Struggling to understand.

    For most of my life, I have spent a lot of time trying to understand God rather than know Him. This is still a struggle for me, but this verse and poem help me. The poem is kind of long, but it has always said a lot to me.

    "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter." Proverbs 25:2

    He sat by the fire of seven-fold heat,
    As watched by the precious ore;
    And closer He bent with a searching gaze,
    And He heated it more and more.

    He knew He had ore that could stand the test,
    And He wanted the finest gold;
    To mold as a crown for the King to wear,
    Set with gems of price untold.

    So He laid it there in the burning fire,
    Though our eyes were dim with tears;
    For we saw but the fire-not the Master's hand,
    And questioned with anxious fear.

    So the gold was laid in the burning fire,
    Though we vain would say Him, "Nay";
    And we watched the dross, that we had not seen,
    As it melted and passed away.

    And the gold grew brighter-and yet more bright-
    As it mirrored the form above,
    Who set o'er the fire, though unseen by us,
    With a look of ineffable love.

    Can we think it pleases the Master's heart,
    To cause us a moment's pain?
    Oh, no, but He sees through the present loss
    The bliss of eternal gain.

    So He laid it there in the burning fire,
    With a love that is strong and sure;
    And our gold did not suffer a bit more heat
    Than was needed to make it pure.

    Please God, please continue to teach me to trust instead of trying to understand.

    Sometimes it is hard to understand why we go thru what we do, but I guess its true that "no pain, no gain".
    Thank you for posting this.

    This message I found in OUR DAILY BREAD.

    I was given infirmity that I might do better things.
    I asked God for strength that I might achieve:
    I was made weak that I might learn to obey.
    I asked for riches that I might be happy:
    I was given proverty that I might be wise.
    I asked for power and the praise of men:
    I was given weakness to sense my need of God.
    I asked for all things that I might enjoy life:
    I was given life that I might enjoy all things.
    I got nothing I asked for but everything that I hoped for:
    In spite of myself, my prayers were answered-
    I am among all men most richly blessed.
    Yes, God always gives us whats best for us.

    I felt, I needed to share this, It really hit home with me.
    Hope you enjoy it to. Blessings to all, Sunrise

    We all take our steps at a different pace. But at least you are trying, God will bless you. The Lord has always been in my heart, but unfortunately i took the wrong road so many times thinking of only my selfish ways. But it was through the long hard roads that made me see where i was going wrong. I just have in the last year after living with the pain of having neuropathy and FMS that made me slow down and take a look at myself and what really matter... that was putting Christ first in my life no matter how much pain i was in. I am glad this happened to me, it slowed me down. I love Christ with all my heart and soul. I believe you do too. NEVER give up on yourself, keep searching and asking and he will give you the wisdom and understanding. GOD BLESS YOU. you sister in Christ. MAMA
