I was getting a tolerance for the Ambien I guess, which worked great in the past, Yesterday my rheumy called in Lunesta for me.

Soon after I took it, This gross buring came up my esophagus and the worst taste I could imagine. Sort of metal-like and just awful. I woke up a few times during the night and felt Drugged (ofcourse) and there was a burning (fire) pain in my joints, but I was so "out-of-it" that I did not care and fell back asleep. Also was very groggy this morning - Ambien did not do that for me. Woke up and still had the god awful taste.

Anyone else experience this? Maybe it was something with the Prednisone or other meds I am taking, but they were taken much earlier in the day.

    Your thoughts would be appreciated.
    Hugs :) Kim

Didn't help sleep and the terrible taste you mentioned was just too much.

But the tolerance you talked about with Ambien happens. I switch my sleeping meds around. Sometimes I take Benedryl, sometimes Ativan, sometimes Ambien...I always take a Klonipen, but will be giving up that one.

If I stay with one thing too long, nothing works. So, I just vary them. You can try varying the dose...take Benedryl and part of your Ambien, or whatever. I'm not a doctor, but as I have trouble with tolerance issues, I have learned to play around a bit. It's been a number of years.

    But Lunesta....awful stuff.

    Take care,
    Sue

I am also trying different meds for sleep. Ask to try 7.5 mg or 15 mg of Restoril.
    Again, switch around.
My Dr. also had me try Elavil.
The best is Restoril, just 7.5 mg but I started getting too sleepy the next day. It is good but very addictive so I don't want to take it every day.
Last night I took 10 mg Ambien.
My Dr. said the sleep specialists have you rotate to avoid tolerance, etc.
I never appreciated a good nights sleep, what I would give now!!
