aeronsmom.

The other Anne C here. I think I would switch doctors. Also I worry as she switched that celexa to zoloft without a count down time, which is iffy to your system to say the least. It sounds to me as if she is treating you for It's all in the moind rather than accepting you have pain at all. I am switching docs due to the same thing. Also she may not be that supporting on the Disability if she isn't hearing you.....you may be better with another doc for that.

    UGH!
It is your choice to get the professional you need.

So, if the snake oil doctors are whacko dump them!!!!

I had one whacko Dr (she ) tell me...I would be fine in 6 months and just 'work the system for un employment" as SHE did it in college and knew how the system works!

    I never went back.**********
************** DONT use her for your doctors on your social security forms!!!!!! THey send letters to all the ones you put down,

THIS same whacko told them I had 'normal hearing'
and I am severly hearing impaired!!!!

I finally had to go to a Pain Management doctor. I looked under the "specialist" section of my PPO plan and found the Pain Management specialists in my area. I do have to go in once a month religiously, but it is worth it to try to relieve some of the pain and jerky limbs. Just a suggestion. I am not sure what ins. if any you have, but that is what a Pain Management doctor is there for. I have had to deal with the ridicule of the Pain Management being nothing more than a legal "drug dealer" but oh well, what else are we supposed to do? Good luck in what ever choice you make. I wish you the best!!

my doc insisted that i try a pain clinic with a pain specialist, PT, Pharmasist, nurses,etc...the cinic was 80 miles away and required 1-3 visits per week....also, if you canceled 2x you were kicked out....

my DH and i went for the morning part of the assesment at this clinic....my DH who was all about me going was shockd at how the doc talked to me and treated me....the doc said that everyone lives with pain and that if i would just exercise that i would be fine...that all the staff there had chronic pain and were fine...they just dealt with it and that , GET THIS, they don't prescribe pain meds at this clinic....they don't believe in it!!!! needless to say, we skipped the rest of the assessment and drove 80 miles back home.....i was in bed for days recovering from the one visit!!! and they wanted meto drive there 1-3 times weekly....RIGHT....

i told my doc about how the visit went and he hasn't said another word about me returning there....

i am shocked at how many stories are being told here of our pain being dismissed by the doc's...it is the same story for everyone! i am being treated for pain with meds...i dont know how i would survive without the relief....that is why i switched doc's when i started getting sick...my nurse practitioner was very into natural healing and 'living with the pain'....Ba-Bye....got a new doc...

i think my doc is getting educated about what works and what doesn't by treating me....we live in a small town and i am so lucky to have him...there have been times when he is out of town and none of the other doc's will refill my rx's...they treat me like i am a drug addict and won't refill even though i have a huge file telling all about the pain meds i have been taking...they say that i have to come in for an appointment first before they will refill it...give me a break! what for? are they going to decide by looking at me if i am a drug addict? my doc and i have even wsigned a contract that is in my file...the other doc 's suck ...even when i agreed to go for the appointment for the refill that they should have just called in, the recdptionist said thqt the doc was over booked and could n't see me any ways...so maddening!!!
