Swollen Glands and Fever Again

I just don't know what to do anymore. The glands in my neck hurt and the right one is pushing on my ear, so that hurts, too. And it's not going away. I guess I was hoping the Armour Thyroid would be a miracle drug and make it go away, but of course it hasn't. Although it's probably too soon on it anyway. And I'm still feverish. And the fatigue is bad.

My money is running out. And I'm scared. No one is going to help me. I just pray I get the foodstamps back quickly when I apply.

This isn't living. And I'm so tired of being in a world where we get treated like garbage just because we got sick. It's not my fault. I can't make it go away. I've tried and tried and it won't go. And I don't know what to do anymore. :(

Teabisqit these may be dumb questions but don't you have EBV and are you on Valtrex? You sound like you have an untreated viral infection. And I know that you said that you have Lyme too-is that treated? It sounds like you need some serious drugs.

The docs have been afraid to give me any because of the side effects. I have HHV6 and EBV on top of severely advanced Lyme. Most of the focus for years was on trying to kill the Lyme. I don't think it worked very well or it's just been munching on my immune system for so long that the damage is permanent.

Taking a natural immune modulator helps me sometimes. But not always. And I can't afford to keep it up.

I have a doc appointment for next week, but I don't know what she can do. She knows little about this stuff. She's a new doc. She seems willing to learn, though.

I'd rather do natural things. But I'm not going to be able to afford much of anything much longer. That's the saddest part of all. There are things that would at least make me feel alittle better and I cannot afford them.

    Hugs to everyone :)

And yes, there's no energy. I haven't been able to do anything in months. I haven't even been making my game files. Just getting my mail today almost killed me. No one really understands just how bad this is. My friend who took me to the emergency room a few weeks ago, she just asked me if I was making any of my game files. And I was like, NO. I'm too sick. Even she doesn't realize that every little thing I do is a huge struggle. I seem to have been going downhill since maybe January or so. It's been alot of months. I'm just not doing well at all. And I'm scared cause I'm alone and I don't know how much longer I can do this anymore.

Please talk to your dr. re: getting some Valtrex at least, and also consider Valcyte. I don't think that anything natural is going to shift what you have so it's time to bring out the big guns. And you can get the meds for free from patient assistance programs.

There's no sense in suffering when you can get treated and could potentially get a lot better. And if your dr. doesn't want to give you stuff off-label & you can't find decent CFS specialist in your area then NYC is just a train or busride away and either Levine or Enlander would hook you up. Their initial consultations are a bit pricey, but they take a full history etc. and do blood tests. After you saw them you could probably just do phone consults in the future. I don't know how they handle lyme, but they both do EBV & HHV6. I think that you really need a really good CFS dr. to help you get well. The most important thing is your health-if that improves then everything gets better, so that's what you need to focus on. Then when you're feeling better then everything will be better.
  8. hi all,
teabisqit,i thought id just tell you that i no longer get the swollen glands in the neck or arm pitts anymore.

but i do get a sore throat when ive caught a virus that might be going around at the shcool where i work.

most none fibro, people are getting this sore throat and virus too.including my sister who hasnt been told that she has CFS/fibro.but is weak due to having irritable bowel syndrome.

some older members might remember that id been on amitriptyline for many years, and due to my tongue starting to swell up,id decided to come off that tablet.im on nortriptyline 50 mg now.

well id begun drinking cranberry juice morning and night for over a year i think.then id started eating pumpkin seeds, as id read they can rid the body of parasites/worms.

many years ago id been bitten by a insect in my garden.it had gone all the way up my spine, then i got ill with this CFS.and a specialist at our hospital had told me a virus had gone up my spine and attacked my brain, and this was my life now,so i should get used to it.

i remember that after eating the pumpkin seeds for nine weeks, i then had to stop them, as i went very dizzy and had to be off work.i wonder now if my blood vessels in my head had been affected but i wasnt sure.

anyway the pumpkin seeds did make some blisters go away on the palm of my hand.id had these blister for many years.but now they are gone.i dont know what caused them, which is why i started the pumpkin seeds just incase i had parasites in me.

well im just reminded by your post ,that i havent had the neck and arm pitt swelling for like maybe a year now.so i must have done something good.or the amitriptyline had been causing that all along and i just hadnt known.

i do still eat pumpkin seeds and other seeds too,i do believe my immune system is strong this year,as people at work seem to get ill,er than me, when viruses go around.

the current throat virus thing, that i had last week, but just got a bit of a fever with, has put my sister in her bed.

i know theres a sort of flu virus going around right now...not meaning the swine flu though.teachers are sneezing all over the place and i say ...here use a tissue..

so i do think that we can help our immune system to get a bit stronger if we do a detox, then start eating seeds, nuts, fruit museli and of course im drinking two cups full of pre boiled water that has ginger root in it.this is for stomach issues so i read.

    take care,love fran

tea..i agree with outofstep. you need to fight to find a local GP or someone who will give you antivirals. do not stay with a doctor who won't. you are fighting for your life here.

    you can do it.

