Hub thought of the Connie Francis and this one. He knows every rock song there is, so I'm not putting all his ideas here, it would be a million.

    HI DIANE, PATTI, et al,

Love listening to the songs even though most of the last ones were when I was busy raising my kids and not listening that much. I used to know all the songs and groups or singers many moons ago. I do remember Annette Funicello and Connie Francis even though she too was some later on. I love listening to them all. I think Elvis who started Rock and the Beatles when I was much younger. I have no idea of how to come up with these songs and how to post a video. SO, keep them coming everyone. It is fun to just listen and remember. Thanks for posting you all :)!!

Does anyone have some of earlier ROCK AND ROLL??? However, I do enjoy listening to them all.

    Love ya,

    Hi Kids

    Good topic, Diane.

Summertime Love is from Greenwillow, Frank Loesser's musical. It was one of his
lesser successes. Tony Perkins was the star. Frank had many other hits
though with shows like Most Happy Fella and songs like Once in Love with Amy
and A Bushel and a Peck. Won an Oscar and Tony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize.

When it's Summertime in Heidelberg from the movie The Student Prince. Mario
Lanza recorded this duet twice. With 2 different sopranos.

The Honey Wind Blows recorded by Glenn Yarbrough and Harry Belefonte. It's
about the end of summer and the coming of autumn.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Written by the same guy what wrote Harvest Moon.

The Theme from The Endless Summer, Bruce Brown's tribute to surfing.

Surfing USA and Surfer Girl. The Beach Boys.

Finally, I suppose you could say any song sung by Joanie Sommers is a summer song,
sorta. She did record the theme from A Summer Place, Summertime, and the theme
from The Long Hot Summer. The music for A Summer Place BTW was written by
the same composer who wrote the music from GWTW.

Hi, y'all! Great tunes y'all posted.

    And more..................

SUMMER NIGHTS, from Grease (Olivia Newton John, John Travolta), 1978

HEAT WAVE, Martha & The Vandellas, 1963

IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME, The Hayden Quartet, 1903

@Granniluvsu, I wasn't sure what your question was. Do you want us to start a NEW thread with "OLD TIME Rock and Roll"-type music as the title? THIS thread is about "summer", songs both old and new. Let us know, please!

    Enjoy, y'all!

    Hugs, Diane

Looks like we're having fun here!

    Don Henley---Boys of Summer

    Bryan Adams---Summer of 69

    Beaver Brown---Wild Summer Nights

    Chris Rea---On The Beach

    The Beach Boys---Summer In Paradise

Sho' has been hot here. Given the rain we've been getting and the local flooding, I'm of a mind to start the "ark".

Summertime activities. Cruising Down the River on a Sunday afternoon.

We Had a Real Nice Clambake from Carousel. And from the same show,
June is Bustin' Out All Over.

There must be a song that mentions picnics, but I can't think of one right now.

By the Light of the Silvery Moon:
Honey moon, keep a-shinin' in June
Your silv'ry beams will bring love's dreams
We'll be cuddlin' soon by the silvery moon.

Music from Field of Dreams. The composer James Horner died in a plane
    crash a few days ago.

Yankee Doodle Dandy; Born on the 4th of July.

Carole King recorded a song titled First Day in August. Doesn't seem to have a
melody, but maybe one has to hear it repeatedly.

    Hi Everybody!!

    Did someone mention picnics?? :)

    PICNIC, The McGuire Sisters, 1956

    "On a picnic morning
    Without a warning
    I looked at you
    And somehow I knew"

    Hi Folks!

Great song posts! This is so much fun. Here are a few more I thought of:

Nat King Cole--Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer

One of my favorites: The Happenings--See You In September

Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon--Beach Blanket Bingo

We've had "summer" weather here that doesn't seem to be able to make up its mind if it's summer or spring. It's been everywhere from the upper 70's to lower 90's here. We've had rain, rain, rain, and more rain! Much flooding here in Illinois. I've considered "starting the Arc". :D Have fun y'all!
