Quick question.. I did some searching here and might have missed my answer. I know where the tender points are but am wonder how they doctor goes about checking them. I have pain in many of them all the time and when pressed them seem to get agrivated. Do they check for tender points just by poking and prodding??

There is a specific amount of pressure they use to identify pain in the tender points.

It weird but I can remember my husband giving me back rubs quite a few years ago (before my diagnosis) and thinking that he was trying to kill me as I was squirming in pain when he rubbed areas around my neck and back. He thought I was crazy.

Now I know what it was all about.

    (I know, back rubs....I'm a lucky girl)

I just recently had an exam by a new doctor and he went hunting for trigger points and boy did I pay the price. Yes, it hurt while he was pressing but boy, oh boy did it hurt the next 5 days! He really kicked things up and I actually had new pains and discomforts after his exam. He pressed hard but not too hard, just hard enough.
