My husband called me from work yesterday to tell me about a free seminar on FMS. It will be put on by a couple of chiro.'s and some doctors. He had heard it briefly on the radio so he called about it. I'm very hopeful. Good ole pessimistic me..I think it will turn into "selling" something...chiro's will probably say they can cure FMS...But if it is docs and chiro.s together putting it on, it might be good. Maybe there are a lot more people here in Mid-MO that have FMS than I am aware of. The seminar is this coming Thurs. I'll be sure to share what happens at it.

But, I am glad you are going. If it turns out to be an Amway-like thing, you can just leave! At the least maybe you can meet others with FM and start your own support group! I hope they don't make the statement that they can cure FM. Then suddenly we are at fault for having FM because we didn't take their cure!

Take it easy on chiros - if you find a GOOD one that knows about fibro they can make a BIG difference. Guaifenisin, pmassage therapist and chiro changed my daughter's life around. Good book to read - "What Your Doctor May Not Tell you About Fibromyalgia" by Dr. St. Amand. Good luck with your fibro and a search for a feel better life. The above helped my daugher.

Horsegal. I think you are from my neck of the woods sea/tac area. There is a few adds in the tribune about fms/cures that I have noticed. I have also noticed that there are several NUCCA chiro offices popping up all around our area. I believe you will find that this is the semnar. My friend who has fms is going to a nucca chiro. The up front cost about 2k! They want it up front so that you will be sure and complete the program. She felt good and very energetic for a bit while in the program but I just spoke with her last week and she is in another flair.
My chiro who is a standard chiro said that NUCCA is almost a religion to the doctors involved. Tons of marketing involved and the philosophy of the nucca docs is that "this is the only way"
let me know how the seminar is. Personally I would not wasted my precious energy.

Even if someone is selling something, you will most likely take something away from going. I went to one commercial workshop and learned all about the two sides of the immune system. Of course, even with notes, I forget everything five minutes later, but that was my first exposure to this knowledge. The speaker was an eminent immunobiologist.

I found my new, wonderful specialist at a free siminar at a local hospital. I didn't even know we had someone like this in my little town. I've replaced my rheumy, who dropped my ins. plan, with this physiatrist (kind of like a physical therapist who is also a doctor; i.e., a doctor of physical medicine). Now physiatrists aren't traditionally specialists in our illnesses, but it makes sense that they would be. This doctor knows more about our illnesses than all my other docs put together. He listens and he learns from his patients. He is a real sweetie and I feel very fortunate to have found him.

    Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

    Love, Mikie

you can bet on me going! If nothing else, I will find out if there is a support group here, and if there isn't one, I can start one! I'm hoping the chiro. I've been hearing so many good things about will be involved in the seminar. I'll fill everyone in.

There are gobs of people in Missouri with FM, including me. Where is this seminar? I might want to attend too. I'm in the southwest corner of the state. By the way chriopractors have been a lot more help to me than regular doctors.

Thanks, horsegal, but that's a little too far away. Sometimes I think that most of us fibromites have read enough on the subject and have learned enough from experience to hold our own seminar anyway. I will be watching, though, to see what you have to tell us after the one on Thursday.
