So happy I could cry!

I’m so happy to have found this site that it actually brought tears to my eyes. I am a 33 yr old wife, mother of 2 children, business owner and I am very active in my community. In 1998 I was t-boned by a ¾ ton pick-up truck and have been dealing with extreme pain ever since.

I have been to too many doctors to mention and no one has been able to help me deal with the pain or tell me what is wrong. A specialist in Minneapolis actually told me that my next step was fusion to the bottom 4 vertebrae even though the MRI showed nothing!

I just started seeing a new doctor because mine is retiring and I am dealing with headaches on top of the head to toe pain that was present before. During my last visit I commented how the pain that went from shoulder to shoulder was worse now as well. He mentioned fibromyalgia as one of the things we needed to look at. I went on-line and here you are! I can’t believe how this site tells about my pain! Every trigger point points to what I have been complaining about for the past 7 years! How could this have been missed by the 5 (+) doctors and specialists that I have been sent to?

I will be visiting my doctor tomorrow morning to discuss the information I found here – wouldn’t it be great to actually have found the problem and be able to treat it!

I’m sorry this is so long but I just had to express my gratitude for sites like this!

I'm glad you found the support group and want to welcome you. I'm sorry you are here because that means you have pain and I'd rather you be living your life without needing us. Well, you know what I mean.

Gee, you saw a lot of docs and they all missed the FM dx? Wow! My family doc missed it to, but sent me to physical therapy and they were the ones who told her I had FMS. Then it was later confirmed by a jerk of a pain specialist.

    Good luck to you.

Glad you found us. I felt the same way when I found this board and have been here over a year now. It's so good to have people to talk to who really UNDERSTAND.

I feel for ya -- I was in a very bad car accident at age 20 and suffered a compression fracture of L5 vertabrae. Just a miracle that I recovered and can walk. Pain is with me daily, though, and the fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease I now have has just amplified it.

One theory that resonates here is that fibromyalgia is triggered by trauma. What you've been through is certainly physically and emotionally traumatic.

I hope fibro isn't added to your plate.....but I know you need to know for sure what is wrong, and I hope you get a proper diagnosis soon.

Nice to meet you and hurry back! Wishing you well, nature

mos have tried or are trying everything they can find. I'm sure you will hear all sorts of advice and you will also note that rarely do two of us respond to the same treatments the same way. Pick and choose what interests you, then go online and to your local library and check out each thing.

If something IS helping someone they are usually like a newly reformed smoker, excited and anxious to share what worked. It's good to be hopeful and listen, but also be aware that the same thing may or may not work for you.

It can be very expensive to try some of these therapies also, so my own opinion on some of it is to wait and
see what the overall outcomes are a year from now. I don't have a lot of money to throw here and there on therapies that might or might not work for I try to read and determine whose symptoms and experiences seem close to mine and see what they are doing.

I have a good friend who uses a TENS
machine and swears by them, should be a salesperson for them actually. LOL!
She is just so gung ho about the good results she has with hers that she finds it hard to believe it doesn't help everyone. I didn't tell her for a long time that I have an expensive one sitting here that my doctor wanted me to try. Instead of renting like I had a brain, I bought one right away. Well it does ZERO for me.
I finally had to tell her but I hated to, and she still believes I MUST have used it wrong or something.

But that's the story of the darned diseases. It's just plain fact that what works for me may not work for you. So read, watch and look into all you see on here and then decide with your doctor what may be worth a try.
    Good luck!! Bambi

Your suggestions will be invaluable. I will be looking more at the site tonight to see what is out there. I have tried so many things for the pain that it will be terrific if my dr does agree that I suffer from FM. I know some people may think it is strange that I hope this is it but I also know that almost everyone reading this post know why I want to know what is wrong.
Bambi: I have used a tens for the past 7 years. I have come to the conclusion that it works only because it stings so bad you forget about the rest of the pain for a moment. lol
Willis76: I'm running the search right now. Thanks for the heads up.
I will post the results tomorrow. Thanks again to everyone!
