So, how much does an MRI cost?

I was told by my naturopath that I should get one. Without insurance I'm sure it would be prohibitive.

My husband had one recently but before the bill comes in (he has Medicare only) I was wondering if anyone can tell me the cost.

Pam, it depends somewhat on where you have it done, and if you have to have one with contrast (IV, dye, etc.), but they are well upwards of $1000, at least the ones we've had are. We have insurance, but my group health carrier just raised the copay to $300 per MRI.

Yep, I have had a couple of MRI's and they cost around $1,000 or so, plus the radiologist reading fee, which is seperate where I live.

My husband had an arthrogram and MRI done on his shoulder last month. That includes x-rays and a dye injection. Total cost? Over $2800 without the radiologist's bill! Certainly not cheap.

    God bless,

Just had an MRI a couple of weeks ago. It was with contrast ( dye ). The MRI alone was $2894.00. I am glad I have insurance to help me with these bills. Take care.

I've had two mri's since March. Each one was over 1400.00. The doctor was grasping at straws to try and find out what's going on with me. They both came out fine. The second one even better than the first which really shocked the medical community in my area. Then the specialists gave up on me saying that we're in the rhelm of the unknown and sent me back to my regular doctor who is working so hard on trying to learn about CFS. If you're claustrophobic make sure they give you meds before going in that tube. I made it fine after they drugged me up.
