Hi there! Thought I best do a new post to you as I wasn't sure you would go back to mine about sunburn. Gotta ? for ya,(I know it's early Monday and I'm asking ?s!) You said you are hyper sensitive to heat and cold...I am so sensitive to cold that hubby is moving me to Florida (I am in Michigan now),now when you are sensitive to heat what exactly do you mean? Do you burn or turn red, get too over-heated? Sorry, I am just trying to figure out what is going on with me, you know how it goes...Peace to you.

Yes, I not only burn easy, but I also overheat easily. When you have hypothyroidism, your system doesn't cool itself down like it should. Last fall we went to the Carver County fair at 4 in the afternoon. I don't know WHAT I was thinking, because we normally always go about 7pm when it's cooler. Anyway....to make a long story short, within about 45 minutes I had become really warm and didn't feel well at all, so hubby took me home. I took my temp and it was 102. I cannot, under any circumstances, spend anytime outdoors on a hot summer day, nor can I ride in a vehicle in the summer without air conditioning. It's the pits because we live on an island and I miss out on alot of boating fun because everybody goes out in the middle of the day to ski, swim, etc.... I do hop in the boat after supper and and go visit other friends that live on other islands around here. It's alot of fun! No way could I live in Florida!

P.S. I used to be cold all the time too, plus I would wear socks to bed in the winter. Then I saw a specialist, an endoc, and he upped my synthroid from 150 to 175. Within two weeks I felt fine...no more coldness and no more socks, and that was a miracle because I'd worn socks to bed for 15 years! Now if I could just fix my internal cooling system, I'd be in fine shape!

I really appreciate the info. I have had the fibro for years now but this year things have just dramatically changed so much. Can't tell you if I even have ever had my thyroid checked. My doc's reaction when I told him that I was told by a friend of mine that my symptoms sounded more like Lupus than Fibro his answer was "Lupus, what do you want that for? That 'll kill ya!" As if any of us wants to have any of these stupid diseases....thanks for answering.

As you probably already know, the majority of people with FM also have an underactive thyroid. A GP will read the test results and say you're normal, but they don't know enough about thyroids to read the tests correctly, plus the tests are so darned inaccurate. Your being cold all the time is definitely a #1 symptom of an underactive thyroid. Get it checked, by an endocrinologist!

I tell you, this board is such a God-send when you have no medical support what-so-ever. I would be lost without ya all. I can't imagine how hard this last 7 mos. would have been if I hadn't fallen upon the board in early March, my frustration had really reached an all-time high. Thanks again, I appreciate you. love Rebel
