Hi everyone, my 21 yr old son Trey is an art major and suffers from fibro like the rest of us. For his main art project he has a large support ribbon (about 2' tall) that is cut from wood with a slightly smaller one hinged to the first.

When opened, it will have a collage with photos, words, etc as well as a description of fibro. He said that this project is not just to highlight his own suffering, but that of all of us.

Trey asks that any board members who wish to be a part of this project to please post a short comment, quote etc. about your own experience or thoughts about living with this disease.

Thank you so much, gentle hugs

Reminds me of that old nursery rhyme. "Four peas in a pod,
    Three bags full."

Or something like that. I don't have Fibro, but I have CFS. Your son can
do something w/ this if he likes.

"A chronic disease is like strip poker. It keeps taking away things.

    Your job; your friends; your money; your dignity; your self-esteem;
your independence. Doesn't leave a whole lot."

I wish him good luck w/ his project.

My pain may be invisible, but it still hurts.

    not all disabilities are visible

it takes chronic strength to live with chronic illness

chronic illness is an isolating & lonely experience: most people don't understand what it's like to live with an invisible illness unless they have one, and that feeling of being so alone can hurt more than the illness itself

don't assume that someone is faking pain or illness if they don't look sick

    this little saying helps me

I am still an awsome person just stuck in this crappy body

I have said it many ways....a hot mama in a crappy body...

Also it helps me to remember to do what I can when I can.
