I have suffered from this DD for over 11 years, with the pain beginning about 2 months after a major surgery. After going through the usual medical tests from numerous "specialists" I was finally diagonised with Fibromyalgia by my GP, who doesn't know much about its treatment.

I have found others in my small community who also suffer, and we all seem to have a lot in common. Anyone out there know if there are any studies to find a link between this disease and MIGRAINE, ALLERGIES, ASTHMA, MENSTURAL TROUBLES, MISCARRIAGES, and OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS with the same symptoms? I feel like this might be a key to finding the cause.

    Thanks Polliwog

Hi Polliwog, welcome to the board. I also have Fibro, have had it now for twenty plus years. Yes, I have allergies, did have migraines, and no to the other questions.

I have eliminated the sinus, allergies, and other type of headaches (cluster and migraines) by drinking water, half my body weight in ounces of water a day. It seems most of us are dehydrated, and that lack of water in our systems can cause a lot of big problems. I still have chemical allergies, but not the plant etc kind anymore.

I lived with headaches, four or five a week before I started drinking water. It also helps the skin and the Fibro Fog for me.

Others will be along to comment on your other questions, glad you have found our board.

    Shalom, Shirl

To answer your questions about related conditions, the answers in the order you listed them, based on my 17 yrs. of researching FS are: Yes, yes, no, yes, no , yes. If there was an answer, we'd all know about it. I wish there were. If you can get ahold of Dr. Devein Starlanyl's huge book on FS and MPS, you'll see the most comprehensive list of these conditions which are connected, called concommittant conditions, along with explanations and lots of treatment suggestions.

How nice of you to answer. I am going to try to drink more water. It isn't a natural craving for me so I have to remind myself to drink even when I don't "feel" thirsty. If it could help the fibro fog, it would be worth it for that. And for the reply about the book with the list of common symptoms, thanks for the info! Polliwog

funny you should mention water, I recently bought a water filter, and have started drinking water more often and cutting right down on caffiene. There appears to have been some improvement. I still feel a bit crappy, but I got chatted up today by a bank clerk at our local bank, she were a bit of alright as well. So that's it now for me I'm on the water for good. Even if it don't do much else for me, I'm convinced it helps with the pulliing power LOL

the way to remember to drink water, Shirl.....it's ALL I drink and I reach for it now instead of the dreaded Diet Coke! I'm drinking copius quantities and I feel much better. YOU gave me this advice and, when you did, I groaned at the amount you drink! Now, I drink more than you do!!! lol Since I cut out all other drinks, my skin is smoother and softer and clearer, and I feel MUCH better....cool...thanks bunches!
