Who has pain really bad down your spine ? It feels like someone has their hand around my spine and squeezes really hard ,lets go and then does it again.

I have a terrible time every morning with this .I have really good mattresses and have just in the last couple weeks had this get really bad. Also my arms and legs feel like there is pressure up and down them.

Is this another degree of FM or does it sound like something else ? I guess I'm still trying to figure out what is FM/CFS and what could be caused from something else.

this sounds like chronic myofascial pain.ive had spine pain for years.try a tennis ball on the wall and go up and down on along each side of your spine a couple of times dont over do or you will be worse. charlene

Me too! I've tried all kinds of pillows, stretches, muscle relaxers, pain meds, a very expensive bed. All to no avail. The spine keeps hurting! I think i'ts from trigger points I can feel up and down the sides of my spine.

I've had spinal pain for years and it is part of FMS. I understand your frustration. My physical therapist showed me different stretches and exercises to do (one is the tennis ball that another person here suggested). My therapist also said to take two tennis balls, put them into a sock and put a knot between them. Then lay on it (be sure the balls are not on your spine, though). It really doesn't take away the pain, but it does feel good to do some of the things she showed me. I also do water exercises and swimming twice a week, which feels good.

I wish I had a better answer, but I'm in the same boat.

I have had this for years. I think of it as fire in my spine. I read somewhere (which I can't remember) that this is part of Fibro. We have to much of some chemical in our spinal fluid (they think). I am a fibro fogger so I don't remember a lot of detail I read unless I write it down. Then I loose the paper....Ha Ha

I agree that none of the stretching really helps.

Count me in as one of those with spine problems.
I also have Cervical Disc Disease. With the fibromyalgia and the neck problem, some days seem so unmanageable.

After my recent fall (landed on my back) I have been in misery. Luckily I have RX for pain and spasms.

I think those of us with Fibromyalgia have enough back problems and do not need other problems with it also.

i have alot of spine pain there is no simple answer what works for some people doesn't work for others. fm is the worst thing to have because there are so many unanswered questions about it.i have had it since before 1994 then they told me it was in my head it was nice to hear them say sorry. back, legs, neck, burning in your body fibro fog.spine pain bowl problems the list goes on,but don't take anything for granted always tell your doctor when somthing else comes up because you never really know.hang in there take one day at a time and never give up.one day you might wake up and feel normal take advanage of them days and have fun. and keep in mind fm can go into remission. soft hugs and have a nice day.god bless cindy

    Me too!

This was one of my first symptoms of generalized pain. When people as where it hurts I say My WHOLE spine.

Neurontin has made a big improvement for me. I've heard Lyrica is even better though. All I know is if I miss a dose I really know it.

None of the other pain relievers worked for me. It seems to be nerve related.

    I hope this is helpful.

I feel so sorry for you. My pain is always in my shoulders, neck, upper back, head and legs, but occasionally centers on the entire spine for several days in a row. I think it is horrible, and so far mine doesn't seem to last over 3 days at a time.

Seems when I have the spine pain I also hurt in the wrists and ankles more, don't know why that is. But it's not fun and even though I know it's FM, it doesn't seem to have a reason for coming and going, and will happen once or twice a month for several days.

I think it would be easier to have pain in one area constantly so you could adjust and deal with it rather than have it everywhere and never know how to adjust, don't you?

It is weird how this DD makes you hurt in different places all the time. sometimes I feel like I have a jumping bean in me and where it jumps that day it hurts.

My spine has hurt for a few weeks and doesnt seem to be getting better.I always try to figure out if it is FM/CFS or something new that's why I post alot about different pains,to see if others have them to.

I too suffer from spinal pain. It is difficult to deal with for sure, I have fibro and docs have told me that causes spinal pain, but I also have degenative disc disease which had caused me to undergo surgery to fuse the discs, so far I have had 3 disc fusions in my neck and I am told I have 2 more going. In my lower back I have they want to surgery on but I am digging my heels I am seeing a pain specialist now in hopes he will help me prolong surgery. So to answer your question I would see a doc and see if they can do an MRI and xrays both will show any disc or bone issues. I wish I new what to tell you do but as many have already said what works for one does not help another. One thing that does help me temporaily is to use ice pack for 20 minutes then heat for 20 minutes, try this a couple times a day. Good Luck sweety!

I have fibro, DDD, stenosis. AND pain
but it doesn't stay in one spot it feels like I am being stabbed. I have a l-6 s-1 fusion for spina bifida occulta and it cracks and pops above and below. When the rest of you have this does it pop and crack thank you so much
