Well, like some others around these parts, I gained a lot of weight when I came down w/ the DD. A friend just sent me a report w/ some encouraging results.

A new report suggests that being overweight is not as
harmful as is commonly believed, and actually confers some
    surprising benefits.

Being five to ten pounds overweight could protect people
from ailments ranging from tuberculosis to Alzheimer's
disease, research indicates. Those carrying 15 to 25 extra
pounds are better able to recover from adverse conditions
such as emphysema, pneumonia, and various injuries and
    infections, states the report.

Thirty to forty pounds of flab could help fend off breast,
kidney, pancreatic, prostate, and colon cancer. And an extra
fifty pounds on the scale may improve eyesight, reverse
baldness, cure the common cold, and reduce global warming.

In general, the report concludes, overweight people are
happier, more successful in business, smarter, and

The study was funded by a research grant from McDonald's,
Burger King, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, Domino's Pizza,
Starbucks, Haagen Dazs, Sara Lee, and Krispy Kreme.

My friend promised to send me a report next week that was sponsored by the Tobacco Institute.

I am still laughing! I actually fell for it until i read who the study was sponsered by.

I was ready to tell my doc I didn't have to lose anymore weight.

I have lost 30 lbs so thyroid had a storm of some sort and I landed in that wonnerful place, the hospital, and now that I have thyroid replaced, the weight won't stay on!!! But I feel much, much better....
Glad I had/have the pounds to lose.

Thanks for the laugh of the day!

    Take care,

BUT I hfta say that people who are ill for a long time may just benefit from starting out with extra pounds.

I think my brother may have died but for being about 25lbs overweight as when he lost weight in his coma, he stayed just above the eat muscle scene.

Same thing happened to me 15 years ago. I got some awful parasite and wretched continuously for 4 months, impossible to eat, keep anything down, I lost 60lbs, but was 30lbs overweight when I started, my doc said that extra weight saved my life really.

    SO who knows? Annie
