If anyone needs to get off opiates, Subutex prevents withdrawals.
You can remain on a maintenance of Subutex for pain.
To locate a doctor who prescribes this med, do a web search using google, entering addiction specialist or addiction doctor then the area where you live.
Doctors must be specially licensed to prescribe it.
You are much better off seeing a addiction specialist because they are familiar with the whole process.
I would not try to use a doctor who doesn't normally use Subutex or work with opiate addiction.
You need someone who really understands and can give you the proper support.

Often I see a post here where someone is on opiates and wants to stop them. Most of the time, the doctors just let them suffer withdrawals. It is very frightening.

It is so unnecessary but sadly many doctors do not care. They prescribe opiates but when a problem arises, they abandon you. (I know this from personal experience and reading on this board).

I am not putting down taking opiates, I believe in them. I just know sometimes people want to stop them without suffering.

Subutex also treats pain so you can stay on it for maintenance.

I'd be interested to know more of your personal experience with opiates and Subutex.

What opiates were you taking and how many per day?
How long had you been taking opiates?
How long have you been taking Subutex?
What made you decide to go off the opiates?
Since Subutex is also an opiate, isn't it just trading one "evil" for another?

I am currently taking oxycodone (2-3 per day) and have been for several years. I've been thinking for quite some time of stopping, but it is a very scary thought.

I'm not even sure the amount I am taking would put me into withdrawal if I tapered off. I've never been brave enough to try tapering off.

Any info you could give me would be much appreciated.

Can I take subutex even if I'm not taking narcotics? I would love some pain relief without the extra foggy headedness from narcs.

    God Bless.