I'm so sorry that it's gotten this rough. As for the medicine use a prescription assistance program. I do. Cymbalta is expensive. By law, prescription companies must use a portion of their profits to help those in need. All you have to do is google patient assistance program or prescription assistance program and take a form to your dr to fill out. They fax it in and the company sends a three or four month supply. Then you have the dr send in another form when it's due again. They send the meds to the dr office and you go pick them up. As for paying for the dr. I'm in the same boat on that one. I'm going to my rheumy on Monday so I'll be delaying paying my car payment, which is already late. Oh well.

Sorry you are feeling so bad.

Those symptoms also fit the infection, Bartonella...transmitted by cat scratches and tick bites.

It can be commonly found in people who also have borrelia burgdorferi infection (lyme).

See page 24 and 26 in the link below for Bartonella info...

There is a symptom list on pages 9-11 that encompasses lyme and other tick borne diseases.

Hope you get some answers and feel better.

I am so sorry - I really know how you feel - I am alone too and so weak at times I don't know that I will survive. I pray...

Can your doctor give you azithromycin (250mg) and you can pulse it - take it a week than every other day than every three days. But first start full blast. It works for so many things - mycoplasma, lyme etc.

Also maybe something like Vit C (powder - maybe buffered if too acidic) it is known to kill lots of bugs at high enough doses.

If fungal is a concern - caprylic acid is an option - also good for bacterial.

Kirkman had colostrum that is dye free and pretty hyoallengenic - that's an idea.

Can you get sun - in a chair outside - for even 10 minutes? That may help (Vit D). Also put your feet on the earth - I read about a guy that layed outside on a blanket when there was nothing left to try and he gradually got better - something to think about.

Get fresh air into your room - I try to do that too.

Movies - can you watch them? I am many times too weak even for that - severe overwhelm - but if you can I have a free netflix card - for a 1 free month if you want it.

I hope in my heart that you know I truely know the struggle you are in and the depth of the worry and despair of the illness and my heart cries for you and all here who are trying so darn hard without much or any result...

    God Bless,

I tried about four months of Xithromax. The side effects nearly killed me and I had to stop it. It only made me five percent better while I was on it. And any benefits left soon after I stopped it.

Lately, I've tried ginger for pain and I'm finding that it does help with the arthritis pain, but it does nothing for my fever or fatigue.

just wanted to send you a very gentle hug .

I know everyone is different but I wonder how long it took before other people
have seen any results on the Armour?

That's good that you found the ginger works some for the arthritis pain.

take special care of yourself and let us know how your doctor 's appt goes.

I wish I had some type of advice but I'm here and a good listener , I will keep you in my prayers.

    Gentle hugs, Susan

I'm really really sorry you're having such a rough time. I'm sure your fatigue is so bad because you are constantly fighting some sort of bug.

I had been fighting a sinus-type bug, together with intestinal problems, off and on for over a year, and finally found a chiropractor in my area who does Contact Reflex Analysis, a form of muscle testing. My thymus tested weak (no surprise there), my adrenals too, and it also showed I needed digestive enzymes with hydrochloric acid. I had taken a digestive supplement for several years and just changed it maybe 8 months ago, so that was a mistake. I had also taken an adrenal glandular supplement before off and on for several years also. Anyways, the chiro gave me supplements by Standard Process for my thymus and digeestion, and I added an adrenal supplement on my own.

I have been getting sick every time I crashed for over a year, without fail, and also often was sick in-between crashes, was sick 80-90% of the time. Well, I just recently crashed (flew to Dallas to see my kids), the crash was no surprise, but I didn't get sick for the first time in a year. It felt miraculous. I recrashed after the flight home, am just getting over the second crash, but still am not sick. I know the new supplements are helping me. It will be interesting to see what happens in the long run.

If I were you, I would find a chiropractor who does this muscle testing. If you call Standard Process at (800) 558-8740, they can give you the name of practitioners in your area who use their products. That's how I found the chiro I'm currently seeing.

I know it's more money - it often feels like I'm p***g money down the drain! But this is helping me after months and months of no help -

    Take care -
