Hi all, I'm new here. My wife has been dealing with FM for a few years now and I try so hard, but some times I just get so frusterated...
First off the both of us are fairly young, myself~24, my wife~25, high school sweeties. I can only imagine from what I've seem over the last few years what everyone has been going through, it's so exhausting, physically and mentally.
We live in Oregon (Beaverton) and the weather here is so drag that it's unbareable. Winter is just nasty here, it stays cold, gloomy, and just flat out depressing 9-10 months out of the year. I'm sick of it! I grew up in Southern California where it's constantly warm and sunny. My wife on the other hand grew up here in Oregon, and has only expierenced warm sunny waether on vacations and during what we call summer in Oregon.
The both of us have researched warmer climates that would improve her all around condition. She complains about how the bitter cold and cloudy days make her hurt so bad to the point where she misses work and doesn't leave the bed. We've really looked into the Sarasota area of Florida. we visited last year for a week and loved it. We've gotten to the point to where we're saving money and looking into apartments.
However.... We just started seeing a Doctor here that has been such a huge help. From the first apmnt. I knew there was something about him that I really liked. It turned out that I liked so much because of the fact that he actually cared about my wife's condition, and wanted to help her, when others were just there for the apointment and insurance. We've been seeing him for a month or so and things are great.
The thing is, we've been planning on moving to Florida in July/August and she fears that all the progress we've made will be lost....
Is there anyone out there that knows of or is seeing a FM specialist in the Sarasota area??? Her quality of life is most important and we've heard so many good things about living in a warmer climate year round that we're willing to try it.
I share the same fear, I want to make sure that we'll be able to receive the same level of care once we arrive. Any advise recomendations are more than welcome.
    Thanks
    T

First of all I would like to say I'm very proud of you. Getting involved in your wifes case and getting on this sight where you can learn is sooooooo amazing.
My hubby is very helpfull and caring like you are, but very computer illiterate. He's afraid he'll break it.

    You are great.

2nd ask your new found doctor if he knows of anyone. Tell him what you think of him and how honored you are he is so caring. There are some that aren't. He may even be able to reccommend someone he went to school with. Tell him you want someone as compassionate as he is.

Good luck and let us know if it helps her down there in the warmth of Florida.
    Hugs to you both............

Cant help you with your move.

But if you put Sarasota in your title you might get more help from that area.

Just a thought .Good Luck to you.

It is so nice to see a spouce as caring and supportive at you are!

I know the weather does play a big role with me. I am in Southern California (Wrightwood) and tried to live in Newport Beach about 7 years ago and could not stand the fact that the sun did not come out til late in the day and then it would get dark (very overcast.) I am near the high desert in the San Gabriel mountains and the sun always shines here it seems and I love it!

I have an on-line friend with Fibromyalgia who lives in Florida and will ask her tonight if she is near Sarasota and see what she may know?

Take care of you and your wife!

    Carol

I can now understand why my wife likes this site so much. It's nice to see that everyone is so willing to help! I'm on the computer all the time and generally investigate web sites before jumping into them, when I found this one, there wa sno holding me back....
Now that I've looked around a bit I located the search bar, yea, it was right infront of face the whole time... I did a plain Sarasota search and it turned up a Dr. Small, I'm liking what I've read so far. Anyone havea any other info on him???
