Okay I have a quesiton that I hope someone can help me with.

I was wanting to know how long you have had to work in the work force before you can recieve SSDI? I am 21 years old. I have worked since I was 18. I work for the federal government right now and plan on doing that for the next 2 years. I hope that my health holds out because I would love to finish my degree in Vet Technology when I move back to the states in 2 years. But who knows. I want to be prepared and informed. I am thinking about opening my own business once I move back to the states that has to be with pet consulting...but I am not sure how that will go.

    Nichole,
I know that in California, you have to have worked the past 5 years in order to receive benefits from working. Also you have to have a certain amount of credits. So for example, I was 6 credits short and have not worked the last 5 years so therefore I have to apply for SSI (supplemental income for people who don't have enough in the system.
